Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2
Wow! That beats all of the others thus far! $6 TV Sets at Big Lots sounds great but will be really hard to get. But with so many Wal-marts around open 24/7 ... 90 DVD titles for $1.96 each? 60 DVD TV box sets $12 each? 60 Blu-Ray titles for $5 each? These are great deals! Now I am just wondering about online prices? Last year I got stuff at BestBuys.com and Wal-mart.com during the Cyber Monday deal. If any of this is reflected online with free site-to-store shipping then we could all sit at home and order away and pick up after everyone has cleared out the following week.
This just might work! I picked up Casino Royale for $1.99 free site-to-store last year. (I think that was Best Buys on that one though.)
Hmmmm ... still very interesting. Thanks for posting newginafets!

Looking like Wallymart may make this a worthy Black Friday after all. (I'm scowling at you, Target!) Of course, it will be a zoo. But worth the effort.

Last year at Crossgates Commons in Albany NY, they put the $2 and $5 movies in front of the dairy case. Was insane but fun.
Definitely hitting here...but pretty much only for the movies and TV shows...otherwise, looking like a pretty sad Black Friday for me.
If anyone gets a leak on what the TV titles are, please pass them along...

I'm definitely heading to Wallyworld to pick up a couple of the $5 and $10 blu's and to check out what other television shows they have for $12.

And here I was, content to stay home and hit Amazon. $5.00 Blu's could be the game-changer. I won't be there bright and early, but instead take my chances later in the afternoon. I'll give Walmart credit for one thing above else: they generally have more than sufficient stock to outlast the initial onslaught.

God help me, I might actually consider buying The Dark Knight for $5.00 just to get a slipcover (the copy I grabbed at Target last year didn't have one for some reason). It's not a priority, but if I make it to Walmart at all on Black Friday I won't be surprised if I don't do something that stupid.

I'm not concerned. Each of the last couple of years, we've avoided Walmart early and gone in after 6 at night and found quite a lot of sale DVDs. I don't know if it'll be the same this year, but the last several years my local store has done a great job of having more than enough supply to last throughout the day. There might be a title or two depleted in its entirety by the time we get there in the early evening, but we've still had to put back titles to keep from going entirely overboard. I'm not concerned.

Also, I forgot to mention: Last night, my wife ran in for a few incidentals (cat litter, some Cokes, etc.) and walked right next to a Christmas display that included Merry Madagascar on DVD being clearanced out at $1.00 a pop. She bought ten of them, one for us and one for each of several families we know with young'uns. If we have any remainder (there might be a few), they're going to a local charity drive.

For those who are getting really excited about $5 Blu-Rays at Walmart on Black Friday, most of them will probably be the ones that were $4 or $5 at Target last year with coupon (the ones that we normally see for $9.99 at either Walmart or Target now). You know: Chaos, Crank, Transporters, Rambos, Lord of War, Punisher, Reservoir Dogs, Total Recall, Training Day, Swordfish, The Usual Suspects, Wedding Singer, Cutthroat Island, Gothika, etc. Those are just the ones that popped into my head having glanced at the $9.99 BDs in these stores over the last year. I truly hope there are some other good titles in there besides the "same old same old", but I'm not going to get my hopes up.
I think from that picture (which I can barely read) Taking of Pelhman 1-2-3 is the only one I don't have (and Legion which I know nothing about). I expect I'll get a few, but for me I doubt I'll be getting too excited over the $5 BD section but rather saying "already have it" or "wish I had waited". For those who are just starting their BD collections or who missed the Target $4 and $5 BDs last BF and who have been patiently waiting, then yes... you could score a bunch of $5 BDs this BF. And who would've thought Angels & Demons would be in that list except for the fact I already bought it for $10 at Walmart many months ago.
The $5 BD bins are coming soon. :-)

How does Black Friday in Wal-Mart work? It opens 24 hours a day and every year, I go there at a random time, not knowing when they actually have the sales.

Our stores close to the public Wednesday nights. They're closed until 5:00 AM Friday morning. Wed. night, pretty much every employee is on hand to unload several trucks and get everything where it needs to be.
