I just called as well. The nice lady who answered did ask me which version I had WS or FS. So I'm all set. Thanks for the info!

Just called. My conversation went like this:

"Fox Customer Service, may I help you?"

"Yes, I purchased the Star Wars DVD set last week, and..."

"Are you calling for the replacement disc?"

"Yes."

"Right now, we're taking peoples' names and addresses."

[Exchange of address information...]

"And was that the widescreen version?"

"Yes."

"Thank you. As soon as the discs are available, we will send you a replacement. Have a nice day."

Here's hoping...

The problem is only with the widescreen versions and, once again, fox has NOTHING to do with technical changes such as green lightsabers, swapped surrounds, or lower musical cues.

Fox is just dealing with discs that won't play correctly, particularly around the layer change or chapters 26/27.

they'll probably send info on how to send in the discs. no way are they going to send out free replacements simply by ppl asking. which is fine, anything to get them corrected.

That is my feeling. Someone at Fox is going to catch on. Right now they are doing this for quick damage control. I'm sure everyone will wind up getting a mailer to send in their disc.

Or I could be wrong... and the people at Fox are idiots... again*

Well that sucks.....I'm from Canada and the 888 number can't be reached from here. Is there any indication a Canadian phone # will be available? Is this an American offer only? If so, this seems a bit unfair. I would assume that FOX would do the same for anyone in North America, since the discs are all the same.

I tried today, but even though I expected not to get a live person, I expected to get a "call monday to friday" message. Oh well, maybe I'll try again tommorow. It did say when I called that this phone number could be reached from where I was calling (Prince Edward Island).

So do I need to call back and specify 'widescreen' or not? There are some conflicting messages on this board. Some are saying that Fox said it was ONLY the widescreen version that had the problem, and others are saying that Fox is possibly going to call back and ask which version it was?

They told me this is WS DVD only.

If I remember correctly, the CLEOPATRA DVD had an error and all I had to do was call for a replacement disc. I have the busted one and the new one still...never asked for the old one back.

Of course, Cleopatra is not as large a seller as ANH....

And there is less of a fraud issue with that case. Cleopatra was split across 2 discs. There would be little reason for someone to go out of their way to obtain that replacement disc, unless they actually had the problem.

Well, I just tried calling them again and got the recording again. It says they're open until 5PM PST. It's 4:26PM PST and they don't appear to be open.

Is anyone else getting the recording when you call during regular hours? Do they call you back? This is the second time I've left a message and I have yet to hear from them.

FOX just called my house and spoke to my wife. I had already told them widescreen when I talked to them. They asked for the make and model of the DVD player. Anyone else get this call yet? Funny thing is my wife had to tell them "I have no clue, I'll have to have my husband call you back."

They're probably still troubleshooting the problems then. Which means people won't be getting replacement discs for quite some time...

I had this question, about the model DVD player I had when I called in today for the replacement, so they must be collecting this information from everyone now.

I just gave them the make & model of my main player, I didn't feel like going through the list of 5 players that I have tried it on in my house
