Are these polls intended to provide you with a guilt complex or paranoia? They do me when I think of how many DVDs I own.

I don't really like it when they have 3 movies in one box and only 1 UPC Code though - like BTTF, and the new Indiana Jones, but anyway - to me, they are only 1!
I'm the same way except with movies. Using the cited examples, I count each movie as one title as they are three movies.

I'm with you . . . a set of TV shows or a miniseries, for example is one title, but a trilogy set would be three.

I list every item which has a separate UPC. Thus, The Christopher Lee Collection is listed as four separate items, but The Nightmare On Elm Street Collection is only listed as one item. I find that this allows for greater consistency in maintaining a database.

Hopefully a lot LESS in a few weeks.

Hellooooo eBay, Netflix, and Gamelender!

I'm not buying any more games or DVDs. For $480 a year I get to play all the newest (and oldest) games I want, including for GBA) and watch all the movies, TV series, and educational series I want. For me it's worth it.

That, and I'm also running out of space to put games and DVDs, so instead of in in in I'm trying to get them out out out. For TV series probably going to keep Buffy and X-Files (the complete series for both) along with Angel and Smallville, but that's about it. I've found I don't rewatch TV series like I thought I would (oh, and I'm keeping ER also ) So about 5 TV series and I'll just rent the rest. Right now I have between 300 and 400 DVDs (including boxsets) and over 100 video games.

Somewhere between 150 and 200 DVDs I think.

I think I may have purchased about a dozen or so VHS back in the day. I've since sold them.

It depends on how you want to count them. According to DVDProfiler it's 215. But that counts TV show sets as one for each set. Why would anyone but me care (and my shelving) care how many DVDs I have?

Somewhere around 400 assuming you count box sets as multiple DVDs.

Recounted and arrived at 53 and counting.. all original. Shamefully I'm not above ripping DVDs from Blockbuster so I guess as soon as I get a DVD-R I can add 3 more.. plus I have a few more on order.

Collection is eating up into my savings

after hitting about 1,300...I've decided to slow down from 10 per week, to about 5. cutting it in half is huge for me. I'll fail this Tuesday....many fine releases that I cant resist. I'll cut down next week.

If someone told me I could get any 10 dvds a week free of charge I doubt I could do that for more than a couple weeks before getting very bored or very desperate.

I own around 100 dvds.

That kind of attitude surprises me.

I have 600+ DVDs, and I could easily come up with another 300 I'd like to own, and another 300 films I'm waiting to be released on DVD.

Who and how are they getting dvds free? That would be pure nirvana for me.

I could go for about 5 weeks. I'm extremely selective about my collection: no barebones discs, almost no mainstream titles, and relatively few non-classic films.

me too. this is a dvd forum and some of us actually like building a personal film library. it's funny how people think it's a bit odd that someone would have a house-full of dvds. and getting bored and desperate? I've got a brand new box of razor blades I'll sell you...just give me yer dvds before you knock yerself off.

when I get done adding all the James Bond box sets I just purchased, and a few more into my dvd profiler, I will have pretty close to 800. I don't think I'm gonna tell my wife how much money we have invested.

admitting you have a problem is the first step in curing yourself. quick, go buy 10 DVDs and you'll be on your way to full rehabilitation.
