Not worth the hassle for me.

dsa_shea 09-21-08 01:06 PM

I called again and the next CSR told me that she did get an email this morning and they're working to get this sale fully functional on the website. I did get my order of 2 BOB sets and one LOST: Season 4 adjusted to get one of the BOB sets for free. One hour of time is is worth 60 dollars worth of free product.

Rule #47. Never call.

A reason we're saying not to call is that, generally, calls do more damage than good. CSRs often screw up your order more than fix it. Many times over the years people have called and made "deals" disappear for everyone else.

An email, clearly describing the order, what went wrong, and what they need to do to fix it, is much quicker, and usually more effective.

Never call.

Edit to add this OT comment: Am considering deleting one old post of mine for every new post, to stay on this cool post count of 7,777.

dsa_shea 09-21-08 01:28 PM

If it is something that is an obvious glitch then don't call. This is not a glitch so there is no problem with calling. Now, Amazon could change their mind about the sale and delete it at anytime so you better get your order in. You never know how long any any of their sales are going to last.

dsa_shea 09-21-08 01:36 PM

But an email could also simply be "overlooked" and nothing actually be done to fix your order. Then you have to argue after the fact to get them to fix the price. This way I saw an immediate adjustment to the total price that I would be charged for the items ordered. Now, I did go ahead and actually pay for shipping on each item since some of the items are more than a month apart on release dates.

clckworang 09-21-08 02:16 PM

Amazon has always been really good about answering emails. My response last night came less than an hour after I sent it, so I don't think many emails are overlooked. This is an online retailer; they expect more email than phone calls.

Eriecke23 09-21-08 02:25 PM

I just placed an order through Amazon, and I didn't get a free blu ray title either. I'll update this after I hear back from them

I sure hope so. I just feel more comfortable talking to someone and having something done immediately. I just sent and email off to WHV to cancel a few pre-orders and I'm expecting to have to call them to actually get it done. I tried already and they're closed.

BravesMG 09-21-08 02:33 PM

Worked for me. I ordered Transformers, The Mist, and 1408, rang up without the B2G1. I sent an email to customer service and they actually refunded me the amount of the highest price disc, which was Transformers at $24.95.

tlwizard 09-21-08 02:54 PM

So it looks like the Criterions are a great value.

Matrix and Dirty Harry are not good values in the sale (based on the available prices at WHV). Likewise, Godfather and Band of Brothers do seem like a good deal.

Any other really good options?

Sweet Baby James 09-21-08 03:00 PM

Just received a response and they did deduct the lowest priced item of my order.

mdc3000 09-21-08 03:52 PM

Just got an email as well and they took off one of my titles... I bought Torchwood:s1, Universal Unrated Comedy collection (sarah marshall etc.) and Damages:s1 - Damages was free... SWEET. May have to order Band of Brothers, Lost:s4 and something else.

Gizmo 09-21-08 04:03 PM

The glitch is over...right?

mdc3000 09-21-08 04:15 PM

Pressing my luck - just placed an order for Incredible Hulk, Sweeney Todd and Sleeping Beauty - sent the email for adjustment!

Moopher 09-21-08 04:15 PM

doesn't seem like it.. In the bargains thread many people seem to be reporting quick responses with the according price adjustments.

mdc3000 09-21-08 04:44 PM

Got my adjustment just now for an order I placed/emailed 30 minutes ago. BUY BUY BUY!

Goldberg74 09-21-08 05:04 PM

Took a shot at Ironman, Incredible Hulk, and Wall-E. If it goes through, that's $19 a piece.

Now to sit back and wait.

Got a reply just now. Within minutes!

Gonna make another order now!

Whahooo!

Brent L 09-21-08 05:22 PM

I just tried for three of the Blu-rays, and shot an email to Amazon. I'll post again if/when I hear back from them.

Arpeggi 09-21-08 05:36 PM

My Nightmare Before Christmas shipped at full price. My free one is Leatherheads. If it ships for free tomorrow, I'm good!

Goldberg74 09-21-08 06:28 PM

Thinking about pulling the trigger on Lost 3, Lost 4, and Bond Vol. 2.

Hmmmm......

Do it now!!! If I hadn't already ordered a shitload during this CH B1G1F Blu-Ray deal I would be placing more orders. I'm trying to group some release coming out later so that I can order now and get them down the road.

macnorton 09-21-08 06:33 PM

Placed two orders half hour ago, no response yet. Hopefully I get the deal.

PerryD 09-21-08 06:57 PM

Gave it a shot, cancelled my Godfather order, and created a new one with the 2 Bond collections. I'll have to think about cancelling my Wall-E and Iron Man preorders that I used with a gold box discount if it works for me.

Gizmo 09-21-08 06:59 PM

I canceled a whole bunch of single pre-orders and re-ordered to hopefully get the discount. Looks like many others are getting in on it...so I see no reason why I won't either.

Goldberg74 09-21-08 07:14 PM

With cash pretty tight now, I went for the Bond Vol 2 movies as singles so I get the three that I want for around $16 a piece...

... if this one goes through too.

flix1 09-21-08 08:41 PM

No responses for me on my 3 emails after 12 hours. I cancelled my box set order, as I did not like the risk of possibly having to pay full price.

Gizmo 09-21-08 08:46 PM

All my orders were pre-orders...not too concerned.

flix1 09-21-08 08:53 PM

I have yet to pick up Planet Earth, and if this deal was guaranteed, it would have been a perfect opportunity to get it ... it was included in my box set order. Maybe I'll try again with pre-orders ... less risk.

PopcornTreeCt 09-21-08 09:15 PM

Is this still going on? I'm late to the party... was there a Buy 2 Get 1 Free for all Blu-rays? Doesn't seem to work for me. :(

Gizmo 09-21-08 09:16 PM

You have to e-mail Amazon and tell them to "adjust" it for you. Just say you got an e-mail saying it was Buy 1 get 1 Free on all Blu-rays...seems to be working for everyone else. Me, 2 hours later, still waiting for adjustments...

PerryD 09-21-08 09:49 PM

Uh, oh, the link for this sale now states the following:

Blu-ray 3 for 2 Sale
For every two Blu-ray titles purchased, get a third one free when you add them all to your Shopping Cart.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We're sorry, this sale has ended

Liquid Death 09-21-08 10:04 PM

I would hope they would honor the 'deal' for everyone who placed orders and sent follow-up emails prior to when that was posted.

Gizmo 09-21-08 10:20 PM

Got all my refunds! Time to order more!!!!

I see. Amazon has been good to me. I don't feel like defrauding them. Now if you'll excuse me I'm off to download some torrents...

:)

Maybe try again?

I got a response to my one email in a matter of minutes. I wrote customer service through the promotional offers subject.

tonymontana313 09-21-08 10:58 PM

Got all my adjustments as well. I wonder if heads are going to roll for this one.

Moopher 09-21-08 11:00 PM

what's the longest anyone has had to wait so far? I sent them an email at 7:30 right after I placed my order.. It's been 3.5 hours now.

Gizmo 09-21-08 11:02 PM

They'll get to it...don't worry.
