Insomnia (Criterion Swedish original release)
Unbreakable (love it or hate it, Shyamalan delivers another signature twist ending with an interesting take on extremes.)

I'm going out on a limb and throwing in a couple of random titles for you to check out .. All About Lily Chou Chou just for kicks. The new region 1 Hive release transfer isn't the greatest, but neither are any other region releases. It's still worth it. Based on your tastes, I think you might dig Lily. Also, one last more obscure film: Picnic at Hanging Rock: Criterion.
Thanks for the suggestions, visitor Q. I agree, Romeo Must Die is pretty awful. I didn't expect it to be great but I didn't know it would suck that hard. As for Speed, it's a guilty pleasure. I don't know why I dig it, but every once in a while I just do.

I've never heard of either Musa: the Warrior, or All About Lily Chou Chou so I'm going to go check them out right now, actually. Hopefully Netflix has 'em. As for the Swedish Insomnia, I've seen it and like it very much. I have a slight, slight preference for the US version, and I love Nolan's commentary, but if I ever see the original in a used bin I'll probably pick it up. I saw Unbreakable and was meh on it, but I'm not anti-Shyamalan - I actually liked The Village better than most people seemed to even though I spotted the twist nearly from the get-go. Picnic at Hanging Rock! I saw that so long ago I've forgotten nearly everything about it except that i liked it. I do need to check that out again.

And viking99, You're welcome!

Best
The Incredibles

The Good, The Bad and the Ugly SE

Freaks and Geeks Yearbook Edition - The Best DVD package so far, bar none. This is how a DVD set should be done.

Worst
Black Sheep - I love Tommy Boy but for some reason I didn't care for this movie.

Bully

Starsky and Hutch

Need
Looney Tunes Volume 2 - You have the first volume, come on, you need to get Volume 2.

More Pixar movies - Unfortunately Toy Story 1 + 2 are out of print but I suggest Monster Inc., Finding Nemo and A Bug's Life.

Kagemusha - I saw your Kurosawa DVDs and I'm pretty sure you'll love this movie too.

I've got LT V2 on my wishlist over at DDD in anticipation of their summer sale. Kagemusha is on there, too. Surprisingly enough, I've never been big on Pixar movies.

Best 3
Wrong Men & Notorious Women: Five Hitchcock Thrillers 1935-1946 - The Criterion Collection - A wonderful collection featuring the best editions of some of Hitchcock's best!

Warner Brothers Gangster Collection - A great, great set

Silence of the Lambs: CC - the best jodie foster commentary track!

Worst 3
Heart of Dragon - ugh! It is one of the few "hong kong" films I have seen when my roommate decided that was going to be his forte and I thought this one was terrible.

Sky Captain - I understand some people like this film. They are wrong.

Army of Darkness - UPGRADE already! There are only about 800 better editions than this one.

Most needed:
Buffy: Season 2 - Bridge the gap as someone else mentioned

Kung Fu: the series - Based on my limited knowledge of honk kong films vs. this series I think you might enjoy it.

Shogun - Trust me.

Folks checking out mine: I just started purchasing foreign films and would appreciate suggestions primarily focused on that and my ever expanding TV-onDVD section.

Best 3:
The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers: Extended Edition - My favorite of the trilogy.
Donnie Darko (non-DC) - Cult movie, much, much better than the director's cut (Mr. Kelly - what were you thinking?)
Back to the Future: The Complete Trilogy - Classic trilogy only gets better with time...(pun partially intended)

Worst 3:
Queen of the Damned - Sorry vampire movies aren't my thing...especially mediocre vampire movies.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Sets - Never was a fun of Buffy...
Tru Calling: The Complete 1st Season - I thought this would've been cancelled after a few episodes, instead, I hear it's getting a 2nd season!?! Oh Fox, the crazy things you do!

Most Needed 3:
(You said you were focusing on TV and foreign movies, so here ya go...)
Nip/Tuck: The Complete 1st Season - Best show on TV.
City of God - Amazing movie all around.
Amelie - Again, great movie - inspiring, uplifting.

Cameron,

Nice and big collection but also a well represented one. Lots of nice boxsets (including the Wong Kar Wai boxset which I don't have).

Best

Edison: The Invention of the Movies
The Bad and the Beautiful
The Peters Sellers Collection

Worst

The Avengers
Dogma
Short Circuit 2

Needs

Les Diaboliques (1955) Anyone that has as much Hitchcock as you, should have the film Hitch screened over and over again.

The Party Since you like Peter Sellers this is a fun and influential film (birdy num nums) centered around his talents.

High Noon A classic film, not just a western. (although anyone with Django in his collection can't be all bad).

btw, what happened to the Bond films? As you have Bond Girls are Forever (which was a freebie that came when you purchased Bond films) I wondered whether these titles just haven't been catalogued for some reason. I also wondered if Aliens was AWOL but maybe you just didn't get into that stuff.

Note: My collection has been done a couple times already. So if someone would just like to post a link to their collection, they are welcome to take my spot.

woohoo, I'll take the free spot!

Edited to explain some of the titles mentioed below:

-While I enjoy the movie, Wayne's World was a gift and I probably would not have bought it myself.

-At some point I might pick up the trilogy, but I only have Episode 1 due to a price mistake from Buy.com (hard to pass up $2.29)

Jmoneta, you have some great movies but I ignored the classics just because they are obvious.

Best:
Boondock Saints, The - Needs more recognition.
From Dusk Till Dawn - One of my favorites
Big Trouble in Little China - Under appreciated

Worst:
Aqua Teen Hunger Force - I don't get Aqua Teen at all.
Bend It Like Beckham - What's that's about
Wayne's World - I know people think this movie is great but I just hate it.

