I've been to a number of conventions with F13 cast members and Ari always has a big line. I never got an autograph from him, because honestly, I don't care who played Jason, really. But for most people who are into the series it's a big deal, and even if only for a few seconds, he was the first. I did get Kane Hodders autograph, because he has been in so many, and Richard Brooker because he had fantastic photos from part 3 to sign. I'm mostly interested in the "final girls". From those I've met Adrienne King and Betsy Palmer (1), Amy Steel (2), Dana Kimmell (3), Kimbely Beck (4), and Lar Park Lincoln (7). Kimberly was by far the nicest

Friday the 13th Part 3 has squat as far as special feaures besides the trailer and the 3-D version. What kind of "Deluxe Edition" is this? As far as the 3-D goes it doesn't look that bad on my Sony Rear Projection set.

Gizmo,You are very wrong about Ari.... I've met him & he's a really cool guy & he always has a huge line for autographs. Yeah he was barely in the first movie but that doesn't stop other people from doing the same & claiming the fame. Tony Moran (Halloween) & Warrington Gillette (F13th 2) were barely in their films but they both do conventions all the time.

The His Name Was Jason set and the new editions seem to be hot sellers. The Wal-mart I visited today had a few (if any) copies of all of 'em. Glad to have picked up the documentary with the chance to put the movie cash to use!

I'm wondering about sales also. I was at my Wal-Mart a little after 9am on Tuesday, and they already looked a little bit "sold out" compared to their other new releases, so I'm guessing they only got a few copies of each to begin with. Today they only had 1 part 1 DVD left (and 2 of the bluray). Highest ranked at Amazon is part 3 at #66. Considering this is the third time for these movies, and the remake isn't even out yet- I'd say they are doing very well.
Oh, and I've read the bit of zooming on the part 1 DVD is the way the Uncut Warner print looked on DVD to begin with, so maybe not a mistake...?

I'm not even a big Friday The 13th guy, but I'm planning on seeing the new one, so for essentially 46 cents, seems good to me.

I met him this past year when I met Adrienne King and Betsy Palmer, charged me $20 for an autograph! He's not a star! But he is a cool guy, I've been on the elevator with him a few times and he always starts up a conversation.

Yeah, but did you know that the makeup process took hours and that they shot the take several times? Oh, and originally it was going to be Cunninghams kid but...lol.

Re: New "Friday the 13th" Box Set in the Works?

Well I recieved my Friday the 13th DVD's today of the first two movies.
What's up with those funky 3-D boxcovers? I don't like them at all.
They even hurt my eyes just looking at them.
More and more DVD's are being released with these covers now.
I think i'm going to have to start throwing these covers away. I can't stand them.

Re: New "Friday the 13th" Box Set in the Works?

I watched His Name Was Jason. Pretty good, but not nearly as good as Halloween: 25 Years of Terror. I prefer H25YoT's narrated, film-by-film breakdown as opposed to HNWJ's "hosted", all-over-the-map approach.

Maybe I'm crazy, but the film clips from the series all looked pretty great in the documentary. Maybe the documentary received new HD film clips?

Re: New "Friday the 13th" Box Set in the Works?

The documentary was solid but it seemed forced to me like they had to keep it at 90 minutes for when it airs on TV (Starz) because with all the deleted material they left on the cutting room floor for the extras were really good (very important stuff) & would have made it more "whole" rather than rushed.

Re: New "Friday the 13th" Box Set in the Works?

I like that in the film clips they removed the music (probably just to be cheap) and you could hear things from the films you couldn't hear while the music was blasting (like Trish crying while Tommy attacks Jason). It's funny because people from the new film said they couldn't use Betsy Palmers voice for the trailer if they wanted to, because her voice and the music were mixed together, but here they play that scene with the music removed.
They jump around to different aspects of the films instead of going movie to movie because they were afraid it would just end up being the Crystal Lake Memories book come to life. I can understand that thinking, but I'm not sure it worked. I felt like they were running out of topics right away.
Felissa Rose specifically calls the part 2 double impalement on the bed "so original!" when it's the best known ripped off kill in all the F13 movies (from Bay of Blood).

I would have much rather seen more of Elizabeth Kaitan and less Felissa Rose.

Re: New "Friday the 13th" Box Set in the Works?

Hi, everyone. Maybe someone out there can clear up a couple of questions I have about the new releases this week.

1.) FRIDAY THE 13TH - I have the Region 2 U.K. import from a couple of years back that is also uncut. I can't seem to find any comparison reviews out there comparing the uncut R2 disc with the new R1 uncut disc. Is the picture quality the same? Is the new R1 disc even better looking? Does anyone on here have both and could maybe compare?

2.) FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 2 - I've heard reflicting reports from various reviews around the net. Is this a new transfer or not?

Thanks in advance!

I might say that it's probably a new transfer, since the films were prepped for BD in other regions. However, given how much Paramount loves the franchise (which is to say, not at all) I'd think perhaps not?
