edit...went w/Tremors. I haven't seen any of the sequels, so more bang for the buck. $19 for 5 flicks, but had a little credit at Wherehouse.com so only $10. Thanks again for the recommendation and to Scott for his list.
Did you mean "Freaks" as the Tod Browning flick. His films hold a special place in my heart since he's from Louisville(and he's a great filmmaker), but if you are anything like me you'll get more replay value out of the Tremors pack.
With the sequels, I watch the 2nd one more than the first, and 3 is decent and 4 isn't very good but I watch from time to time.
I know I hate dvd buying dilemmas, right now i can't decide between to get Universal's Invisible Man collection or Vertigo and Rear Window.
And i looked at your collection again Dino, not that is was going to change too much between now and Feb, but you still have a great collection, still an A

I've never really searched for them specifically, instead I've either gotten them through the mail without knowing or picked them up at best buy if they were the same price as the regular case versions. It was pretty cool to get the Robocop steelbook in the mail...that case just fits that movie perfectly. I'm curious as the whether you are collecting the actual steelbooks or are just a fan of all those films.

I'd really like to get that Terminator S.1 steelbook. More so for just that cover.

I'm looking through your bigger list now....already found one I want "Dead & Buried"...would you recommend it? I know with my dvds, everything I own I would recommend outside a few (i.e. Me, Myself & Irene...I can't remember why I bought that...must have been really cheap).

It's funny looking through this list bc I can almost guarantee where and around when you bought some of them. IE, I just saw Squirm and I bet you bought that through Secondspin w/the HEYNOW code. Am I close?
Future Shop is Best Buy's sister company, right now only located in Canada. the SteelBook company Scanavo is located in Canada which is why i think they get the most SteelBooks and Best Buy USA gets sloppy seconds.

right now there seems to be a moratorium on all SteelBooks but i love the things as you can see. i get them for the movies first and then the case. i wouldn't get a SteelBook for a movie i am not interested in at all. for a complete list go to the thread in the Covers and Cases forum.

"Dead & Buried" as mentioned is a nice little horror flick.

don't know where i got Squirm but it was probably a B&M, never got anything from Secondspin.

I'm actually not a big fan of the Burton Batman films, I can sit through the first one and at times the 2nd one. With Superman I am happy with 1&2 though I may pick up 3 if I can ever find it cheap enough, and with Spidy i actually have all three films but i put Spiderman 3 in the blu-ray category. And I believe I have all three X-Men films as well. I cannot bring myself to buy Batman and Robin or Superman IV, but again thanx for the grade.

I really don't particularly for any of them, but if I had to pick a random collection to grade one has to go with some sort of criteria - not necessarily based on enjoyment. But if you have Dark Knight and Batman Begins in there somewhere I'll ...well, I'd be willing bump it up to an A- for a twenty spot

edit - found em. Half way there ....

But I assume since the Schumacher romper room BM versions are ignored you're not a big fan of those as well...

From your name and previous posts I honestly didn't need to even look at your collection but I did just to be fair, and its safe to say your grade would be DVD GOD.
How is "The Big Red One", I caught some of it on TV a few years ago but it was about an hour into it so i stopped watching it.

Seriously. It's a collection I would never want to contend with.

Just the same, if I may, I'd offer up Refn's Pusher trilogy for at least a Netflix rental. Pusher is one of the most realistic takes about the life of a mid-level drug dealer that I have seen; in this particular case, one who ends up fatally tied to debts above and beyond the circumstances of his control. Here's my silly little review on it (though there are spoilers): http://sixthpillarofpink.blogspot.co...ding-refn.html

Number two and three of the trilogy I have not seen yet.

Impressive, most impressive.

There are a lot of things I probably wouldn't own but you have just about everything I own or would want to own.

All in all I would say that that's the most respectable collection I have ever seen.

There are a few things missing though...

I said that there were some things missing and that there's a lot of stuff I don't care for. It is a good collection and there's no reason for me to kiss his ass.

Re: Rate My DVD Collection

Anyone want to take a look at my collection? I haven't asked in a while and have added some new things since last time. Keep in mind that I DO have some blind buys in there but actually the majority of my "to-watch" films/TV shows are things I have seen before but haven't watched/finished watching on DVD yet.

Good collection, its more diverse than mine so i can't judge you there. I've never understood the love for "Friends" but that's a matter of opinion. The one suggestion I have if you are really into animation(which clearly you are) and you enjoy the Teen Titans you may try Ben 10. My kids got me into it, it has that kid feel at times like Titans, but it doesn't get as dark as Titans did in its five seasons but still is really entertaining(I think the newer Ben 10 series is closer to Titans in atmosphere than the original series but i haven't watched any of it yet).

Sorry guys ..drinking, being stupid and posting is a bad idea.

But the point of my post remains. With a little creativity I'm sure something could be found for NoirFan's collection even as imposing as it seems to be ...

The last time I offered mine up I was told I have too much junk. I have sold a lot and bought a lot, but the same is probably still true.

Thanks for the feedback! And yes, I am a big fan of Friends. What can I say? Anyway, I've been interested in seeing Ben 10. I will definitely give it a shot now and pick up Season One sometime.

I am very proud of my collection and I appreciate hearing that you think it's diverse... there is at least one area where I wish it was much greater: classic films. I own so few, yet there are plenty that I love. I'm going to try and build this over the next year via Columbia House. We'll see how that goes.

I own Wild Strawberries, and have Grey Gardens and The Straight Story on my wishlist. I enjoyed The Sting, but it's not something I necessarily want to own. I may rent Frailty again, it's been a while since I've seen it. Death and the Maiden is one I've always been interested in - added it to my Netflix queue. Thanks for the suggestions.

[QUOTE=Silverscreenvid;8294927]

I don't buy movies because they are popular or critically acclaimed or because they're the sort of DVD the people I hang out with probably have or because I think it might impress other people if they saw it in my house or if I showed them a list having that particular title.

{/QUOTE]

(raises hand): I fall into the category of trying to impress others with my DVD collection. I think partly I try to do that b/c I have yet to graduate college and get a job where I can impress people with my broadcasting/tv production skills. I can relate to people who show off their collections.... John Waters is always inviting reporters to his house and showing them the various collections of things he has.

Your Steelbook's are just awesome.

Your collection I'd say is an A. Glad to see somebody else who owns the brilliant "Plaga Zombie: Mutant Zone", If I was going to recommend something I'd say check out Baby Blues. It's a very good small horror film about a mother who believes god wants her to kill her children. Tough to watch (that is, if you don't like seeing kids in danger)..

also, where did you get the "Once More, With Feeling" disc? Been meaning to pick that up.

Great 70's and 80's comedy and horror collection, nice in the Woody Allen and Hitchcock flicks. Nice foreign horror selection. Plus, any collection with Re-Animator is an A in my book. Only suggestion since you seem to like Stuart Gordon, if you haven't see King of Ants, you might give that a try.

A stong A
