Twin Peaks Series Two???

Rather than cursing joliom's poor judgment, let's curse Paramount for what appears to be a failure to at least match the quality of the Artisan release of several years ago. It's not as though they didn't have an excellent model to follow, one that was praised by all Twin Peaks fans.

The thing that burns me most is that I almost always wait to sell off my old copies until after the new ones actually drop. Then the bottom falls out of the old one and I kick myself for not selling it 2 months earlier when the announcement was made and I could have gotten a lot more for it. Now when I actually do get ahead of the curve, I screw myself double. Figures.
If Paramount actually releases a new S1 set in a reasonable timeframe, it will at least hopefully bring the price of the Artisan set back out of the stratosphere. So even if theirs isn't as good as the Artisan set, its very presence in the marketplace will hopefully bring the prices down a bit. I just don't want to sit around waiting 2 years for a Paramount set that never comes, resign myself to re-buying the Artisan set for 250% more than I sold it for, and then have Paramount release something better. Somehow that's the scenario I see unfolding.

I'm more curious about the price and what kind of packaging it will be in. (Will they be going for a more-or-less standard $60 MSRP, or will they hit Twin Peaks fans with a $150 price point like we were Trekkies? And will it be in a decent box, or one of those wretched plastic tray "books" bound with tape?)
I'm not bitching... just hoping Paramount does this right.

I can't believe there's still no announcement of a release of "Twin Peaks: The Complete Collection", as was announced in June in Australia:

Wow, I can't believe this is #1 on Amazon for a few straight days.
Maybe this'll get Paramount off their asses when it comes to announcing either a re-release of Season 1 with the pilot or a Complete Collection.

Don't get me wrong: I'm absolutely thrilled that Season 2 is finally out. But if any set begged of a Complete Series, it would be this one. Hell, even a release of the pilot would be a nice place to start.

Digital Bits has posted under their Rumor Mill section that Paramount might be releasing a complete series box set which will include the pilot later in 2007. If that's the case, I might wait for this boxset and skip the second season set.

We've got a bit of an update for you today on CBS/Paramount's plans for David Lynch's Twin Peaks TV series on DVD in 2007. As most of you should know by now, the long-awaited Twin Peaks: The Second Season is already set to hit DVD on 4/10. Our sources are telling us that this release is designed for those who may already have Season One (released back in 2001 by Artisan/Republic) and the unaired pilot episode (released on DVD in Japan and available only as an import) on disc. However, for those of you who are patient and want it all in one shot... we're told to expect CBS/Paramount to announce a Twin Peaks: The Complete Series box set for release later in 2007 that contains both seasons AND the pilot episode, PLUS lots of newly-produced extras. Watch for details on the box set to be announced in the next few months.
Stay tuned...

I never watched this show back in its day, but I think I'll love it.
I have the first season set, but have never seen the pilot, and insist on starting there.
Maybe I'll sell my season one set and just be patient for a complete set someday.
If it never happens, I'll live, I have 47 years worth of unwatched DVDs to keep me busy....
