How Many DVDs do you own?
After reading this article at video store.com [here] I got to wondering how many DVDs the average Forum Member owns, so I decided to initiate this poll to get an idea.
An additional question: Did you also purchase VHS films? Personally I own about 250 DVDs, but in my 20 years of renting VHS movies, I only BOUGHT 10 of them!

Over 1000 DVDs at this point ... and yes, as a movie lover I also collected VHS tapes, hitting a max of over 2000. I've sold off and given away a lot of the those, but still have about 800 left, most being movies that are still not available on DVD.

Well, I go against the norm if the article is to be believed. I had between 450-500 VHS tapes at the height of my collection. That has been somewhat reduced as I replace them with DVD upgrades and then give the tape away to my family.
My DVD collection is pushing the 175+ mark and growing faster than is probably healthy . . . something that I am sure you all can empathize with.

I never got into VHS, I owned a grand total of four: two from McDonald Happy Meals, and two used from a video store. I still have one of those because I'm waiting for the DVD to be re-issued with a better transfer.
I have 62 DVDs.

1,433 DVDs (I just did a DVD Profiler update)
Due to the poor video quality, I never bought nor owned a pre-recorded VHS (or BETA, for that matter) tape; I do, however,
have around 500 home-recorded VHS tapes with around 1,600 films on them in storage.

Rented VHS during my laserdisc buying days. LD was too expensive to purchase blindly. built a decent collection, but when DVD came along.......BANG!
Prices were great and availability was excellent (unlike LD)
I'm at 2,920 DVDs, 1,344 LDs and 0 VHS
I still go to the theater to see most everything new.

I have over 1200 or 1400 DVDs(which # do you go by in dvdaf. the 1st or 2nd?).
Example: Your entire collection was made up of the Lethal Weapon Legacy
- Your "Matches" number (the 1st one) would be "1" for the "Lethal Weapon Legacy - Director's Cut"
- Your "Titles" number (the 2nd one) would be 3 for "Lethal Weapon - Director's Cut", "Lethal Weapon 2 - Director's Cut", and "Lethal Weapon 3 - Director's Cut" (which are all contained in the set).
Make sense?

1,271 titles. I'll max out at about 1,800 to 2,000...based on my essential needs that still to be filed in my library. had tons of vhs...between 5 and 600 somewhere. still have about 100. sadly....my life path never included LD.
I dont have enough...thats for sure. buying about 10 or so a week is moving things along at a snails pace...gonna start to crank things up a bit. never followed through with the all import months and have fallen behind. I'm ashamed. I'll go out to Borders tomorrow and buy about 7 more I have waiting for me behind the counter. that should make my tummy feel better.

So you want the total of titles. Example Die Hard Trilogy: 1 box, 3 movies, 6 discs. The correct number would be three for that example???

Not sure what they are counting as seperate titles as they are obviously saying some of the movies contain enough extra material to warrant counting as being an additional title though I wouldn't.
Now we need a correlating poll that matches the amount of dvd's owned with amount of a social life.

467 here. I'll hit a half-thousand before the end of the year.
I have most of the catalogue titles I want at this point, so my acquisitions will be limited to new releases & non-R1 discs. There are still about 300 films on my wish list that haven't made it to DVD yet. Figure I'll top out at about 800-1000 when all's said & done.
