Yeah, all the Blu-ray shots look better to me than the HDTV shots. The first response is "Pathetic" I wouldn't expect anything less from AVS.

I believe they are claiming it was incorrectly framed. I havn't watched my copy yet so I havn't compared it yet.

I might have to bite on The Day the Earth Stood Still. Ah, decisions, decisions.

The Day The Earth Stood Still ALSO includes a copy of the 1951 movie, presumingly in HD as well.

Ah, yes... The one that just came out on BD a couple months ago and many fans presumably just bought. Nice job, Fox.

From DVD Times...

There is no word on specs for the 1951 version of the film, which was recently released as a Special Edition on DVD and Blu-ray. It is also not known if the Blu-ray Disc release will include the 1951 version on a DVD or Blu-ray (though we suspect it’ll be DVD, as giving away a $35 SRP Blu-ray just doesn’t seem like something Fox would do!).

A DVD makes more (cheaper) sense.

Listed for pre-order at amazon, but no release date.

I guess this belongs on "The History Channel" in the same way that "Road Rules" belongs on "Music Television".

Same reliable source at blu-ray.com says that the US release for Taken will be April 28.

A definite purchase for me. Hopefully this gets an unrated version.

It seems to have more to do with unnatural horizontal stretching. I agree many of those AVS threads are too critical. I can live with mild DNR if it improves greatly upon the DVD, although I don't like it.

But this stretching is another matter, and totally avoidable.
