Blood Simple CC - wow what a knock out debut from The Coen Brothers. Shamefully enough, I had never seen the film, but this Blu-ray was great!

I may have to give Blood Simple another go. I saw it for the first time about 12-13 years ago and didn't really care for it. I consider myself a big Coen Bros. fan, though I don't like Miller's Crossing either so I'm kind of an oddball there.

Yeah it wasn't good. I didn't outright hate it but it felt like a big waste of time.

Predator (3D)...effect was pretty non-existent, but the movie looked good for thirty. Always a fun movie.

Terminator: Genisys (3D)...what an unfun, befuddled hot mess. How this made so much globally is beyond me.

Two films that I haven't seen since they were played on regular HBO rotation many years ago. After reading Kurt Dahlke's review of "My Bodyguard," here at DVDTalk I wonder what credentials, if any, are required to be a movie reviewer. When your criticisms are as inane as "...women are curiously absent from the movie. Ruth Gordon and Joan Cusack (as one of Clifford's classmates) clock about 6 lines combined, while most of the rest of the movie is given over to various teen boys playing grab-ass and sharing motorcycle rides." That's like criticizing "The Women," or "Steel Magnolias" for the absence of men. And then there's the pièce de résistance... "My Bodyguard may have seemed slightly gritty to the quiche and fern crowd, but its safe-haven look at school bullying now reads like a dollop of Soft-Scrub, severely hampered by Dave Grusin's flowery score, and a final message that the only real solution to bullying is to be bigger, stronger and meaner. Or to find someone who is..." What? How long did it take him to come up with that "brilliant" assessment? I feel like I watched an entirely different movie. Sometimes you just gotta laugh at that level of pretention.

Actually, these two films haven't lost a bit of charm. I really miss the days when a compelling story and great characters wonderfully entertained for a couple of hours. Some of these fresh, young faces are screen veterans today. I guess I will have to reach back to the past to continue enjoying such pleasures. By the way, where the hell is "Fade to Black?" That was the film I most associated with Dennis Christopher so many years ago.

Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates...started off promising, but quickly became silly and stupid.

Went to the theater to see that. Quickly found that in spite of the humor which was decent, that I really disliked everyone involved.

It seems everybody likes Anna Kendrick but sometimes she can be annoying.

A compelling story about race relations and a two year snapshot into the life of the famed runner at the Berlin Olympics. As a story it was very interesting. If you're worried about the country today with racism or anti-semitism, try being Black or Jewish at that time. WOW. I hate seeing that stuff. As a movie I found I was thinking it was longer than it actually was. I looked at the timer thinking it must be close to 2 hours when in fact it was at 1:15. Sudeikas was actually pretty good as the coach.

The Brave One

Mike & Dave Need Wedding Dates. The real guys who this movie was based on must have been really big douches lol. The massage scene was funny.

The first time it showed them as kids doing a curse filled rap I found it funny. By the third time I found it tiresome. Also, after the first few seconds of f-bombs you get the idea, they didn't need to do two or three minute songs of it. I know this got some pretty good reviews. I know many people find unlimited f-bombs funny. If you do you will love this movie.
