Three of the 20% coupons are now active and found they do work with the library link. No membership is required to use them.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
I'm in the UK and I was a B&N member until late last year when I let it lapse. I've bought one or two titles since, but I'm waiting for the Criterion sale (like everyone else); I suppose there's no benefit in my renewing my membership? I don't qualify for any free shipping offer, they've canned the members discount, so, unless I'm missing something, can I assume that there's no advantage?

Carol Reed's Night Train to Munich is currently $17.99 (40% off).

What's the consensus on membership for U.S. residents? Are there enough $5 coupons to make it worthwhile?

Of course, it all depends on what titles you want, how often you buy books, etc etc etc |

It's not worth it at all. They removed the member discount, and replaced it with "free" express shipping. Funny thing is the shipping takes just as long as it did before. My Leave it to Beaver set won't deliver until Friday, 4 days to deliver which really pisses me off. That is NOT express service.

Shippings delays may be more related to your location in relation to their warehouses. For example, my "Leave it to Beaver" was picked up in NJ by the shipper last night around 11 pm and delivered to my doorstep (MD) by 2 pm this afternoon. I'd definitely call 15 hour shipping "Express".

That said, I won't be renewing. The removal of the extra discount online, the "universality" of the newer coupons, and the generally higher prices have soured me. Happily, mine is still in effect through 7/31, so I will fulfill my Criterion needs, and then just let it lapse. |
Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
Just placed an order using the library link and a 20% coupon.
The White Ribbon (blu-ray) - $22.45 A Personal Journey with Martin Scorsese through American Movies - $16.19 My Voyage to Italy - $0 (buy 2 get 1) Total w/ tax and shipping = $41.05 I've been looking for the cheapest place to get The White Ribbon and the two Scorsese films were just a bonus when I noticed The White Ribbon was included in the buy 2 get 1 sale. Thanks for everything Laser! |
Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
My plan to buy the soon to be OOP The Man Who Fell to Earth in the B&N sale seems to have fallen through; both the SD and BD versions are now not available to order.

I have had this happen to me several times before. Usually they cancel my free one, or the item that has the coupon applied. I was always charged appropriately for the rest of the order,
Of course, always check your c/c to verify... |

Can I return these in store or do I have to ship them back? |
Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
When they pull this type of scam, it is very hard to return in store as they need the item never sent that was charged for. So the answer is likely cant return in store.
|
Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
I no longer use a coupon on a B2G1 because they did this to me twice last year. You can get it thru if you are in early on the sale prior to the stuff going out of stock but once they start stretching the delivery they apparantley check the orders more.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
I'm getting fed up with B&N. My last two orders were supposed to have Express 1-3 day shipping, but both times they've sent it UPS Ground! This takes 6 days to get to me - twice what was promised.
I complained the first time and was given the runaround that the express delivery times were not guaranteed by them - missing the point that they didn't use the shipping method promised! I've complained again, but as this second order only shipped today, won't know of the reply for a while. Has anyone else had this problem? |
Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
At least you got the ups ground. My order got stuck with dhl smartpost. And that crap takes a long time. Last time they used that it took them a month to deliver a single dvd.
|
Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2
Whether or not B&N gets more of my business depends on how they handle this situation. If they resolve the overcharging painlessly either via a partial refund on credit towards a DVD of equal value I will continue to buy from them. If they make it difficult, I'll take my business elsewhere.
