I'm at 1212 DVDs (actually a few more as I think DVDProfiler counts box sets as only 1). I'd be interested in a new poll that more precisely shows collection sizes as the most common response to the current poll is over 500 DVDs.

I only own 20. The reason was 2 years ago U got an Apex 1500 and 30 days later it broke. I also had a dvd drive and brought like 16 dvd's then that went out and never replace them.
I just got a Cyberhome 300 dvd player from RadioShack so now I am back buying. I got 4 this month to bring my collection to 20! I am not going to buy 4 a month but I hope to have another 20 by end of next year added to my collection. I got 48 or so added to my wishlist.

DVD: Just over 500.
VHS: Probably around 200, although 40 of those were DS9.
LD: 0
Way I figure it, even 500 puts me into crazy land when some of those "individual titles" run to 15-26 hours. It's even crazier when I think that there are still a number of shows/movies I'd snap up in an instant if they were released.
If I watched 1 DVD per night, then I'd need approximately 2 years before I cycled through them (realistically about 2 1/2 years given the makeup of my collection).

I have over 500 DVDs, and over 500 CDs(exact count unknown - still trying to catalog them).
I had about 60 VHS back in the day but recently sold all but a few(Star Wars) for $2 a peice. They went pretty fast which was suprising. I just needed to get rid of them.
Anyone else a 1 media guy? What I mean is that I like to have one type of media for all my movies. The exception would be live music - I typically buy or try to buy live DVD concerts rather than the CD counter parts. That way I can simply media shift to a CD if I want to listen to it in the car or at work. But I enjoy the concert video footage to much to just buy the CD.
I also disagree with the idea that once people "run out of space" they will stop buying. Has anyone ever seen or heard of someone who just got to a point and said "Guess I'm done.", or "No more room for these I'll have to stop."? I have never even heard of anyone doing this. At the worst people thin out their collections but conitinue to collect or they simply make more room. Thinpaks anyone? I've seen people re-scan their entire collection or reprint their covers so they can convert to thinpaks(I think that's what their called).
If I had a nickel for everytime I heard DVD Collecting compared to crack I'd be a millionaire. I think this guy has it all wrong. A hobby is a hobby regardless. People generally don't just stop a hobby completely. Of course their are exceptions. But most continue collecting but maybe on a smaller scale.

2 more and we have 600 titles on DVD.
Going from 500 to 600 seems to have taken ages compared to the earlier whoring days of collecting!
We just treated ourselves to a Sony 46WT510 widescreen TV too. We've been rewatching so many movies lately and how much sweeter it is! It's a good thing we only ever bought widescreen DVDs!

That is the problem with the shortsidedness of J6P. They will soon discover their mistake or simply but the blame on the TV salesman who sold them a "defective black bar TV!!"

I have 250 DVDs and I seriously think I have a problem, but after looking at other members who have over a thousand movies...I'm not doing all that bad after all : ).
Thanks guys! I feel a lot better today. LOL

Nice setup, especially the posters! What's up with the babe pictures on the laptop?

...re: Colorado -- had a bit of snow yesterday, but it's back up in the high 50s today, so yeah, we've been a bit dry so far this winter.
Though prolly not as dry as Texas...
