Im completely agree...I also bet it will be an awesome sounding disc...I cant wait.

IMO, the movie was a bit long, but the action scenes were some of the best ever shot.

Why the hell didn't Universal get Scarface out? They want to sell discs then Scarface and King Kong would be one helluva combo for the fall.

Actually found passing on this SD release wasnt that difficult at all. Just wasnt impressed with this film at all. If I ever do get it, it will be more for just completing the trilogy than anything else.

PS..

Off topic, but I just watched the DVD yesterday and I wish I never did. I honestly can't see how anyone who liked the first ones could enjoy X3. I would love to own X-Men 1 + 2 on an HD format though.

More like X-meh

I can't believe Fox allowed Ratner to pretty much piss on the franchise Singer had created.

The thing is, the problems with the movie really had nothing to do with Ratner. His direction was fine, and in deliberate imitation of Singer's established style for the series. The problems were all in the script, which Ratner had little to nothing to do with.

I agree on the problems being with the script. I bet thats why Singer didn't have too much trouble leave to do Superman.

I had a $5 reward zone certificate and dropped in Best Buy today. Luckily, this one also put out Army of Darkness early. They had 2 copies, priced at $29.99, which is $5 lower than what the website suggests. Getting ready to watch it.

Very good news for Carl Sagan fans. Just got done talking to Joadie Reynolds over at Cosmos Studios and Cosmos is being outfitted for a HD release as we speak. I am a huge huge huge fan of Sagan and Cosmos and there are very few titles that can stand to be improved as much as this could be in HD. Probably be like a 2 disc set, maybe 3 tops. How sweet would it be to have the Cosmos series in a simle 2 disc set. I am just lovin HD more and More every day!!

Thats exactly, my reasoning too. Loved the first two, but the last one sucked. I will get it to complete the trilogy and for the special effects in HD

Why would you get a movie that sucks just because they stuck a "3" on the end of it? I'm doing my best to forget that movie ever happened, and you couldn't pay me to own it.

Adding to the derailment - I found X3 very entertaining. Sure I would've liked another 20-30 minutes to focus on the new characters... but it's a fun ride regardless. I look forward to owning the trilogy on HD.

Im a huge X-men fan and despite not liking the movie, I did enjoy the fight scenes and special effects. Im especially a fan of Jean Grey and this was the one movie where she got a bigger role. Plus Im a completist and I already have hte 1st 2 movies so I have to get this one

Three things:

Someone over on AVS was saying that The Descent would be on BD50.

Click(Oct 10th), Black Hawk Down(Nov 14th), and Talladega Nights(Dec 12th) have been officially announced from Sony today.

Sopranos Season 6, part 1 has been delayed on Hd-dvd. No new release date given.

Some news from AVS:

I got a chance to look at a few of the most recent Uni titles, including The Interpreter.
Universal has encoded The Interpreter using MPEG4AVC.
The Thing is no longer a combo title, but
None of the titles seem to carry the TrueHD soundtracks many were looking forward to.

Any idea if the other movies that day are going to have TrueHD?

7.1 on releases?

So, since 7.1 is possible with DD+, are there any plans from any studios to release anything in the near future with 7.1 surround?

From Robert Harris on HTF:

"Word has been leaked that Warner has plans to release new HD transfers of the 1962 Mutiny on the Bounty, a 65mm anamorphic production, as well as Forbidden Planet (CinemaScope) in November.

Apparently additional unused footage has been found and may appear as an extra for FP.

BD discs will follow in early 2007.

Forbidden Planet sounds like a great HD title. I'm not too familiar with the 1962 version of Mutiny on the Bounty (more familiar with 1935 version with Clark Gable/Charles Laughton), but may buy it nonetheless.

The vast majority of Hollywood features are only mixed for 5.1.

I guess SDDS does not count since it is not Dolby. SDDS is 7.1 or 9.1, right? I can't remember which.
