So if anyone's looking to shrink down their Jason collection, this runs $20 both on Amazon and at Wal-Mart and includes a $5 moviecash ticket to the remake.
That's pretty lame pricing for that set. I saw this at Walmart, too, for $20 and thought it was ridiculous when most catalog titles nowadays are being sold for $5 at that same store. The list price even says $23.98. I would've expected no more than $15 on this set.

I dunno, I'd guess in most stores while you'd find Jason Goes to Hell and Jason X for $6, you'd probably still find Freddy vs. Jason running you $15 all by itself. Even if it only costs $10, that still makes the price exactly the same, and you get slimpaks.

$20 for those 3 films plus a $5 ticket to the remake is a damn good deal....
I bought all three when they first came out so that's a steal compared to that....

His Name Was Jason was only $10 and came with a $10 ticket. Much better deal to me.

Obviously it is & I wasn't comparing to that so why bring it up?
I was talking about for people who don't own those last films....

Best Buy has done numerous sales where the New Line Jason films have been $4.99 (that's how I've been able to snag all three). So not much of a deal to be honest.

I know, I'm not trying to be argumentative, I'm just saying that in light the recent 4 movie packs like Nightmare on Elm Street, Superman, Lethal Weapon, etc., the pricing on these three movies from New Line seems too high...even with a $5 ticket. If I didn't already have the three New Line Jason movies, and I wanted a free ticket to the new Friday movie, I'd rather purchase the His Name Was Jason set, and then find the other three Jason movies separately for a better deal.

Except HIS NAME WAS JASON is terrible. Whoops, so are the New Line Jason films.

Nevermind.

That's your opinion.

But I agree with it. The first part at least.

True, although those are fewer discs (2 flippers) and this is three kinda-special editions (including one 2-disc set that still technically retails for around $15).

The $9.96 His Name was Jason with the $10 movie coupon is only available at Walmart. Best Buy and other places have it for $14.99 with a $5 movie coupon.

Re: New "Friday the 13th" Box Set in the Works?

Alright so I splurged and picked up Part 1 and 2 at Walmart for $13 a piece. They did not have Part 3, so I drove less than a mile to Best Buy and picked up Part 3 for $14.99. So, Part 1 is Uncut because of 10 seconds of added blood?

I don't know in a way I feel like since these movies are 20+ years old, they shouldn't be more than $10 a piece tops.

DJ,

Yep, its about 10-12 seconds. If you've seen the film numerous times you will notice the differences right away. Its better then nothing, right?

Re: New "Friday the 13th" Box Set in the Works?

So I got the BDs of Friday the 13th Part II and III from the UK. They are in fat cases and have an annoying "FOR USE ONLY IN BLU-RAY DISC PLAYERS". Both films have TrueHD and both on BD50 discs.

Anyway, what everyone wants to know. Do the extras work? Yes. I went through each extra feature (including Trailers) on my Sony S550 playing on my Toshiba Regza and every single feature works fine.

Feel free to ask any questions. I'll be watching both tomorrow.

is Harry Manfredini interviewed on any extras, anywhere, in any of the new releases or "His Name Was..."?

and does anyone discuss where the idea of the hockey mask comes from in any of the new extras or in HNWJ?

Boy you certainly ask alot of questions. It seems like your trying to find a reason "not" to purchase these.

But, to answer your question about Manfredini, I've only watched 30 minutes of the His name was Jason doc and he's featured in one of the early segments talking about the score and the inspiration for it.

Sweet. I'm just curious as to how they look/sound vs the SD releases.

They discuss the fact that many people claim to have thought of the mask in HNWJ.

It's only $9.96 at Walmart with $10 in movie cash for Friday the 13th....
That's dirt cheap, if you are still considering that then you must not be interested....
If you have encore/starz His Name was Jason is being shown on there....

Re: New "Friday the 13th" Box Set in the Works?

I watched F13 Part III Blu-ray last night...and while it looked great in HD, it made some of the blemishes/spots/scratches way more apparent. The film is littered with smudges on the camera, grease marks, hair, scratches, and what I think is a water splash towards the end. I compared it to the new DVD version and the BD is using the same master (identical). While these marks were on the DVD they didn't stand out as bad as they do on the Blu-ray. Another thing I noticed is the numerous boom mics/cast and crew you could spot in anything that had a reflection.

Yea, I had heard III didn't look so hot. On one hand, I want to have these 2 on BD asap, but on the other I'd rather just wait for the eventual box set here in Region A. I think I'll probably wait, but I look forward to hearing about part II.
