Here's another release date for HD-DVD:

Smokin' Aces: 04/1707 with msrp at $39.98 in combo form.

Definate buy for me.

Wow, that was quick. Can't wait.

Might rent it ... I couldn't follow the storyline in theaters.

I'm curious to see how the remake came out so I'll probably pick this up. I like the 1986 version but the dvd is simply unwatchable on my projector.

I have not watched it since I got my projector and BD. It is amazing how bad some DVD releases were when you blow them up to 100" and get used to HD. Pop Jurassic Park II in. I did not watch the whole movie, but the opening chapters were awfull.

Children of Men is definitely one I would pick up if it were on BD. It should be a pretty good seller for HD DVD.

Definately don't buy it, rent it... I've only walked out on five films in my life, and this re-make was one of them.

Think Psycho remake, without the solid source material, and quality talent. (And we all know how good that was...)

I didn't think The Hitcher was that bad, but I'm certainly not going to rush out to buy it...worth a rental for Sophia Bush.

Kocheese99 02-25-07 02:27 PM

my distributor is showing that:

Closer: 05/22/07 with msrp of $28.95 for blu-ray

totally picking that up.

Are they even trying any more?

I suspect that these and other recent delays are due to AACS device key revocation. It may be the reason for Universal's lack of releases as well.

The Weinstein Company? They don't have much with which to try.

Kocheese99 02-26-07 12:23 PM

expect apocolypto to come to BR on 05/22/07 with MSRP of $34.99

ianholm 02-26-07 07:47 PM

Apocalypto should be a sweet looking/sounding disc.

Some more upcoming Blu-Ray:

Revenge (dir. cut) 5/8

Donnie Brasco (dir. cut) 5/8

All three are non combos as well so will probably be $19.99 titles at Amazon.

I think his complaint has more to do with the choice of titles that the studio is digging out of their closet.

Kate Hudson and Burt Reynolds in HD don't excite you.;)

On a slightly more serious note, if this is the best Universal has to offer, HD-DVD is dead.

given it was shot with Panavision Genesis HD cameras, and even the 35mm print I saw looked like looking out from a window, this will look great
