YMMV on this one... but look at this guys:

This was at a checkout line in an ACME supermarket (Albertson's). I'm going to check it out to see if I find any others. Not a huge deal but keep your eyes open.

Haven't read the whole thread, but I finally got Aeon Flux and it was from Walmart.com. It was $19.97 and shipping was $.97. Nice to see that they have stuff, and the price isn't bad. Finally not raping on s/h either.

Its been announced for release in Japan on 6th December, so I would imagine the US release will be around the same time.

Yeah, im still wondering about the quality and if BD50 will be available by then. I have a feeling it might be delayed.

Also, the prices of the players have to come down a bit for me. I imagine next year, a good player will be available for the price of the A1. If there is one this fall (as speculated by a couple people), I would look into it, but only if the release quality gets better.

Like HD-DVD did, Sony and its studios might be throwing up titles to get press, but have to delay them. It wouldnt surprise me. We will see. Thats the one thing that made me mad at hd-dvd was the promised titles that we still havent heard any dates for.

Is that $18.99 after or before the 10% off? And what are they charging for shipping?

The freakin' annoyance about pre-ordering on BB.com is that you HAVE to pay shipping - in-store pickup isn't an option.

I thought on AVS there was a thread saying you can get 10% off HD DVD purchases at BB.

Didja bother to read it? There's a coupon for this weekend. It's not "ongoing."

No, I didn't, because I don't use BB for my HD DVDs.

It kills it for pre-ordering. Is there any indication that these will be $18.99 when they are released??

They should be $19.99 at Amazon as long as they aren't combos. If you go pick them up it wouldn't be much more, but by the time you factor in the Amazon advantage of the 10% discount, no shipping charges if you order more than one, and no sales tax, it's not that big of a deal.

It is encouraging that they may be lowering prices soon though.

I'll be using my RZ certificates so that will significantly lower it.

Regarding this so-called BB deal:

1) You can't do in-store pickups for preorders.
2) Who knows what the price will be when you can.
3) You still have to pay sales tax (well most of us do anyway)
4) You can pre-order all of these NOW for $18 shipped at Amazon.

So, short of anyone not having a credit card to order online or wanting to use some RZ certs, why are we even considering this a deal?

Because IF you can pick them up in store for $18 on release day, it's a helluva lot better than they've been offering and still cheaper than Amazon (albeit before taxes).

Jeez....i didn't realize it was going to get picked apart this much.

They are NOT cheaper than Amazon, even before taxes.

The only benefit I can see right now in getting from BB is:

1) instant gratification
2) you'd like to burn some RZ bucks

Exactly right...unfortunately, shipping from Amazon has been spotty for hd-dvd preorders. I would pay a couple more dollars to have them on release day. Im really excited about Troy. Lethal Weapon 2 I could wait on.

Ill rent HOW and Space Cowboys was terrible.

Keep checking the DVD bargains area and we should see the Best Buy ad for that week soon. Target ad is already up (of course no hd-dvds in it).

I'm just picked up a couple because my player arrives today and I some of the ones I wanted from Amazon weren't in stock. I realize I'm paying more but wanted them now.

Nice. After the 10% off that comes to about $50... Much more tempting than the $70.
