Fox issuing replacement discs for ANH!

Yep, they don't confirm anything. I was hoping to just buy ANH without getting the whole trilogy, and instead I get the disk for free! This should be in bargains!

No kidding, The more I think about this, I think they have to change it to where they send out a pre-paid envelope for an exchange like all the other recalls. When word of this gets out, Fox is going to be giving away a lot of free discs to people who never bought them in the first place, or to people like me who just wanted a free second one even though my original is perfect.

So... is it that you don't think this is dishonest thing to do, or is it that you just don't care?

It's that I don't care.
Fox already got my money for the set, and 56 other titles of theirs I have purchased, so I don't feel the least bit bad about it either.

Funny Story:
I call the Fox hotline and get put on hold...so their music is playing, but it's skipping every two seconds - two seconds of music, two seconds of silence. And I'm thinking, now I know why the audio on A New Hope is screwed up!

Hmmm... They didn't even ask if I wanted Widescreen or Fullscreen.
I asked her about it and she just said they are passing the names and addresses on to their supervisors.
I guess we'll wait and see what comes of this.

I called yesterday and also realized that they didn't ask which format. I just called back and they said that they will be calling everyone back to see which format they want. The operator looked up my name and it wasn't in their files so I gave my info again with the request for wide screen. I suggest all of you call back.

Just placed my order with no problems. They only asked for my name, address, phone and WS or FS version of the DVD (I asked for WS).
The DVD skipped on me the 1st time I played them, but after cleaning the DVDs the skipping went away. So, I palyed them one more time to see if I needed to order another DVD. This time they did skip (Not at the layer change, it was a sceen in the Death Star).
I'm glad that they are replacing the DVD, but it does amaze me that they do not test every BIG batch of DVDs that are created. That would save them alot of money and heart ache.

I called back! I said I forgot to specify something about my ANH replacement and she said "you mean WS or FS?" and I said yes.
She said they're only replacing WS ANH DVDs and the WS are "the only complaints we're getting".
I asked again "the WS DVD, right?" She said yes.
Probably the FS suffer the same thing but the only people who would search for defects are WS folks
I had her pull up my name to be sure I'm still there. And I still am. I asked again that it's for the WS she said yes. I thanked her and said bye.

I didn't have the freezing problem but if collecting dvds for so long has taught me anything it is that just because one player doesn't do it doesn't mean the rest won't. So I called up, took all of 2 minutes to do, i'm really surprised they aren't going the prepaid envelope route.
