Don't take this as fact or even rumor, just speculation, but I'd bet that really soon the corrected Blu-Rays should be showing up. Los Angeles was seeing the corrected DVDs immediately as they were reported to have been seen. Well, I look everytime I go into Best Buy, Frys or whereever and in the past few weeks, I've noticed all their stock of this title has sold and no replinishment has taken place. Could be a coincidence, but I'm guessing the new one will be coming.

OK, I've received and watched the UK Blu-ray release, and I can vouch for the fact that it has the theatrical subs and, obviously, is region-free. I gave part of the commentary a listen, and it sounds like a very involving track with the director and the writer of the screenplay (and the original novel LET ME IN). There are also 4 pretty good deleted scenes.

Picture quality is top-notch, and though I'd read that the sound was lossy, the film is rather quiet anyway, and I heard absolutely no problems. In fact, I found the sound to be dynamic.

Great stuff all around. But I'd still snip out that cat scene.

FYI: For those that bought the UK Blu-ray Disc, Momentum Pictures UK has acknowledged that there is an error with the DTS-HD MA track not being decoded correctly. They have corrected this issue and, unlike Magnolia/Magnet will replace the disc for consumers.

I thought the UK blu-ray didn't have a lossless track. Are you saying they are making discs with one now?

The UK release is advertised as having DTS-HD MA on the artwork but due to a mastereing error, only the DTS 1.5mbs core was being outputted.

In other words, the UK version is supposed to have a DTS-HD MA track and Momentum UK has fixed this and will swap faulty discs for corrected ones.

Yikes. Here's hoping this won't be a problem for US buyers, because that's actually pretty darn cool of Momentum.

Yes, that is cool, but if they don't replace discs to their US customers, then this may be another nightmare all over again by taking a crapshoot on an order and hoping it is the corrected copy.

Good update on the audio. I guess I should wait for Amazon.co.uk to get corrected discs before ordering?

Well, the Momentum UK Blu-ray dropped 4 pounds to 12.98, roughly ~$6.50.

Maybe the price drop to help clear out inventory of the discs with the defective audio track, which may or may not be able to be replaced in the US?

This may be old news, but I just picked up a copy with the corrected English "theatrical" subtitles at Target for $9.99.

My region 2 with slipcover is coming in the post. Yay!

How can Magnolia really brush the situation off. Anywhere you look on the internet there is an article screaming DON'T BUY THIS DVD. On Amazon all the reviews say not to buy the DVD. When other regions release the title they make a point to specifically say their release has the theatrical subtitles... etc.

Sorry if this has already been said but is the UK Blu Ray region free?

Yes, the UK Blu-Ray is region free.

I think your math is wrong there. £12.98 plus about £3 shipping ended up being $26.72 US. Of course it arrived today and now I see the price has dropped to £10.98.

Right. It dropped from 16.98 to 12.98 previously, which is a 4 pound difference or -- as XE is telling me currently -- $6.40 in USD.

You are still wrong. You are exchanging backwards. £10.98 GB is about $17.56 US. £12.98 is about $20.76

The price I quoted earlier was from my own actual order.

he's saying it's a difference of that amount. not the actual cost.

4.00 GBP = 6.40071 USD

Alright, let's go at it from this angle:

£16.98 = $27.17

£12.98 = $20.76

£16.98 - £12.98 = £4

$27.17 - 20.76 = $6.41

Therefore, the price drop was a difference of £4 or $6.40.

If that's what you meant, then you wrote it wrong or at least rather awkwardly. Read it again and you will see that it comes across as a translation of the final amount by its placement. Why would you have gone through the effort to convert the difference and leave it up to the reader to convert the total price himself?

 The price had already been discussed earlier in the thread by riotinmyskull.

But I apologize for whatever confusion occurred while I was discussing the price drop.

I picked up a corrected version of the DVD at WalMart for $13 tonight. I haven't been able to spot a corrected copy at Target for $10. I bet when I check tomorrow after class, there will be a corrected version on the shelf. :)
