That can't be true, no? I mean, it's only been out in the theaters in the U.S. for a little over two weeks. An April 28th release is a little over 8 weeks. That's pretty quick for a hit film. You'd think they'd milk it for all it's worth before a video release.

Bloody Disgusting says LionsGate is working on a BD release for Cabin Fever. No date yet, but obviously October would make sense.

Yeah, there's a trailer for it with a BD logo on The Midnight Meat Train.

I just watched this again last night. Terrific film IMO. Wasn't expecting much when I first saw it and it turned out much better than I expected. It's also beautifully shot so I'm definitely picking it up on BD.

Good movie. I'm in for the BD so I can toss the old DVD-r I have. Plus Rosamund Pike in HD. That's a Rosamund Pike

Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part III

From Bloody Disgusting.com

"We learned of some very interesting news that has me jumping for joy. We discovered that Fox Home Entertainment is currently working on brand new Blu-ray releases for Alien, Aliens and Alien 3. Each film is said to be released in a new special edition set with brand new special features made just for these releases! The only concern I have is Fox's lackluster Blu-ray releases, where the quality looks like a simple up-convert as opposed to a brand new transfer (see Predator, Commando, Donnie Darko and numerous others). No release date has been set, but I'm praying we see this before year's end."

Re: Blu-ray release announcements - Part III

The Aliens game was canceled for this yr (it and a new AVP game will be out next yr), so there goes a possible game tie-in... unless they waited for next yr. Hopefully they follow what they did with the X-Men trilogy.

Love both those movies. But I find now that the kids are older neither have any interest in most of the Disney/Pixar/kids stuff. I'll always own a copy of Monsters Inc., but I don't know if it will ever see the light of day again.

So, Jim, does this mean you'll be waiting for the kids to go to sleep, so you can sneak a peek at... Monsters, Inc.?

Pretty much. It used to be I had to wait for the kids to go to bed to watch action movies. Now I have to wait to watch family fair. My daughter is still more in to it than my son but at 17 going on 18 it's very rare for her to want to watch one like that.

Not diggin the pricing on the Pixar titles ($40 and $41), but Disney knows they can charge a premium on them and they'll still sell...

I think it's due to the digital copies, not because of what titles they are. The version of Wall-E with the digital copy was discounted to the same level as the 2-disc BD at some retailers, so it may have sold very well. I don't think they have any way of knowing how many of those people only bought it because the DC was "free," so they may have gotten the message that people apparently want this.

Hopefully, the retailers will also price these as if they were regular catalog titles.
