Right. The Hollywood Movie Money certificate that is included with HNwJ will not work at AMC theaters. I've never understood why AMC doesn't accept the certificates, and I could never get a clear answer.

As a previous AMC manager, the answers were basically that it's a hassle, and the refund takes too long. The banks we use also might not like them very much. However, if you go to the right AMC (this is purely a YMMV thing), what they would do at my theater, just to be nice to the guests, would be to take the passes, and just throw them away and use a Re-Admit coupon, and let you in that way.

They showed footage from Jason X, where he froze the girls head and smashed it.

Basically, AMCs have a pass, called a GuestFirst pass (in the previous post I said Re-Admit, but I meant GF). If you're in the theater and you had a bad experience that is mainly a personal thing, like the movie was bad, or the temperature was high, or the popcorn didn't taste good, etc., we give you a GuestFirst pass, which allows you to see any movie at any AMC at any time for free. At my AMC, we considered taking Hollywood Movie Money a service to the guests, and thusly, we would take the ticket and just toss it, and in its place, ring up a GuestFirst pass so that you could still see the movie for free (likely in the hopes that you would buy popcorn and soda and candy and come back to our theater, because we let you in anyway).

That's right, they did. I don't recall any other scenes though or anything from JGTH or FvJ. I wonder why this is.

They show footage of JGTH as well, they show the one dude being pulled into that hole, both the actual film footage and the behind-the-scenes of him in the hole. There are also a few assorted bits of him walking around and things that I know are from that one.

I seem to remember at least one shot from FvJ, the one where he is about to strike Freddy but stops because there's water pouring down in front of him, but it might have been a photo -- there were definitely a couple stills from FvJ.

I haven't grabbed any of these but if a BD box set is coming then I'll just wait.

That was my plan all along... although I did break down and buy Part 1 on Blu because I figured the BD box set wouldn't be out for a while.

What the hell?? They knew all along they were gonna do this, it's not like they were just like ah what the hell lets release it! Oh, well, I'm not really all that upset. I just hope they all have special features and they aren't just BD versions of the 2004 box set.

Re: New "Friday the 13th" Box Set in the Works?

Bloody Disgusting has an interview with His Name Was Jason director Daniel Farrands today, who is also now working on the DVD's for 4 through 8, and had some interesting things to say:

http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/interview/539

BD: And I understand Paramount is going to release special editions of a few more of the films now?

Farrands: Yeah, after we finished His Name Was Jason, I was contacted by a guy who produces the special features for many of the Paramount DVDs, and he had been searching for a guy who really understands the franchise. And I think they had run into some issues on the reissues of Parts 1-3, and Paramount wanted to do new things, new material for 4-6, and consequently we'll be doing 7 and 8. They wanted somebody with a lot of knowledge to bring something new to the table. And after the things we didn't get on our show, it was a great opportunity for me to come in and work with the people who actually own this material and be able to give fans more of what they want. I can't promise that it will have everything that everybody has always wanted to see, but we're getting there. We're making progress. We've found some amazing things that nobody has ever taken the time to look for. My editor Andrew Kasch and I have just been scavenging the lowest dregs of the Paramount vaults to find the things that fans want to see. We've had limited success with some things, but we're working on it and believe me, there's so much passion behind it. We're doing our best to put something out that will hopefully make the fans more satisfied than they were with the previous versions that Paramount put out.

BD: Anything specific you can tell us that we might see?

Farrands: It's still being worked out, I can't say a lot. There will be some scenes, especially in part 4, that fans will be VERY interested in seeing. That's all I can say right now. But there are quite a few clips that have been recently uncovered thanks to our work. And it was a lot of work!

BD: And when will those be in stores?

Farrands: 4-6 will be coming out in June, I've been told. And 7 and 8 will come out after that, and I am hearing there will be a new boxed set before the end of the year, but I don't know if that is official yet.

BD: Will there be Blu-ray editions for any more of them?

Farrands: There's some talk, I don't know what they are specifically planning.
Sounds like they're putting more effort into the next round of releases.

Looks like I'll wait and just buy the box set then. WOuldn't be surprised to see it released in time for Halloween. Funny because I still have the From Crystal Lake to Manhattan Box set. I got it the day it came out and Still have not watched a single thing on any disk in that collection.

So why not take eCash, the movie passes which people can print from the internet and work just like a MasterCard? I would imagine, like with any credit card, you'd get your money right away.

I wouldn't dump that Box set. The bonus disc has that excellent documentary that covers the entire series.

Oh thank God Paramount are finally getting a clue. All they need is to lock a fan in their vaults for a few months....
as for part 4, I would guess they found the Mrs. Jarvis bath tub dream sequence. I don't know what else could be found from 4.

Uh, we did. If you went to an AMC and they didn't take eCash then that must be that particular manager's prerogative because I know my theater took those all the time.

Re: New "Friday the 13th" Box Set in the Works?

FYI:

Anyone who was considering this http://www.amazon.com/Jason-Slasher-...4495572&sr=1-6 should know that despite the 3 discs sticking out of the Amazon cover, this has four discs (FvJ is the 2-disc set) and it is slimpaks. So if anyone's looking to shrink down their Jason collection, this runs $20 both on Amazon and at Wal-Mart and includes a $5 moviecash ticket to the remake.

Great news from BD. I know Andrew Kasch and he really is putting a lot of effort into these releases. Can't wait to see what they've got lined up for part 4. Man, if any of these are uncut in any way I'll be incredibly stoked.
