They must be trying to dump them because the prices keep going down. I wonder if we'll see $3-$4 deals soon. I'm not getting rid of my HD DVD players or movies so I might buy a lot of titles still.

Ordered:

Streets of Fire
Mallrats
The Heartbreak Kid
and
American History X (Blu-Ray)

Not bad for $29.99

For its age and popularity Streets of Fire looks flat-out fantastic.

Will probably grab Anchorman. What else should I get, got $10 left on my Verizon rebate card: The Rundown, The Sting, or The Game? Thoughts?

Will probably pre-order Tango & Cash, American History X, and maybe Above the Law once my Amazon card is paid off a little more :D

P.S.: I never seem to see Black Rain included in any HD DVD deals nowadays.

You can't go wrong with "The Sting". It gets my endorsement, anyway.:)

Mother. Fucker. I just bought Shooter and a couple others, and now Shooter and several others I kept in my cart for later dropped form 8 to 5. I know it's only 3 bucks, but [Gob Bluth] COME ON! [/GOB BLUTH] :D

If they haven't shipped yet you should be able to cancel and re-order. I myself did this for a few titles.

I tried that, but they're apparently shipping "soon" so the system won't let me. I emailed Amazon a few mins after I saw the price change; hopefully they'll throw me a bone.

Edit: A bone was thrown!

Thank you for writing to Amazon.com.

The discounts we offer on items on our website do vary from time to time.

I've checked your order, and found that we currently offer a greater discount on "Shooter [HD DVD] (2007)" than at the time you placed your order.

Since this item has not yet shipped, I have adjusted the price to reflect the current discounted price, $5.00. This is the price you will be charged when the order ships.

amazon UK site has Planet Earth on Blu-ray for $21 (Euros) plus $3 (Euros) to ship to us in the US via airmail. Worked out to about $33 in real dollars shipped. Set shows up as $25 euros on the site but the price drops in your basket. I've held off, nearly bought the HD-DVD, but this works out to darn near the same price, and it isn't Sigourney Weaver.

Wow, wonder what caused the big change or if it will be like this with all their catalog releases or just that date or if other studios might finally bring the catalog releases down some. They're just killing me. $25 for Pretty Woman?

American History X was a definite pick-up, as was The Wedding Singer. Now I just might add Point of no Return. For $15 I might want some Bridget Fonda in HD]

Well, the MSRP is the same, so it may be Amazon that's applying these discounts. I don't know if this will be the case for all Warner titles in non-digibook packaging, or just these titles that I assume would be in less demand. These might be the results of that lower price for distributors that we heard about.

Pretty Woman is from Disney, who seem to think that raising prices would be a good idea.

Thanks. BD pricing is really frustrating.

The Secret Life of Bees (released last Tuesday) just dropped to $20.99. If you order together with Antwone Fisher you get a further $5 off.

Dave, that's Pounds, not Euros. The price drops in the basket because Amazon removes the VAT.

This price has been around for quite awhile. It's a great deal and I would have done it myself but I do have the HD DVD. According to reviews, the two are basically identical so I've just stuck with what I already had.

Got an email from Frys.com (i imagine this would work with in-store pickup?)

Passion of the Christ 18.99 2/6-2/12

Lol at it being part of the "Valentine's Gift Ideas." I could see for an Easter promotion.... but Valentine's Day? Not exactly the movie to watch to get ya in the mood...

You mean you don't want to see a fictional character be killed on Valentines Day?

??

Even if you don't subscribe to Christianity, there's no question that Jesus existed. Believe what you want about him, but the fact that he existed is quite soundly documented.

I'll definitely agree that it's an unusual choice to release it during the week of Valentine's Day. The week before Easter would've been the obvious choice.

Right...and next your going to tell me Noah's Ark is real and its just chilling on a mountaintop that apparently no one can go to and confirm its existence because its magical and that it held millions of animals - one male and one female - and they lived off food as well for all those days and night. :)

I actually didn't mean my comment in that way - I just think there may be better movies to buy and watch a 2-14 then that one. Sorry if I disrupted the bargains thread. Athiest out.

Wonder if it comes with an English track and not subtitles (loved getting people swaring Wal-mart carried it with English audio tracks).

Pounds, Euros, it's not realy money. That was the point. -wink-

Yeah, I had an order in for the HD-DVD at some crazy low price before and the order got killed. Neither would bother me. Been some great HD-DVD deals lately.

Wow, that's weird. I clicked on this thread hoping to learn about Blu-Ray bargains, and instead was taken to a religous discussion about the existence of Noah's Ark.

Closing for length and ridiculous and unnecessary religious/anti-religious interjections. This shouldn't be the kind of thread we need to moderate.
