Amadeus and Shawshank Redemption.
1st time my 14 1/2 son has watch Shawshank, cool to see him like movies with some real meaning to it. We seem to watch action movies all the time, now I am going to sprinkle some older movies that make you think a little.

New In Town take character A, introduce them to polar opposite character B so they can hate everything about each other. Then put them in a few situations where they can realize the other isn't so bad and they finally start to like each other. Then provide a misunderstanding or twist where one gets mad and thinks they've been had and were right in the first place to hate them. At the end make sure they realize it was all a misunderstanding and they really are in love. Try and keep it to less than 90 minutes so people don't get bored.
rental from Blockbuster. not a bad picture and certainly had likeable characters, just a movie you've seen a hundred times before.

Fanboys- Wasn't expecting much but got a good laugh out of it. A little disappointed in there being no special features.
Underworld 3:Rise of the Lycans- Again wasn't expecting anything from this movie either, but overall not too bad.

The Fast and the Furious on HD DVD. Nearly unwatchable film. No idea how stuff this bad gets such a cult following that it spawns 3 sequels.

Saturday Night Fever - PQ was decent but I thought it was a little grainy and not incredibly sharp. AQ was solid. Lots of extras, though it's troubling that Travolta doesn't appear at all.

Watched Ghostbusters. Really enjoyed the Slimer mode. Very good use of the PIP commentary feature. Also checked out the film on its own for a bit and overall I'm happy with the PQ. Yes it is very grainy and the blacks look full of grain, but I will take that to heavy smoothing and grain removal. Worth the $8.99 from Amazon.
Also watched a couple of episodes of Venture Bros season 3 and was surprised by how great it looked in HD. I've held off on buying South Park on BD, but after seeing this I want my animated shows in HD.

The International. Great movie, some good special features on the set design etc; interesting to watch. Didn't notice any problems with picture or audio.

Big Trouble In Little China
I got the Blu-ray this afternoon and already watched it. The image is a big improvement over the SD version but the sound...holy cow, I never thought that the movie could sound that sweet.

Big Trouble In Little China. It has been awhile since I watched the movie and I'm certainly glad I did. I will definitely pick this up, when I have the movie..in the meantime I'm glad I have Netflix.

Tokyo Drift HD DVD - Good picture quality and fairly entertaining movie. The Bama boy accent of the main character took a little away from the movie for me.
Hulk HD DVD - Not as good as the follow-up The Incredible Hulk, but reference quality video and entertaining enough, and the lovely Jennifer Connely to boot.

Army of Darkness (HD DVD) - can't find anything to complain about... wonder if the BD will look any better since the transfer on the HD DVD is pretty solid.
Splinter (BD)- descent indie horror flick, recommended.
The Hitcher (HD DVD) - Still find this movie a lot of fun, good quality transfer here as well.
I love my LG combo player!

Friday the 13th remake - So-so flick. I had rewatched the orginal and it's sequel recently and still prefer those. PQ and AQ were good enough, but nothing fantastic.
