Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

when I was in picking up the pupper master trilogy for $5, I also picked up another title in echo bridge's midnight horror line, a 4 pack of independant zombie movies that were all in widescreen for $5. echo bridge has licenced the rights to some pretty cool stuff from full moon and brain damage/asylum

That's not the first time I've seen it called "Pupper Master"

No, but I'd pick it up in a second - even if it's a VHS sourced print. I'd love to have 'Curtains' on DVD in some form - especially for $5. Has anyone else spotted this?

Curtains is part of a Echo Bridge Midnight Horror 4 pack called Bloody Slashers for anyone who might be looking for it. All the Midnight Horror packs are pretty cheap on Amazon as well except for the Puppet Master one.

The case is solid, yet lightweight. I don't have a problem with these types of cases.
It's the ones with the holes I dislike.
I guess I'll go back and pick one up then, thanks.

I grabbed the last copy today at my local Wal-Mart, Like others have said it's in a 4 pack with 1 disc and 2 movies on each side. And Curtains is from a VHS source but it's fine with me and worth the $5 I spent on it.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

I was just wondering if anyone has actually seen Darkwing Duck Volumes 1-2 or Talespin Volumes 1-2 at Wal-mart for $12.96. I've only seen Rescue Ranger Volumes 1-2 and Duck Tales Volumes 1-2 (I swear I saw 3 once.) since I posted about them. I picked up the Rescue Rangers sets and am now pondering picking up the Duck Tales sets. But I would prefer the others or even Gummi Bears over Duck Tales.

Thanks for the info. I saw a couple Echo Bridge horror 4-packs in the bin (what a mess) this afternoon. Sadly, this wasn't one of them. They did have a 4-sided cardboard display with assorted Fox/Universal titles. These were all marked $4:

Slumdog Millionaire
The Game
Jumper
X-Men: The Last Stand (Single Disc)
The Marine (Unrated)
Babe: Pig in the City

There were more, but those are all I can remember at the moment.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Are these studio clearance titles? They haven't had any of those in a long time; they used to get them in every few months. Hope they get another one from Paramount so I can get some of their out-of-print titles (which if I do, they'll probably reissue them on Blu-Ray, and if I don't, they'll never go back in print again ever.)

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

There were just a handful of $4 DVDs - I'd say less than a dozen. The majority of the display was filled with $7 titles (Last House remake, Meet the Fockers) and some double and triple features of classic movies from Fox (I don't recall the price on those).

For those of you that want the Friday The 13th Deluxe Editions and cannot find them at Big Lots ...

Friday The 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan (Deluxe Edition) $11.86 Free Site-To-Store shipping.
http://www.walmart.com/ip/11804207

Friday The 13th Uncut (Deluxe Edition) $12.73 Free Site-To-Store shipping.
http://www.walmart.com/ip/10759975

Friday The 13th: The Final Chapter (Deluxe Edition) $12.74 Free Site-To-Store shipping.
http://www.walmart.com/ip/10980336

Friday The 13th, Part 3 - 3D (Deluxe Edition) $12.74 Free Site-To-Store shipping.
http://www.walmart.com/ip/10759974

Friday The 13th, Part 2 (Deluxe Edition) $12.74 Free Site-To-Store shipping.
http://www.walmart.com/ip/10893754

Friday the 13th, Part V: A New Beginning (Deluxe Edition) $14.86 Free Site-To-Store shipping.
http://www.walmart.com/ip/10980325

Not the best prices. But an option. I am just wondering if you order via Wal-mart.com will you get the slipcovers Big Lots is missing?

Speaking of slipcovers ... I bought Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and TMNT with slipcovers. I have very little interest in part 3 which has a slipcover at every Wal-mart I go to. However, part 2 which I do want is flooding Wal-marts all over. But no slipcover included.

It is shown with slipcover here.

http://www.walmart.com/ip/1953315

But I fear if I order it they will just give me one of their old copies without the slipcover. eBay and Amazon.com also show the slipcover image but make no mention if it on their listings. It's very frustrating.

Sorry if this post wasn't helpful to you. I may pick up Part VIII at that price. I am one of the few people who actually like part VIII. As for slipcovers ... if a movie comes with one then I want one. I feel cheated having to take one with a missing slipcover. Especially on these TMNT movies. The slipcover images are much better than the old covers on the DVD's.

^ Don't quote me, but I think I've seen some (perhaps not all) of these deluxe editions at Wal-mart for $9. Now since many of these stores have gone through a remodel of sorts recently in their electronics section, they may be more difficult to find. Then again, you're more likely to locate them now since it's close to Halloween then you would at another time.

IN the $5 bin saw a Tony Curtis marathon! Did they strike these just after he died, or just coincidence?

Some Like it Hot
Operation Petticoat
Taras Bulba

Rat Race (2001 - not the Tony Curtis one)

but no Clash of the Titans!

Is "Curtains" a good horror flick? Should I pick it up?

They seem to do that after many celebrities have died. Patrick Swayze, Corey Haim, and Michael Jackson all come to mind.

^ Saw those Tony Curtis movies and snagged Operation Petticoat for myself.

I wish Wal-mart had the "Find in stores" option on their website and that some how it was miraculously accurate! I want the Friday The 13ths, Disney box sets, a TMNT 2 slipcased copy, and more. I frequent two Wal-marts but I know where four more are way up the road. If calling did any good at all I'd try it. But that has never worked out before. It's too bad. I wish there was some way to know what a store had on inventory. Then I could just drive to a location and pick up what I wanted. Driving to six Wal-marts just won't cut it. I'd pay online prices to avoid paying for gas and my wasted time.

I saw Curtains in the theater back in the day and thought it was horrible.

Yeah, there are certainly better slashers out there than 'Curtains'. But I enjoyed Samantha Eggar's performance and the film's chronic out-of-print status has kept it on my DVD wish list.

I found something that I thought was real cool tonight in the $5 bin, a charles bronson 3pk of "the mechanic" "messenger of death" and "assasination". it is on 2 discs with messenger and assasination on 1 disc and the mechanic on the other. not sure if they are widescreen or not, havnt watched them yet and it didnt specify on the box, but, I thought it was worth it just for the mechanic, which is a classic bronson film.
