It was originally suppose to be out 4/10, but apparently Paramount is really rushing this one to the stores...

Has their been any word so far on extras? I know I shouldn't kept my hopes up for extras to match the amazing assortment on the season 1 release, but it would be nice to have some featurettes/commentaries/etc...

The extras actually look pretty nice! (Better than I expected anyway.)

Each episode has the Log Lady intros and each disc will have one all new "in-depth interview".

Someone in that link is saying there's something called "the Complete Mystery" which has a 10/2007 release date.

Those are better than I was expecting - I was thinking along the lines of like 3/4 5-minute interview clips from the early 90s would be all we'd get - if we were lucky

I don't think I can wait for the rumored Complete Mystery set. It's just been too much of a build up. I'll buy the second season, and then spring for the complete set, if it happens, when it ships. Twin Peaks is that good.

Honestly at this point I Have the Pilot on VHS and season 1 from Artisan (as well as the feature which I doubt would be in 'the complete mystery' anyway), I'll be happy just with season 2 on dvd... Now if the complete mystery comes with like crazy extra-bonus stuff though Ima going to be really mad!

I'm with Ethan VanSciver - if/when the "Complete Mystery" set emerges I'll gladly double-dip provided it includes a remastered version of the pilot and/or some cool new extras. Twin Peaks is one of the very few shows I don't mind wasting money on like that. Besides, I can always give my other sets and Hong Kong Pilot DVD to my Dad.

On a separate note, Paramount could earn some serious cool points by making a remastered version of the Broadcast Pilot available separately. That would be nice for all the folks who want to upgrade their Hong Kong imports or who missed out altogether.

No, the Asian release of the pilot episode (I believe it actually originates from Taiwan) is the original broadcast version. This was released well before the UK DVD set, and is the only way to buy that episode separately. It's Region 0 NTSC, so it's been the best option for Americans to own the episode.

Just to add one more sentence of clarification for the initial poster, the US release of the first season didn't have the pilot, that's why it's the best options for Americans to own the pilot.

Yeah for Region 1 people right now your options for getting the pilot episode are:

a) Buy a region free player that does PAL-to-NTSC conversion and pay a lot to import the European set of S1.
b) Pay $20-30 for the OOP-but-still-pretty-easy-to-find Region 0 NTSC Asian import DVD.
c) Buy the old laserdisc set of S1 on eBay for way too much money and have the pilot transfered to DVD-R.
d) Buy the old VHS copy that Warner released compete with the tacked-on false ending that ruins the whole show.

Hopefully Paramount will give us another option by eventually releasing the pilot individually (if indeed they really hold the rights to it). But considering that they haven't said anything to indicate that possibly - and considering their lackluster history with DVD releases in general - I wouldn't hold my breath.

Yeah - after taking how long to friggin' release it? A week early is now considered "rushing"?

Note that the laserdisc release of the pilot contains only the "European" version of the episode, with the tacked-on extended ending that contradicts the rest of the series.

Has there been any more news regarding the "Complete Mystery"? If this is Paramount's plan, I'd rather hold out and wait for the whole enchilada. Of course, seeing S2 on the shelf in April will be VERY difficult to resist, but I'm sure they're banking on that.

If you didn't want to wait for the whole series to be released, you could always get this: http://www.pokerindustries.com/poker...WINPEAKSBX-DVD

It's the whole series including the pilot on 8 discs with options to turn of the spanish subs. I've owned it for over a year now. It's a decent set, but the video quality is somewhat lacking; although it's comparable quality to the Asian R0 pilot disc. It's also OOP.

"Video quality is somewhat lacking" is the understatement of the Millennium. The Spanish set is reviled for its poor picture quality.

Got a question regarding the pilot. From what I know, there are 2 versions, the european version which has an extended sequence which shows who the killer is, and the other is the regular version without that ending. Is there any way to know which version paramount releases when the big set comes out. (my local hollywood video has both seasons on vhs and I am tempted on just renting them and putting them on dvd, cause I can't stand waiting this long to get into the show and see what the big deal is

You can tell by the running time. The Extended Version of the pilot runs about 105 minutes (give or take) whereas the aired version runs a little over 92 minutes.

I picked up S1 today for $20 and I was looking for a review but didnt find nothing. This was a blind buy for me so I hope I enjoy it but I was wondering, is the story completley told, or are you left hanging at the end? I just want to be satisfied cause if I like S1, I'll get S2.

Oh, you'll be left super hanging all right (major season fianle cliff hanger at the end). To my wife this was a blind experience for her too, as she only first saw it when we got married and picked up my DVD set. She almost watched the whole thing in one sitting, and has been wanting to see Season 2 since! Lucky for you you won't have to wait three years to see Seaon 2, like she has been. BTW, you got a great deal on it!

Also, let's keep one another up-dated as to the complete mystery edition, as a poster a few messages back asked for news. I'm curious as to more info, too. I'd like it not only to contain the same Season 1 with all the extras but the pilot with the extra European scenes as separate bonus scenes. Of course, it also needs to be all remastered under Lynch's supervision. That's my ideal complete mystery set.

To reiterate for those new to the show, the correct chonology is as follows:

- Pilot episode: 2 hr premiere minus commercials comes to 92 min. Previous home video editions on VHS and laserdisc tacked on a new ending to wrap everything up that contradicts later episodes. Broadcast version is preferred.

- Season 1: 7 further episodes. Ends on a cliffhanger. The main mystery is not resolved in this season.

- Season 2: 22 new episodes. The season premiere was a 2 hr ep. The main mystery is resolved mid-season, with additional storylines opened up to fill out the remainder of the show.

- Fire Walk With Me: Prequel movie takes place before the events of the show but must not be watched until you've seen the entire series. The movie assumes you've already seen the show and contains major plot spoilers for the series.

This is the only correct order in which to watch the show.