Needed:
Evil Dead 1 - Can't forget the beginnings
Reservoir Dogs - You must have seen this
Star Wars Trilogy - Episode I but not the Trilogy?

My Collection

Toy Story: Ultimate Set
Seven Very good film, excellent DVD set
The recalled version of Devil's Advocate. Nice find...

W

The Cell Lopez can't even make this one a treat .. interesting plot developement though.
Meet the Parents Personal preference .. I can't stand Stiller - here's a good summation why: http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse....in_every_movie
Pearl Harbor No one beats Bay's pyrotechnics displays, but this really is a shame to anything, Pearl Harbor .. even though I do own it

N

What are you waiting for ...??!!! ..round out your Pixar collection with The Incredibles.
You could use some foreign films in your collection ..and a good starter geared towards your taste would be Ringu, or even Tale of Two Sisters (region 1 release is now out).
Blade Runner for a little classic sci-fi for ya ..

Thanks for the compliment, I'm very proud. I picked the single films of the bond series that I wanted, but have since passed them off (something I rarely do) for the hope that the remasters will surface later this year. It isn't a big deal for me to buy the same title more than once, but that is a ton of titles.

The Alien Box Quadrilogy is on my wish list, and honestly is my #1 want...however. This is an ongoing joke with my wife. I have asked for it on every gift giving occasion since it's release. Xmas twice, valentines day twice, birthdays, and so on and so on. She torments me with it, and I am still on the hold out for her to get it for me.

btw, you hit my needs list on the nose...all three are high on the want list, I keep hoping for that High Noon SE to no avail...

Great collection! I can't speak for some of the genres you have, but here's some ideas:

Best:
Master and Commander CE: This is what makes a great dvd, great special features with substance and a great movie to boot.

Terminator 2 UE: I still prefer this to the Extreme Edition, and the supplements still hold up to any special edition being cranked out today.

Any of your Criterions: Nice collection, a lot of foriegn stuff I'm not familiar with, but very nice.

Worst:

Freejack: Jagger actually makes Estevez look like Sir Anthony Hopkins (excluding his performance in this movie of course).

Wild Wild West: I know Robert Conrad, and Will Smith is no Robert Conrad.

Minority Report: I know this is appreciated by many, but I don't think it's the best effort of Spielberg or Cruise. And the ending...

Need:

Night of the Living Dead ME: Correct me if I missed it, you seem to be a zombie lover. Where's the original classic?

The Great Escape SE: An essential for anyone who has any WWII film in their collection.

Once Upon a Time in the West: Seems to fit in with your style. And it can be had for under $10!

Bonus need: Jackie Brown:CE: polarizing Tarantino film for many. I happen to think it's his best.

A lot of good points --- I'm honored to have one of the more well-versed memebers scrutinize my collection. It is probably baffling to see such a mix of acclaimed older movies sitting next to non-acclaimed new movies (for example, I'm Gonna Git You Sucka being two over from In The Mood For Love). I'm a strict believer in that a good-good movie can be as enjoyable as a good-bad movie, even if the good-bad movie is a commercial success (say, Bad Boys II).

I will thus defend my "worst" purchases.

Army of Darkness -- I bought this very very early on (within a few weeks of its release), so it does need an upgrade. I will be searching for the Boomstick edition.

Day After Tomorrow -- I enjoyed it superficially in the theatre, saw it for $10, couldn't resist. SFX is my weakness.

Good Burger -- Free from Border's. I think it was something like buy one kids movie, get another free. Somehow, Spirited Away was also considered a kid's movie and there was nothing else I intended to buy.

The OT Star Wars trilogy I actually own. I spent about a year where I didn't put stuff into dvdaf. As a result, some titles still escape my occasional auditing.

As far as editing the titles, check the box next to the title, then go to My Collection --> Edit My Titles. It won't load a lot at once, so click like 20 of them at a time.

jgiv...thanks for the reply...just here to defend and explain what i can....Benny and Joon is a fun little movie, and Depp plays a good buster keaton...from justin to kelly was a free copy to review, and these days I hardly ever sell, trade, or give away anything unless a double dip is in order...keep if for the library. The dance grooves dvd goes to my wife who was looking for something to keep her moving while pregnant with our daughter...i am suprised no one has ever called out that my first title is an 08 minute fitness disc...but whatever.

you hit the needs list pretty well. Karate Kid has been on the list, but I have passed so far...might just buy the single SE release soon....nah, probably get the box...i always do. I owned MST3K but parted ways with it when the ebay prices were topping out over 250 bucks....never thought i would have to wait this long to have it back....thats why i never sell off titles anymore. Big Top Pee Wee will get a puchase down the road....but need it to hit the cheap bins. I also need to get the tv show.

for Bus.... Thanks for the kind words. I agree with you on good/bad movies point. I don't need to an art film, foreign every watch. Lots to be learned from B movies, and big budget popcorn flicks...though i do tend to retreat from them recently. I like this thread, it keeps people looking, talking, thinking, educating, and learning...and thats a great thing.

TylerDurden 73 is up...

Special Mention: Dragon's Lair 20th SE - love the animation from the video game!

The Best of the Bachelor

Only Aliens SE?? Highly recommend Alien Quadrilogy
To add to your mighty animation collection: The Castle of Cagliostro (Miyazaki)
You have Better Off Dead, why not add One Crazy Summer - has a funny commentary too!

Best:
Monty Pyhon Complete Collection: Now this is a true fan!

Rocky 4: You've got 1-3 so 4 should be allowed in.
The Killer/Hard Boiled: For a man that loves action, these are a must.
Last Dragon: Very Funny and would go great next to Booty Call: The bootiest edition.
