Which price? I'm only paying $20.49 via Amazon. It'll probably be lower by the time it ships.

Most major BD's "list" for between $35 and $40, but who pays list except suckers?

Anyone who actually pays list prices gets what they deserve, I guess. You'd have to work pretty hard to not find a BD like this for $24.99. Even a store with terrible DVD/BD prices like Borders will likely stock it for $29.99.

What about those who pay DVD list prices? The overwhelming majority of DVDs have list prices of $29.99 or more (more than a few are set at $34.99). If people are smart enough to avoid paying those prices for DVDs, I think they are probably smart enough to avoid paying Blu-ray list prices. Those that aren't smart enough to avoid paying Blu-ray list prices are probably also paying $29.99 for their DVDs.

As for me, getting the Ghostbusters BD for $20.49, with free shipping and no sales tax, sounds like a win for me.

I hope no one is paying list price. I find it odd that so many pay the "new release" price here of $20. Invariably, this will be on sale for much less within a few months.

I'll probably pick it up with Sony Rewards points.

Didn't this get dropped to a regular catalog price? Even then Sony titles are on sale pretty regularly, I'll probably snag it around the $15 price point... don't mind waiting a bit.

Re: Ghostbusters 25th anniversary june 16th

Final specs as per The HD Room here: http://www.thehdroom.com/news/Ghostb..._Revealed/4539

* NEW: Digitally Mastered Audio and Video
* NEW: Slimer Mode: Picture-in-Picture Graphical Viewing Experience with an examination of the spook-hunters firehouse headquarters, an in-depth exploration of the creatures in the Ghostbusters mythology, behind-the-scenes discussions of making the movie, new cast, crew and special effects artists interviews and much more! (Blu-ray exclusive)
* NEW: Featurette: Ecto-1: Resurrecting the Classic Car (Blu-ray exclusive)
* NEW: Ghostbusters Garage: Ecto-1 Gallery (Blu-ray exclusive)
* NEW: Making of Ghostbusters The Videogame (Blu-ray exclusive)
* Filmmakers' Commentary with Ivan Reitman, Harold Ramis and Joe Medjuck
* Featurette: 1984 - The Making of Ghostbusters - Interviews with the cast and crew
* Featurette: Interviews with Cast and Crew
* Featurette: SFX Team - Includes Before and After Multi-Angle Explorations
* Scene Cemetery - 10 Deleted Scenes
* Storyboard Comparisons

Looks like I still can't toss my original Collector's Series DVD because the trivia track, "live" commentary angle and theatrical trailer gallery have again not been included. There are also four deleted scenes from the Criterion LD that have been ignored again (10 being the same number on the existing DVDs), most notably the "Fort Detmerring" scene. I also still would have liked to hear an Aykroyd commentary, but it's a good package.

Let's hope Ghostbusters 2 doesn't get the shaft. All I really want is deleted scenes, but you'd think since this is the 25th Anniversary of the movie and they're making the new movie and the game and really going all out they'd give it some sort of treatment.

Re: Ghostbusters 25th anniversary june 16th

Sony has launched a new Ghostbusters site to tie-in with the BD release.

http://www.sonypictures.com/homevide...usters/splash/

Included on the site is a $5.00 off coupon. I clicked the link, but it loaded a blank screen, so I guess it won't be active until release day.

I was somewhat hesitant to buy this but I think with that $5 coupon I'll have to go for it. Does anyone know if Ghostbusters 2 is coming as well?

From 'Aint it Cool News'

Wow. Can't say I'm on fire over this new "Ghostbusters" transfer, but it might be the source material.

I expect you're going to hear a lot of discussion of the film grain on this transfer. A LOT OF DISCUSSION.

@peteramartin No, it's really rough. I like preserving film grain, but this is nigh unwatchable.

@jrc2334 Yeah, my first reaction is that this may be one of the worst BluRay transfers so far. That bums me out.

@The_Cameo It goes beyond grain. It's the first time I've noticed pronounced aliasing in any BluRay transfer. It looks like shit.

@ScottObiSwan I'll show it to you. I'm baffled at how this is a BluRay release. I seriously don't get how this was put out.
A fellow reviewer got this and noted the same thing. Looks like I'll be renting this one instead

I'll buy it regardless.

This sounds like a studio trick of some sort to inadvertently make us all look like we advocate DNR.

Sony updated the Ghostbusters.com website with an infinite amount of material. If you're remotely a fan, check it out.

Re: Ghostbusters 25th anniversary june 16th

The Digital Bits put up a review for this one, but I think they got some of their facts wrong....

While complaining about the missing special features from the DVD, he writes:
"As is Sony's current practice, the original theatrical trailer for this film is also missing (to be fair, there wasn't one on the DVD version, though the previous Ghostbusters 2 DVD did have trailers for both films)."

Um, I have the original Ghostbusters SE DVD, and it DOES have the trailer for GB on it (as well as one for GB2)......

Which DVD was he comparing though? It was re-released in the two-pack, but I didn't buy that one.

Since he references the missing MST3K angle for the commentary and Don Shay's production note track, then he's talking about the original Collector's Series DVD, as Sony left those extras, and the theatrical trailer, off the double feature gift set. But the original Collector's Series release did have the trailer, and the same three bonus trailers for Ghostbusters II, Stripes and Groundhog Day as the Ghostbusters II DVD has.
