Alright good deal. They're all preorders anywayso I'm not too worried, but I can wait patiently, I was just curious.

Michael Corvin 09-22-08 12:10 AM

I placed one around 5pm and one around 9pm. I've heard nothing on either, but like you, they're all preorders.

I didn't use the general email form, I used the one from the Promotions Help section.

Click that link and then the Contact Us button, choose your order, click email, and then from the pull down for the subject, choose "General Inquiry."

Both of my responses came quickly after using that form.

Time for another order.

Working at a Radio Shack I'm completely aware their prices suck, but if this was in store this would be a  deal.

Add a cheap filler to get over $200 and use coupon code 20STUFF08 to get $20 off the order.

Just got a weird response from Amazon re: one of my emails for the B2G1F deal...anyone else get this?

Thank you for writing to Amazon.com to bring this to our attention.

I'm sorry your order total was calculated incorrectly. I researched your order confirmed that it qualifies for the promotional discount you mentioned.

We'll be glad to issue a refund of these additional charges. However, because you are not charged until your items ships, we can't issue a refund until the entire order has been shipped. I apologize for this inconvenience.

Please visit the following link to provide the information we

I hope this solution is satisfactory. Thank you for shopping at Amazon.com.

abrg,

Thats a new one. I got the e-mail everyone else got 4 times (for 4 different orders) and I just checked My Account...and it all looks fine.

clckworang 09-22-08 12:27 PM

I now really wish I had made a couple of more orders. There were some really good titles in the 13.99-14.99 range. I didn't want to push my luck, though.

But it looks like I was able to get credited for my pre-orders, and considering I already had all of those discs ordered already, I can only save money.

I was hoping they would keep the sale open for another day or two. :(

I only did Pre-Ordered titles...just in case the deal never went through I wouldn't be stuck with some titles I really didn't want.

It's been removed from the site. My guess is that the sale price of $299.99 was not supposed to be combined with the $100.00 instant rebate. It was probably supposed to be $299.99 after the instant rebate.

Damn, I should have jumped on it but I have been happy with my Samsung BD-P1400 so I was hesitating. That $20 coupon would have made it even more attractive.

Yes, but it's a 1.0 player, just like my Samsung BD-P1400. It's not an upgrade. The Samsung BD-P1500 is a 1.1 player with a promised upgrade eventually to 2.0.

What prices were raised? I know Predator was recently on sale for $13.95 or something, but those are their standard prices given the MSRPs. It's not as if they raised prices over what they normally charge. Should we complain that they didn't retain a sale price and then allow you to B2G1 free?

Sale? No, the $13.95 price was not a sale - Amazon upped it for the promotion.

I guarantee you as soon as this B2G1 free ends, Predator, Commando and the whole bunch will drop right down to the typical $13.95/$14.95 price. Amazon ups the prices up purpose making the B2G1 Free sales barely even a "sale".

Looking at that list the following titles were upped $1 - $6.

Terminator 2, Commando, Predator, Master and Commander, I, Robot, Man on Fire, Day after Tomorrow, Butch Cassidy, Scissorhands, Mr Brooks. That just off my memory. Take a look at the previous Amazon glitch sale from the pas few days...people posted their orders and many ordered titles that are far less in price than what they have today.

Drexl 09-22-08 04:27 PM

Well, I hope you're right, because my brother was wanting me to order Predator for him for $13.95, but I don't think either of us needs any of the other titles in this promotion.

Predator is $14.99 right now at Target along with Commando.

Drexl is correct. These are the same prices that Amazon had a week ago when they were running the same B2G1 sale (well at least after they adjusted the MSRPs and lowered some of the prices). The only title on that list that went up from last week was Predator, which seemed to have an incorrect MSRP before.

Don't go hating on Amazon for made up reasons. If you're going to hate on Amazon, at least do it for real reasons.

Amazon had Predator listed with a $19.98 MSRP, which by all accounts was an error. I don't see any other e-tailers with that MSRP, so that low price by Amazon seems like an error. You'll see that Predator is back up to "normal" Fox MSRP.

As to the other prices, I don't follow Amazon every day. So I can't say what happened this weekend. But I know I was looking at this exact same sale last week. And these prices are all pretty much the same. All the $39.99 MSRP titles sold for $27.95. All the $34.98 MSRP titles sold for $23.95. All the $29.98 MSRP titles were either $20.95 or $19.95, I can't remember. Since they're $19.95 now, the price didn't go up. Unless Amazon dropped their prices on all these titles for a weekend, they didn't raise anything. And even if they did, these are the same prices they normally have and I'm reasonably certain they're no higher than they were last week during the same sale. Either your memory is off or Amazon returned to "normal" pricing after last weekend's weirdness.

clckworang 09-22-08 05:47 PM

Amazon typically keeps the Blu-rays at about 30% off the MSRP, which nearly all of the titles listed in this sale are. Some are even a little more than 30%. I would say these prices are fairly consistent with their normal Blu-ray prices. But it does seem like there are fewer listed than last time.

