I e-mailed Magnolia about corrected Blu-rays but they never responded. I didn't see one in the stores yet.

for those tired of waiting on a correct blu-ray release: http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/movies...99&show=review

A quick note on the English subtitles: This Blu-ray disc contains the theatrical subtitles that were not included on initial U.S. release of Let the Right One In. When turned on, they appear inside the image frame.

Thanks for posting the link!!

If Dead Snow ends up being Region Free, I might order that and this on Blu-Ray.

I saw that. And it's region free. But it doesn't have lossless audio. :hairpull:

Well, it is somewhat disappointing to see that Momentum Pictures did not port the outstanding Swedish DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track found on the U.S. release of Let The Right One In. I personally thought that the Swedish DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 was outstanding, one of the best I’ve heard on recent foreign-language films. This being said, the Swedish DTS 5.1 track found on this Blu-ray disc is a bit underwhelming – the surround activity, for example, is not as nuanced as it is on the Swedish DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track. There are subtle audio effects that are much more prominent on the Swedish DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track. Of course, this is not to say that the Swedish DTS 5.1 track has some major deficiencies. Its basics are solid and I do not believe that many most of you would be terribly disappointed with it.

The English dub from the U.S. release has been replaced with a Swedish Dolby Digital 5.1 track on this disc. Again, dynamically, I find it rather underwhelming. The dialog is clear and easy to follow, but the switches between sound and silence are not as effective as they are on the Swedish DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track.

Is this definitely region free? I thought I saw in a few places that it wasn't...

Like http://bluray.liesinc.net/index.php?region=b, which says "Seems to contain 50hz material at some point to prevent playback on most region a machines"...whatever that means...

Let's gauge a reaction here regarding this equation:

Commentary + correct subtitles + not buying another Magnolia Blu-ray > lossless audio?

That's the Swedish edition. Blu-ray.com's review has confirmed the British version is region free:

http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/movies...99&show=review

So the Swedish one is problematic for region A players, the British one doesn't have lossless audio and most of us can't find an American one with the theatrical subtitles. What a pain.

I'd rather have the lossless audio than the commentary which, good as I'm sure it is, I'll probably never listen to.

So, waiting for a corrected Magnolia (ugh!) BD.

Thanks for the clarification, movielib! I too am curious at people's suggestions for which disc would be better...not sure the lossless audio will make much difference to me (there also seems to be one visual snafu for a split second on the UK disc, which probably isn't a big deal), although maybe in the end neither would the subtitle issue, although my gut says I would rather have the right subtitles. I'd also like to get the Dead Snow blu if its region free. It's out Aug. 31...so I'll keep my eyes open...

Well, you know there is a US version with the correct subtitles. On the back it says under Subtitles: "English (theatrical)" instead of just "English." The problem is that it's not showing up yet much in stores, partly because people don't want to buy the bad version, so they sit on the shelf and the store doesn't order more. And no one wants to buy it online because we're not sure which one we'll get. Magnolia didn't give the corrected version a new UPC code.

Magnolia has made a royal mess of this whole incident.

yeah, although has there been any confirmed new Blu sighting? I had my local B&N order one and crossed my fingers, but it was the old copy (I didn't have to buy it). Stupid Magnolia...

Not that I know of.

I thought you probably knew the present situation but because of what you said about the subtitles I thought it was possible you didn't. I didn't mean to demean your knowledge. ;)

I swear, either they're completely aloof to their potential fan base or they just don't give a shit (the indie distributor equivalent of LucasFilms). The issue's even become an integral part of the film's wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Let_the...lm)#Home_media

Director Tomas Alfredson also expressed his dissatisfaction with the DVD subtitles, calling it a "turkey translation". "If you look on the 'net, people are furious about how bad it is done", he added.

Checked my local Best Buy today specifically for this, a real run-in-run-out affair. Nothing doing.

Drove to 5 different stores hoping to find the corrected version as I really want to see it again (for the first time properly) and I'm tired of not having it in my collection.

Target- no copies anymore
Best Buy- 4 dvd, 3 blu, all old copies
Super wal mart- no copies
local chain store- 2 locations, one is now closed up and the other had 1 copy of the old version.

what a waste.

I bought this on DVD on the day of release and enjoyed it. I was dismayed to hear about the subtitle issues. I'd love to see it again with the corrected subtitles but don't want to buy the DVD again.

I've got Blu-Ray capabilities now, so if I ever found a corrected Blu-Ray version of this film, I'd buy it in a heartbeat to get the upgraded picture and subtitles.

My local Fry's just replenished their stock on the blu-ray yesterday (they were out of stock for more than a week), and none of the new copies had the fixed subtitles. I don't think they've even pressed new BD discs with the fixed subs.

Just a note for Canadians, I recorded this from The Movie Network HD last night, and it did have the original subtitles.

I picked up a corrected copy at a Best Buy in Deptford, NJ. There were two more new copies mixed in with some older ones. Maybe they have started to send out the new ones to stores now.
