While my wife doesn't watch near as many movies, she does join in each October for a handful. I'm starting to run out of candidates as she doesn't rewatch movies often so I figured I should ask for any recommendations. While she has enjoyed a small variety including Jaws, Silence of the Lambs, She especially enjoys the ones with a group of characters(especially kids to young adults) banding together to fight a supernatural threat: Monster Squad, Lost Boys, and Silver Bullet were some of her favorites in recent years (along with Stranger Things). You can see the tone of her favorites tends to be lighter if they aren't thrillers like Silence of the Lambs. I'm thinking we might try Sumer of '84 or Zombieland next. Are there any lesser known ones in that "kids on bicycles" vein?

Thora Birch or Joe Dante? I suspect you are referring to the Joe Dante one and I enjoyed it thought it isn't my favorite of his. I think she might enjoy that one. I wish they had released the 3D version stateside, though.

In their 11th year of sponsorship...
This year introduces a new way of doing things ...YOU get to pick your prizes!
There are 126 titles offered from various labels that will be divided into 4 prize packs of 25 titles each.
Winners send their selections of the 25 they want to GoldenWheels via PM. He'll then pack and ship, and update the list, and then provide an updated copy of the list.
A HUGE thanks to HamiltonBook.com who has very graciously donated the following:

My rule of thumb, if Ghostbusters (1984) qualifies (and it should) then any of these should be fine. You should be able to find all of these on Prime or Vudu or Itunes, etc...

Making Contact by Roland Emmerich fits that bill I think. Frog Dreaming (aka The Quest) as well but it's not really a horror movie.
I watched Fortress (1985) tonight. I watched this as a kid and it freaked me out so much. Maybe because it was somewhat realistic. Ive had this on dvd for nearly a decade now still shrink wrapped but I just now put it in. I was thinking about it recently. It still holds up in my opinion.

I enjoyed Howl. It was a fun pairing with End of the Line when I caught it a few years back.
Last night I caught the Shudder Exclusive Z. I will credit it for not relying too heavily on cheap jump scares, but didn't really offer anything I haven't already seen umpteen times. Limbo was 55 minutes of what the hell that had me questioning my decision to purchase Blu-rays based solely on limited slipcovers. Why Don't You Just Die! was an entertaining Tarantino-esque Russian offering that's bit a slower-paced than the trailer implies, which was a good thing.

I’m going in for Verotika! Have not heard one positive thing about it so, if I don’t make it to the other side, I wish everyone well.

I'm actually enjoying Vampires Vs. The Bronx on Netflix. It's like The Lost Boys, Fright Night, and Vampire in Brooklyn had a baby. Obviously not on the level of a Fright Night or Lost Boys, but fun nonetheless.

I got in three movies yesterday, two first time views and all of them from the top 1,000 list. The winner for me was The Other (1972). Set in the 1930's (something that I always like) the story concerns twin brothers growing up on a farm in an extended family situation during a period when frequent tragedies were happening. The acting is good, especially the twins who do a great job, and the story grabbed me right away and had a few events that took me totally by surprise. The script doesn't overly explain things and lets the viewer make connections when necessary.
The other FTV was The Sentinel (1977) which I thought was a pretty strange film but that may have been partly because I was expecting a nice haunted house movie (from the category assigned in the top 1,000 list) but got much more than that. I enjoyed this but felt that a little more justification of the underlying idea would have been nice and that the two main characters (a model and her lawyer boyfriend) were seriously lacking in chemistry. Also there were some surprisingly sleazy parts (not a bad thing) in what seems to have been a mainstream movie.
The repeat viewing was Dust Devil: The Final Cut which I hadn't seen in many years. Filmed in Namibia, landscapes and the soundtrack are used to create an eerie atmosphere with a supernatural protagonist seemingly based on African folklore. Pretty good stuff.

Checked the list thread and I'm already blown away by the graphics and other creative ways folks are putting together their lists. Know your time and effort isn't wasted, since at the very least, I enjoy seeing them! I wish I had the time or talent to do something similar.
In movie reviews, I would like to recommend a horror comedy called Hellbenders (2012). It has the always welcome Clancy Brown who is awesome in everything he is in along with Clifton Collins Jr. who is another criminally underrated actor is elevates everything he is in as well. The movie is extremely irreverent so if you are a strong Catholic, you may be extremely offended by the portrayals of priests but I found it hilarious. I saw that is is based on a graphic novel by J.T. Petty who also directed the movie. Anyone ever read it? And by the way, it has excellent 3D if you have a 3D copy and have the capability.

So anyone can recommend anything good on Amazon, Hulu, Netflix to watch? The choices don't seem too great when searching "horror" so hoping someone can recommend some good ones.

Netflix is typically lacking on the horror, but I read an article that their October lineup is very strong with foreign titles this year. I’m going to look tonight. I would be interested in recommendations too.
