That looks pretty nice. Sucks that the bilingual text is starting to show up on steelbooks now though. I hope the spine is English only at least. The cover artwork sure is a lot better than the regular 2-disc set so even though the steelbook format won't match the format of the first 2 movies' releases, I'll probably end up getting this over the regular 2-disc edition.

Gee, uh, thanks for the link?...to a post that's simply further up the page.... Would never have seen those otherwise.

edit: wait, that's your post! I'm now confused.

SO the Hong Kong region 3 release doesn't have English subtitles? That's unusual.

Yes, it does. I own it. Got it four days ago.

It may have been mentioned, but does the BR box set come with Spider-Man 2.1 or just the regular one?

I think I want to pass on this, because the movie just wasn't upto par with the 1st two. But I have a bad feeling I'll pass it by and won't be able to resist.

I heard other regions have a different Steelbook version, but the one pictured above is available only at Future Shop. However, I believe they have international shipping.

I want that steelbook badly, but I don't think they allow for international shipping. I want to be wrong though, that's for sure.

Who else has a steelbook? After all the Transformers releases today, this release is looking pretty skimpy.

Dvdtalk review is up, haven't seen it yet, so this will probably be a blind buy for me.

For those who care about such things (raises own hand), Wal-Mart will apparently have a bonus exclusive DVD (with the single disc release only, it looks like...ugh). It appears to only have featurettes related to the comic book, though, rather than the movie(s), so I'll pass unless someone confirms there is movie-related footage on it.

this is a picture of the 3 TWEC Exclusive packages for this release, pricing at about $30 I'm told.

If it's as good as the X-Men Comic Retrospective with X-Men 3, I'm there.

Fair enough; I'm just interested in comic book movies, personally, not the original source inspirations.

Hmm, I'm on the fence with these...do you know if they'll be paired with the single-disc or two-disc release?

I'm the opposite. I LOVE documentaries on comics and their origins. The X-Men 3 bonus disc was great! I hope the Spidey 3 one is just as good and not fluff.

Individually with the DVD, not sure which DVD the single or two disc.

So sadly to get all three figures, you would have to buy the DVD three times.

Wal-Mart's also going to have a comic:

BENDIS, BAGLEY TOGETHER AGAIN ON SPIDER-MAN DVD COMIC

If you, like thousands of other comics fans, are planning on picking up the DVD of Spider-Man 3 when it hits the street on October 29th, but weren’t quite sure where you were going to get it, Brian Bendis has some news that might help you decide.

“A few months ago, Sony hired me and Mark Bagley to do a one-shot comic of all new material that will be in the Spider-Man 3 DVD as a Wal-Mart Exclusive,” Bendis told Newsarama. “It fills in all of the bits about Venom that you didn’t get to see in the movie in a dot-connecting kind of way.”

According to Bendis, while Sony may have approached them, he already had an idea once they told him what they were looking for. “Sony suggested the angle of finding material that ‘happened’ in the movie, but didn’t make it to the screen,” Bendis said. “I had some ideas already of ways to pull things together from the film – like how Venom found Sandman, for instance. I had some ideas in my head, and I was thrilled to put them on paper. It got approved pretty quickly with no bumps in the road or anything – and hey – I’m working with Mark again, so there’s nothing wrong with that at all.”

And speaking of his collaborator, Bendis said that he did have a pang of guilt in writing the project which heavily includes Venom. “Mark can’t avoid the symbiotes anymore, I think,” Bendis said with a laugh. “They’re everywhere he goes – Ultimate Spider-Man had symbiotes just before he left, and then he’s on to Mighty Avengers, with more symbiotes, and this, which went like "Hey Mark want to do this Spider-Man DVD comic?”

“Sure! What’s in it?”

“Venom.”

“Symbiotes. Great. Goddamn symbiotes.”

The comic, written by Bendis, with pencils by Bagley, inks by Scott Hanna and edited by Nicole Boose is an extra included in copies of the DVD that will be sold at Wal-Mart.

This is going to sound bloody stupid, but if you want to get those, where do you go? I am really going to have to have those babies but I have never puchased anything from TWEC before.

The comic looks good too. I'm in for everything.

TWEC is the chain of stores that includes Suncoast, Sam Goody, Wherehouse and f.y.e.
