Well since you asked:

In a collection of that size, there's plenty for everyone to like . . . or so you'd think until you actually start wading in. There's more value in the John Cassavetes box set than there is in that whole collection. If you reduced it to the best twenty-five titles, I might give it a B. As is, I give it an F.

Disclaimer: Of course all that is just my opinion, and you're entitled to your own opinion, and who do I think I am anyway, and what about me owning X, Y, and Z titles that suck ass, and yada, yada, yada, ad infinitum . . .

I've been following this thread, and I honestly can't believe it's still going. Receiving a "rating" on your DVD collection is getting someone else's opinion, and that opinion is based on how they personally feel about certain movies. In fact, just receiving movie recommendations is mostly pointless, because opinions and tastes vary. Does receiving an "F" on a collection by a movie snob like Yakuza devalue your collection somehow? It shouldn't. You like what you like, and you buy what you buy, because you simply do. You don't owe explanations to anyone, and you don't have to like, or even try, something just because someone who seems to know what they're talking about tells you you should. Your collection is a reflection of you, and you shouldn't change it or try to improve upon it to please other people.

Rate my collection? No, thank you. I don't give a rat's royal rectum what anyone thinks about my movies. Recommend a movie? Go right ahead. But I'll tell you right now that if there's nothing that's happened in my life, or if I haven't met the kind of person or people whose opinions I value enough, to make me appreciate a late-60's French impressionist art film directed by some revered cinema icon I've never even heard of...I probably won't even give it a chance. Sorry, but that's me. I'm an individual who knows what he likes and doesn't follow fads or trends or go with the crowd just to fit in...and I offer no apologies for any of that.

I adore bad Hollywood films, and harbor no illusions in regard to their crapitude. Sometimes I just want to watch stuff blow up. As far as pre-1960 titles go, I know I'm missing a lot, it is because of my tendency to wish-list a lot of that stuff but I generally end up buying new titles most of the time. I'm not particularly concerned about other people's ratings of my collection as I am about their point of view. I like to hear what other people think. Cheers for checking it out anyway.

Same here, I just wanted to see what people would think of my collection. That's why I started this, because seeing other people's reacations are amusing to me.

THFM, I would say 95% of your collection is crap but you have Pee-Wee's Big Adventure so what else is there doesn't really matter. Good job.

I like your collection about twice as much as THFM and Jedi Master 33's, so I'll give it a 2 out of 100: all Hollywood, all the time.

Alot of the movies in there i don't own or would never own. The ones that I have that you have are good but the ones you have that i dont arent my favorites. I would say its an average collection. The lack of old classics made before the 80's hurts your collection. You need to get some Hitchcock films in their.

If someone would be so kind as to rate my collection (sig link at bottom) I'd be rather appreciative.

If I were a twelve-year-old girl, I'd love your collection and give it an A+++ with hearts.

I'm just kidding. About the girl part, anyway. Some twelve-year-old boys might like it too. As is, I give it a 25 out of 100: some good anime, and a few good other titles, but plenty more bad than good.

Yours is another one of those collections that includes a few good titles, but they're like Log Cabin Republicans: you wouldn't recognize them by the company they keep. If you cut your collection down to the top 30 titles, I might give it a B, but as is, I give it an D-.

A little heavy on the anime, but if thats what you like because that is a majority of your collection. Some other good things mixed in their. I'd give it an average grade some good stuff, some crappy stuff. I'd probably give it a grade of 2.5 out of 5 or so.

Your collection is too big and life is too short to look through all those titles, but I have no doubt that your collection has something for everyone, and is the envy of many. If you've managed to see all those titles, then you've seen a lot of great films (and lots of garbage too of course). Bravo!

I'd give your collection a B based on what I did see.

Everyone he is commenting about asked for it. He is giving his honest opinion of what he thinks of the peolples collections that asked for it. We all are grown adults here for the most part and if someone takes offense to it, its their own fault for asking for his opinion. You aksed for it you have to be able to take what he says. Grow up.

I'd give your collection a A based on the quantity of movies you have. The collection would rate around a B you have alot of the same movies I have and have a lot I would like to own at some point in my life. Yours is better than most of the ones people in here have asked people to rate.

oh, believe me i don't take offense to it whatsoever that is why i specifically only asked him to rate it to see his response which was exactly as i expected.
