Brilliant site. Thanks!

Great deal on the Sony. But I learned my lesson last year. I jumped on a $199 HD-DVD player last September, only to find them much cheaper come Black Friday. I expect the same to happen this year. Although I own over 125 HD-DVD's, I'll get a BR player for $150 or less...

Lord Rick 09-23-08 04:49 PM

How about this:

SONY BDP-S300 Blu-Ray Player for $125 when you purchase 3 movies and PS3 remote + Free Super Saver Shipping

http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthr...light=bdp-s300

Old player, but a cheap way to get started in Blu-Ray.

Same situation as you, the order was placed prior to 09/01 and they did honor the old price guarantee. So I got my $5.00 back.

My refund request of $4.96 for Nightmare was approved today. Their email stated, "Only orders placed before September 1, 2008 are eligible for a price difference refund under the Post-Order Price Guarantee policy. As of September 1, 2008 we are no longer offering discounts if prices change on our website after you make a purchase."

Costco has several FOX BDs for $12.99. Titles seen are The Sentinel, Predator, Chain Reaction, Kiss of the Dragon and Commando.

Don't go hating on Amazon for made up reasons. If you're going to hate on Amazon, at least do it for real reasons.

As to the other prices, I don't follow Amazon every day. So I can't say what happened this weekend. But I know I was looking at this exact same sale last week. And these prices are all pretty much the same. All the $39.99 MSRP titles sold for $27.95. All the $34.98 MSRP titles sold for $23.95. All the $29.98 MSRP titles were either $20.95 or $19.95, I can't remember. Since they're $19.95 now, the price didn't go up. Unless Amazon dropped their prices on all these titles for a weekend, they didn't raise anything. And even if they did, these are the same prices they normally have and I'm reasonably certain they're no higher than they were last week during the same sale. Either your memory is off or Amazon returned to "normal" pricing after last weekend's weirdness.

Toldja!

Rgeardless, good deal. This spells good news for other Fox titles like Mr, Myself and Irene, ID4, Amityville and Carrie! I pre-ordered Young Frankenstein from Amazon...one of my first Fox titles in a long, long time.

I do see that Amazon dropped the price on some of the titles in its sale on Friday (after the sale was over) and did raise a few of them again on Monday (when the sale was reactivated). So for that you were right. Although I still maintain that the current prices are the normal "standard" for Amazon and they're not doing anything really shady in regards to pricing and their sale(s). And everything I stated in my posts was accurate.

You'll notice on September 15, they dropped the price on almost all the titles part of the Buy 2, Get 1 sale. And this was during the sale! The point of the post was that Amazon's not trying to rip people off, they just do weird pricing, and sometimes that pricing overlaps a sale.

Fox has dropped the MSRP on these titles to 19.99. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come.

FYI, free shipping is back at Columbia House and stacks with the B1G1 on Blu-rays. The code 805639.

About 300 movies and 15 TV series.....a few good titles, and pre-orders count for BOGO.

Why would anyone need a PS3 remote with that bundle? :hscratch:

If you don't have an open account, it's probably too late. The BOGO deal is only going to last a couple of more days and it usually takes at least that long to get an application approved.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. If you are the type of person who is always actively looking for BD deals, you MUST become a Columbia House member. Every 2-3 months they have a B1G1 that includes ALL of their titles, including pre-orders. And they have started to carry almost all new titles (Disney/BV excepted). There's really no downside.

aktick 09-24-08 09:25 AM

Haha, I just got an email this morning about the 2 B2G1 orders I placed Sunday night. They zeroed out Band of Brothers on an order of BoB, Godfather, Lost S4, and zeroed out Indy on an order of Indy, Wall-E, and Iron Man.

For me, their shipping prices have always made it cheaper to order elsewhere, especially when I get free two-day shipping from Amazon.

If you're ever paying a shipping charge you're not using CH right. But yeah, if you're paying for Prime, AND you only buy Blu Rays, then the "hassle" of working CH for the codes may not be worth it.

argh923 09-24-08 11:10 AM

CH Blu-Ray sale doesn't seem to be working...I added Constantine & LA Confidential to my cart, but neither is marked as free. In addition, the code #805639 doesn't work.

In that case, please enlighten me on how to never pay for shipping with CH.

But yeah...if it's available on BR, I won't buy the DVD.

It's working for me. Go to the DVD Clubs forum to learn the ins & outs of CH. BTW, this promotion is for www.columbiahouse.com accounts, not www.ch.com accounts(I don't know which site that you're trying to place the order on).

As SBJ just said, the whole clubs forum has this spelled out weekly in several threads it seems. Basically, wait for the free shipping codes/weekends combined with B1G1F, which come at least once a month historically.

CH regularly has site-wide free shipping promotions and/or codes. If you browse the clubs forum regularly you will always get a heads up. By my count, there have been 4 instances this year of a BD B1G1 that was stackable with free shipping. I have built the majority of my BD collection this way for very short $.

It's not intentional on Amazon's part. It's a combination of two promotions that happens to work.

Sell the PS3 remote if you don't need it.

Stupid question...on my B2G1 orders from Amazon, all were pre-orders. Godfather is now in stock - will it ship when available, or not until all 3 in my order (Band of Brothers, Lost, Godfather) are available?

If you chose free shipping, then you'll have to wait until December to see Don Vito.

Depends how you asked Amazon to ship them out. If you used free shipping, it should ship out when its really "in stock". If you paid for shipping you may have opted to ship when everything is available. Check your account.

Actually there is one huge downside and that is you can't select Blu-ray disk to enroll. I don't have a Blu-ray player yet, but I have stopped buying standard DVDs in anticipation of getting one. So I don't want to join CH and have to buy 5 or 6 standard DVDs that I don't want.

Actually, there is a Blu-Ray enrollment option, it is just not well publicized. It's only over the phone and you need a special code. If you browse the Clubs forum, there's a post all about it.

And even if you don't want SDs, its worth the $2.50 to join the club just for these sales. Give the DVDs away as gifts, or hell just throw them away. You can then fulfill your club commitment by buying Blu-rays at these sales.

kms_md 09-25-08 12:03 PM

i sent an email to amazon last night asking for a price adjustment for nightmare .... it was processed and issued within several hours. btw, i placed the order on 8/25.

I did choose free shipping...and honestly I don't mind waiting if it means saving on the shipping. I've got plenty to watch and do until then. But after looking it's only $5 more, so I'll take my movies now instead of December for the little.

Account showed Free Shipping, and not shipping until December 15. Changed it to Standard (just under $5 more total) and now the delivery estimates updated to actual release dates.

Thanks for the info guys, I guess I've never pre-ordered more than 1 item in an order.