Gizmo 09-22-08 06:42 PM

As soon as the sale ends, you will see numerous titles in this "sale" drop in price. I'm not going to bother debating it. This happens every single time Amazon has some sort of sale - regardless if its Blu-ray or HD DVD in the past, prices go up a few bucks and as soon as its over, they drop back down to normal. Now that there is no longer a Price Guarantee, you get stuck paying the higher price due to the BOGO. We all use to make out like pigs getting B2G1Free and then getting $3-$7 back (per title, Even the free ones) using the 30 day guarantee.

Fox Introduces New $20 Retail Price Level for Blu-ray
Posted in Amazon, Studios on September 20th, 2008 by Dave

In a surprise move, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment appears to have introduced a new pricing level.

While back in March Fox introduced a $30 retail price for some of its less popular releases, the studio is now following Lionsgate with a budget level $20 retail pricing strategy for a subset of the studio's older releases.

Titles with the new $20 retail price tag according to Amazon include Commando, Predator, Kiss of the Dragon, Men of Honor, Pathfinder, Chain Reaction, Entrapment, The Hills Have Eyes 2: Unrated, The Sentinel and Courage Under Fire.

These titles now list for $14.95 at Amazon.
Lets take a look at Predator, one of the titles listed above, claiming to be $14.95 on Amazon posted just a few days ago:

http://www.amazon.com/Predator-Blu-r...2126669&sr=1-1
$19.95

Hmm...Ok, but the price was just a mistake?

Now look at Amazon:

Here is Entrapment - one of the titles listed above and NOT in the B2G1Free
http://www.amazon.com/Entrapment-Blu...2126516&sr=8-2
$14.95

How about another title not in the B2G1 Free:
http://www.amazon.com/Hills-Have-Eye...2126591&sr=1-5
$14.95

One more not in the B2G1 Free:
http://www.amazon.com/Commando-Blu-r...2126625&sr=1-2
$14.95

See the pattern? If its part of the B2G1Free they raise the price. If its not, it stays the same.

I don't understand your point. You claimed the titles in the sale were raised in price, but now you reference an article for titles completely NOT in the sale (save for Predator). What's your point again?

Also, does any other e-tailer list the supposed new $20 MSRP for Fox titles? I'd like to see more than some random posting on the internet to confirm these prices. Plus, the titles in this sale have been the same since before the September 20th posting you listed. Its not like Amazon actively took out titles from the sale.

dsa_shea 09-22-08 06:55 PM

I think that he is stating that lower priced Fox items are raised up during the sale to recoup some loss and then lowered back to the original price once the sale ends.

All those titles have been marked $14.95 for several days on Amazon.com. Predator got bumped up in price a day after due to the previous B2G1 Free BOGO (it was offered at $14.95 for a very short time during that BOGO), then dropped again for a day, and then when the new BOGO started, got bumped back up. Ive been watching it because Ive been debating buying it.

No e-tailer right now shows the new prices (though I havn't really cared to look). Target has already lowered the price of several titles on that list (Predator, Commando) as they do not carry all of them. Amazon tends to drop prices right away while others sit on them for a while.

Just to show you I am not lying here, posted 9/15:

Right now Predator and Commando are $14 and $15 respectively.

(Commando $14)

I was wrong, Predator was $6 cheaper then it is now, part of the BOGO.

Oh, I believe you that Predator was cheaper. I noticed the price drop too. I thought it was an error, as no other e-tailer had that price and the MSRP was down to $20. I didn't buy it as I already own it. But it was the only title in the sale that was that low. As Amazon raised its prices back up, I wonder if the price drop was legit or an error. I have no idea, as I don't follow all the news that closely.

My only point was that Predator was the only movie in the current sale which went up in price from last week. And I though that change was an error. Thus the complaint of higher prices during this sale seems erroneous. Other discs may change in price, but since they're not part of this sale, what does it matter?

They won't do price protection after the purchase anymore, as of 9/1.

An AVS member named cinemasquid has a website that tracks all of the price changes at Amazon for blu-rays.

http://www.cinemasquid.com/PriceAdjustments.aspx

It makes tracking the increases and decreases easy and he also has captures from about 60+ movies on the site.
