Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

Looks like another non event sale. I see they raised the price of Public Enemies blu-ray from $14 to $23 bucks, and Daybreakers is now $36 bucks. Even with this sale, I bet Amazon prices are better.

Really tired of their bullshit sales. I feel so ripped off for renewing my membership. Been almost a whole year, and not one great deal from them.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

Not all titles are B2G1 as far as I know. And like others, I've seen no banner or page for the sale. I searched for something I wanted and the B2G1 logo was on the item page. If the logo is there, then that item is part of the sale. However, even at B2G1, the price wasn't good enough for me to bite.

Last night there were some deals to be had before they ended the sale prices that were going on. But I doubt I'll be ordering anything else during this sale...

Here is the master link for the sale:

Buy 2, Get 3rd Free

Here is the list of Blu-rays sorted by price:

Blu-ray

Just look for this icon next to each item:

As others have mentioned, not much of a deal on this sale. There may be a gem or two, but title by title, about the same as Amazon's everyday prices.

Funny that they advertise every dvd and blu-ray as part of the sale, yet Man with No Name Trilogy doesn't have the banner and it is priced low. Figures.

Yeah, it sucks that not everything is included. I don't think a single Criterion, at least not a single BD, is included in the sale.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

Every title in store is on sale. Only selected titles on line.

Just did a store search and the things I was looking for that weren't covered online are in store right now, so looks like I'll be picking those up today.
Everyone bitches about the DD sale, but most of what I want is only pennies cheaper here. The only reason I would go to the trouble of picking it up here is that I can make sure the boxes aren't banged up, and don't have to worry about them getting crushed in a bubble mailer. For the things in a regular hard case I may just put another order in with DD.

I don't know why anyone would want to buy Criterions now. Wait four weeks and they'll be significantly cheaper.

Here's at least one deal today. I passed on a couple of other bargains on Terminator Salvation but decided to bite this time for $5.72 with the AAA coupon.

Terminator Salvation $7.49

I've had the complete opposite--DD always looks fine, but every book I got recently from B&N.com has had smashed corners and Young Indy V1 that arrived yesterday had the outer case is crushed and torn at the corner.

I meant going to the store to cherry pick the best copy. I hit two locations today and was able to use a $5 off coupon at the second. The douche at the first told me it would be a waste to use it because the discount would be taken off the lowest priced title which in this case would be the free one. I was too flabbergasted to argue the point so I just left. Looking at the coupon later I noticed the discount is taken after all other discounts so he was of course wrong. The guy at the second place just scanned it no questions at it rang up as expected.
The first loc did have some good deals on some Universal TV sets I wanted- 20% off instead of 10, so I will be going back in a couple days.

I'm taking the lack of Criterion discs being included in the sale as a good omen for July.

Why wouldn't they want to include them now and get more profit?

Not a classic movie set (and a few dollars more), but I went with Burn Notice: Season Three.

Does Criterion "sponsor" sales on their titles? In other words, do they give mark-down credit to a specific retailer at a given time? I really don't know...

My guess? Stock preparation and avoidance of customer service complications -- "Oh, I ordered this and this last month, but now it's cheaper. Refund, refund, refund." Plus, I do believe that Criterion pre-arranges approved sales, especially since they sell their product on their website.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

I was in my local B&N today, and was disappointed to see so many of the Criterion Blu-ray digi-packs still in stock.

This does not portend well for several titles I want, as a store cannot not special order an item that shows an "in stock" status in the computer.

Since I'm not going through the hassle/expense of upgrading the cases through Criterion, I may be "on the road again" in search of my wish-list titles in plastic keep-cases.

Thanks for the tip. A couple of pennies more than I paid at Deep Discount, but it's in stock here. This time I even paid tax!

A TPR (temporary price reduction) is the retailer's decision. The manufacturer (Criterion) can be notified of the TPR (for planning/stocking purposes) but can NOT offer a lower price to one retailer over another. That would be illegal.

I think that volume discounts are legal but they need to be set and available to everyone.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

I see.

I thought I had read some speculation on here that another retailer would be "getting the next sale", as B&N had the last two, and it was "someone else's turn", or some such. In other words, Criterion would dictate who could have the sale on their merch. and not the retailer....

Think of it this way, Criterion sets the manufacturer's retail price. If a retailer temporarily discounts that price, the retailer is simply reducing their cut of the sale, not Criterion's. So, if multiple retailers want to use Criterion's products as a loss leader, Criterion will be smiling all the way to the bank - because they are getting their share regardless.

That's a great price on a truly wonderful set! Really a must-own for any Neil Young fan. 10 Blu-rays, a DVD and a CD, plus assorted goodies for $150 is a pretty good deal.

I noticed it says "Note: This item does not qualify for coupons or promotional discounts unless expressly stated." I tried using the 50% coupon and it would not apply it.

I tried both the member and non-member coupons again this morning and it's still working for me. Cost is $174.99 with either coupon. If you use the library link it drops to $145. Here are the coupon codes for anyone interested.
