The Legend of Tarzan. Why was it made?

Sausage Party

It was ok but not a classic.

Arthur. Second time and I loved it. Don't judge me lol.

Was expecting a more clunky and conventional "robot run amok" story, and - no spoilers- this was not really that exactly. That ahead of it's time deviation made it more interesting than most of its contemporary sci-fi counterparts. The 3D was well done too. Spectacular restoration by Bob Furmanek and his 3D Archive.

Watched the first couple eps of these. Usually I end up binge watching one show at a time before moving to another, but I'm going to try to take each of these slow this time and cycle thru them.

Walking Dead I may be starting to burn out on. Although I felt the same with S5 at the start and ended up barreling through it, and greatly enjoying it, at the end. This one is starting off a little more unpleasant though. Will be good to see this series wrap up and put to rest soon.

First time seeing Daredevil and the first ep got off with a bang. Love the way the Avengers film events are acknowledged on the periphery and taken as a matter of course. I do know the master plan for the Kingpin and while I'm not keen on that aspect, the rest of the show looks to be more well crafted, entertaining Marvel product. I'm going to try to take this one slow and savor it.

Don't know what the popular consensus is for the King adaptation- though the positive reviews for the early eps got my attention and put it on my to get list. I'm a sucker for time travel stories and 2 eps in, I'm hooked on this one. Franco looks to have finally found a property that utilizes his innate charm and lets him flex his acting chops. Another show I don't want to rush through.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens (3D)...still a rousing adventure after the third time. It really is a rehash of ANH, huh? Saw it more and more. Now, the 3D on this was good, but not great. At least not reference quality like others have said. Great depth and some nice effects, but honestly I think I've seen better. Maybe just my meager setup.

Joshy

It had some funny moments but overall not a funny movie and most of the characters are annoying.

The Professional (theatrical)...a classic. It has to be. Pure greatness. Like the theatrical better without the Mathilda seducing parts.

Morris From America...a nice fish out of water, coming of age story. Craig Robinson is always good and charming. Liked this one.

Captain Fantastic...nice little movie. Viggo is always good and definitely doesn't disappoint here.

BR not the 4K version

Absolutely as craptastic as its' reputation. I usually enjoy mindless action movies but this one was struggling to make a case for even being made.

Audio and Video were A+ however. I can't remember the last time my surrounds worked that hard.

another ep of

still feeling the burnout on this. An apocalyptic event should naturally be dire, but somethings changed and I'm just not enjoying spending time with these characters as much as I used to. That, and I'm getting really sick of hissing zombies stabbed in the head and all the associated the gore and grue.

Had a hard time finding the right thing to watch last night. I pulled this set out as "oh, why the hell not?" option, and it turned out to be just the right tonic.
Absolutely bonkers exploitation. Much more over the top and stylish compared to the more or less standard opening chapter. Had a good time with it although thru the whole thing I was grinding my teeth over the amateurish and woefully ridiculous color grading. It's depressing to watch the trailers after watching the films and seeing how much more natural these movies should look. I enjoyed myself in spite of the Bd presentation, not because of it.
Arrow should have thrown these masters back in Toei's face and shelved the project until they delivered something more appropriate. It's a beautifully produced set (in terms of it's physical form/packaging), but it's all for naught as these are far from the definitive presentation of these grindhouse classics.

First saw this in the theaters. Since it first came out on home video, this has been a Thanksgiving tradition. Can't remember how many years we've been watching this.

I have that in my collection. I miss John Candy and those type of comedies.

Army of One

Probably the most annoying Nic Cage character ever lol though it was not that bad and better than most of the movies he has made since 2010.

Not sure why I rented this since I was not all that fond of it in the theater. Wife decided she didn't like it and went to bed. It certainly has some laughs but way too many f-bombs for her. I stuck with it but stick with my original assessment that none of the leads are very likeable and you hope they would all fall into the volcano. They purposely made the groom a little boring but I found he was the only character I cared about in the movie, because he was getting crapped on by everybody.

re: Last BD or 4K UHD disc you watched?

It finally turned a corner for me (I think it was the Morgan flashback episode) and I'm now fully back on board.
I think I'm only at mid season and they've had several several passages that have been as good/great as anything I've ever seen in the show- including walking back an unpleasant development in a way that wasn't a cheat, but obviously fully planned out.

I've only seen this one time prior and that may have been in the VHS era. It didn't click with me then- seemed way too over indulgent. Every aspect played much better for me this time, tho I still can't value it as much as stuff like The Professionals or the Bottechier/Scott westerns. Probably be another 10 years before I pull it out again, and by that time the transfer/encode is going to seriously be well past it's freshness date. It really already is, as I couldn't help but frequently think how much better this would have looked (and sounded?) had they worked from a 4K master today. Seeing this disc in 2006 I would have felt it was state of the art. Today I just see too much detail being slurred in motion to hit the disc size and bit rate limitations for the HD DVD format (which I was a big supporter of back then).
