I wonder if they're going to leave their current large section of stagnant discs up for the holidays.

I hit up Fry's twice a week and always see a few people browsing and grabbing movies (who knows if they don't know they don't work in normal DVD players), but yeah, those prices are still a bit too much. If they knocked some down to $5.99 I'd probably buy a bunch more...but they don't seem to care about that.

Fry's, of course, still has a HUGE selection of UMD movies so... [and N-Gage games...that "console" died like 4 years ago]

What are Fry's prices like on all their catalog HD-DVD releases now?

Are they down to $9.99 or less permanently yet? I haven't been into Fry's in a while.

Between 2.99 (Weinsten) to $14.99 (some Uni/Warner discs). Most hover around $7.99 - $9.99 though.

They're still selling many discs for 11.99 , so 9.99 is apparently a deal. :)

They must have bought a ton of that Canadian stock, because almost all the Uni stuff is bilingual, and they have boxes and boxes of it underneath the actual racks.

Boxes. No you are wrong. They have storage bins filled with them  ! I have no idea how Fry's will ever sell 200 copies of Bruce Almighty.

Kitaro Blu-ray at Newlime for $8.95 pre-order. Some other good prices here and there and $6 flat rate shipping...

Do you know which Weinsteins are $2.99? Thanks.

Gizmo 09-30-08 09:19 AM

Pulse and Wolf Creek IIRC.

Get a free HD DVD of Evan Almighty with every stick of gum purchased

nmr1723 09-30-08 01:46 PM

Amazon 66% off of select HD DVD's...

Not as good as the DDD sale...but not bad.

Mr. Cinema 10-01-08 02:55 PM

You can also see this deal on the main HD forum page, but Amazon has Transformers now for $19.95.

BravesMG 10-01-08 03:53 PM

Sex and the City BD also 19.95 right now on Amazon.

mattysemo247 10-01-08 04:45 PM

Speed Racer is also $19.95 @ Amazon

bunkaroo 10-01-08 05:03 PM

Dammit - first casualty of the now defunct Amazon 30 Day price guarantee - Speed Racer. Wasn't going to get it but decided to order it the day before release for $5 more.

Well that's all for my impulse buys at Amazon. At least I'm still eligible to get $4 back on SATC.

It's not available if you look for the title by itself. It can only be pre-ordered at this price from this page.

Is there something special you have to do? The page you linked shows the DVD version at 14.99.

That's weird. That's what it is now. When I pre-ordered it, it was the Blu-ray version. Well I guess that was obviously a mistake. Sorry about that.

Mr. Cinema 10-02-08 10:53 AM

Amazon has the Samsung 1500 for $244.

Mr. Cinema 10-02-08 01:05 PM

The Dark Knight preorder

They've really messed up on this one. Even now, it says "One of the Year's Must-See Films Available on DVD and Blu-ray." But they only include a link to the SD version, and when you click the Preorder link, it adds that version to your cart. Why would they advertise an SD version on the Blu-Ray page?

Only $2.99 HD-DVD's I saw last weekend at Fry's in Campbell (CA) was Pulse. I think Daylight was $3.99.

It should be in the "OMG! The Dark Knight is like the greatest movie ever" thread.

mdc3000 10-03-08 05:15 PM

^Yeah, all 30 of them.

laserken 10-04-08 06:32 PM

A heads up if you're looking for a backup HD-DVD player on the cheap.. Meijer had several new-in-box RCA HDV5000 units at $49.95 today on a clearance table-- $45 after you use a 10% off in-store coupon. YMMV, but I suspect many stores are clearing out any stock they have.

Today's Mercury News is showing Pulse and Clerks 2 for $2.99
I have Clerks 2, bought it in release date, and it's a must buy at $2.99 if you kinda like Kevin Smith. Of course I paid $27 and it was worthy, but I'm huge fan.

Raul3 10-06-08 01:38 PM

Today I went to Target, bough a bottle of Tylenol, and received a $5 off coupon for a Blu-Ray movie. It expires in 11/26

I don't know how Target coupons work, if they release them nation wide or not, but be in the look up when you buy something there. I live in the Bay Area btw.

Retracting thread crap since this is a bargain thread, sorry.

Great deal on Pulse!

Lost Season 4 on Blu can be had at Wherehouse.com for $55.99 plus shipping. Best price so far plus if you have any credit through them, FYE/Suncoast credit, or something to trade in you can get it cheaper.

So by Tylenol and I get a $5 off BD coupon? Odd combination...

jiggawhat 10-07-08 01:19 AM

I bought a swiffer refill and got that same coupon at Target.

Not bad but shipping puts it at $59.50. Amazon is $63 + free shipping. I'll probably just stick with that. Although with the couple orders I've had with Wherehouse, I've been impressed with shipping speed.

borders.com has it for $53.19 plus tax(free shipping).

Per the new Circuit City ad for Oct 12 posted by Speedy:

If you buy the Samsung BD-P1500 for $249, you get The Matrix Collection for FREE.

That is a terrific deal.

Crap. I might have to tell a few friends about this.

I should get another BD player and just sell the Matrix Collection to recoup some money. ;)

DthRdrX 10-07-08 07:53 PM

Is the player any good? Sorry, I havn't kept up to date on the hardware side of things.

Gizmo 10-07-08 08:04 PM

Just got updated to Profile 2.0 today.

Wow, that's a great deal. I need to get myself a player but not until the middle of November. I'm really tempted to buy new, even though I have Matrix coming from Warner Home Video already. Any thoughts on whether to keep waiting for deals around Christmas or just buy now?

I would have guessed there would be at least equivalent deals heading into the holidays.

Arpeggi 10-08-08 12:07 AM

Samsung players are shit.
