Thanks to all the people who voted, appreciate it. I can now see that I should have made the categories different. Having only one number for >500 was a mistake.

Oh well, live and learn! Anybody got good ideas for category numbers??

I've got a bit more than 700 titles on DVD. I once owned as many as 10 VHS tapes, but don't have any since replacing the video recorder with TIVO.

I'm at 494 right now with 6 on pre-order so that would make 500. I've been slowin' down cuz I have so many unopened DVDs that have dropped in price and since they're still sealed I feel like a fool.

I've got 464 as of now. I'll be at 500 very soon with all the titles coming out this fall and winter.

I have not counted in about a year, but I probably have about 350 DVDs.

I do not have a VHS player anymore. I laid it to rest in the summer of '02.

I just broke 200. Never bought many VHS tapes and I started buying DVDs in the summer of 2000.

I'm at about 200 DVD's - I started collecting a year ago, so that's not too bad, I guess.

I never got into buying VHS stuff (thank goodness) - I only bought about 20 total over the years. And most of those were used/PV stuff from video rental stores.

The only VHS I kept was my Mario Bava's Black Sabbath, which is nice since the Image DVD only has the Italian language track (Karloff dubbed into Italian - Nooooooooo!).

I'm at about 400 after 4 years of owning a DVD player... but I've been picky about my purchases for the last few months... that's about what... 8 DVDs a week?

Wow... never thought of that before...

I'm closing in on 800, but either it's been a really crappy summer, or I'm being lots more selective. November is going to be busy.

I've sold most of my VHS collection, but probably still have 100+ left. I would say I had around 400 or so.

Nope . . . about 2 DVD's a week . . .

2 DVD's/week x 52 weeks/year x 4 years = 416 DVD's in 4 years

8 DVD's/week x 52 weeks/year x 4 years = 1664 DVD's in 4 years

I'm definitely above 300...not sure where though.

How is everyone counting multi disc sets like The Soprano's or other TV seasons?

125 laserdiscs and about 300 VHS....but I'm slowly replacing many of these on DVD when a good deal comes around.

I count DVD sets as one DVD, unless the volumes can be bought seperately (like Monty Python or I Love Lucy)

But counting every box set as one I have a little under 430 DVDs, a lot more if I split up my box sets.

Yeah, I agree - The Sopranos Season Sets are 1 DVD, there's only 1 UPC Code, so it can only be one. Same with The Season Sets of Friends - it counts as 1. Unfortunately even the BTTF set only counts as 1. Likewise with Band of Brothers - it's only 1.

I don't really like it when they have 3 movies in one box and only 1 UPC Code though - like BTTF, and the new Indiana Jones, but anyway - to me, they are only 1!
