I'm not sure what is going on, but thought it was weird that B&N sent me some coupons in the mail today, and claim I'm not subscribed to the email list. I'm curious to see if that link turns them on again.

Gave it a shot too. Thanks for posting. It's worth a shot!

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

My registered account (linked with my expired membership) never got me much in the way of special coupon offers. Another of my email addresses which I got in March is the one the gets the special discounts; that address must have belonged to someone that BN wants back. They identify that person as Anthony, not my name.

I'm getting very anxious to see if that 50% online coupon that anyone can use will materialize. I've already figured out what I'll use it on (not a dvd, but still...).

Just keep in mind, that there are items that aren't eligible for such coupons and discounts. Make sure the item you want to use it on is eligible before getting your hopes up.

The last time one happened, I was anxiously awaiting it to be posted, but we never found the actual coupon. We'll likely need someone who actually receives it to post the link here. So don't get your hopes up. We may never get it. It also may not exist. It could be a scam by B&N, making people think they have a chance to get 50% off, when in fact that coupon doesn't exist. Although I doubt that's the case, with B&N, nothing would surprise me...

Thanks, I gave it a shot as well... I am using a temporary 2-month membership, but hopefully it still works. I was receiving emails up until Black Friday, but nothing since. I wasn't a member on this account until two weeks ago. I hoped they would start again after becoming a member, but they did not.

I would be very surprised if a 50%, 30%, 20%, or 15% coupon code shows up that everyone can use. Codes may exist but I doubt B&N will release it to everyone, or to anyone that will leak it. Unfortunately B&N wised up about posting a lot of the coupon codes where they are easy to find now. I figure the big promotion push this week is going to be the surprise offer. However it's only valid for people that actually receive email offers. If you don't get a specific code sent to your email address your out of luck with that one.

I seriously doubt it. B&N is certainly flakey at times but they don't intentionally "scam" anyone. It's most likely a coupon sent to select accounts and linked to an email address.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

FYI, some Oscar Best Picture nominees, are currently 40% off and DO still count as part of the B2G1F sale (except for pre-orders like Black Swan and True Grit)
http://video.barnesandnoble.com/u/Os...linkid=1680341
Although the links are for the DVD versions, but BD versions are also at 40% off...

I guess it doesn't make for a huge list, but these are the titles:

* Inception
* The Kids Are All Right
* The Social Network
* Toy Story 3
* Winter's Bone

Look what I found. Now the question is which coupons scan 50% at stores. Please don't try using these until tomorrow.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

HOLY MOTHER OF PEARL!!! Thanks, Laser! Yes, I am VERY curious which one will give 50% off. I won't hold my breath that we'll find an online 50% off coupon, but in-store works for me! I never get shot down using coupons on ship-to-home orders...

I would assume the 50% off coupon is either the first or last in each set of Member or Non-Member coupons. It is likely in a sequence. So I'll print those four coupons out, and give em a try tomorrow...

So....what do we do, show up with the stack printed out, and just ask the clerk to scan 'em?

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

Thanks for posting LASERMOVIES. Weird that there's so many different ones. I really want to use the coupon to get 50% Off of the John Lennon Signature Box Set, but when in the past I've tried to use coupon codes online for it, it didn't qualify for the discount. Maybe in-store it would be different.

I doubt you'll find a clerk that would. Here's what I'm gonna do. I figure the 50% off coupon is either the highest in each sequence, or the lowest in each sequence. I will print two coupons. I'll take the highest from one sequence, and the lowest from the other sequence. If the first one is a low discount, I'll ask them to try the second one. Seeing as they are different coupons (one is a member coupon, and the other is a non-member coupon), they likely will do it. But an entire stack of 9 coupons? I don't recommend it...

Somehow I knew the 50% coupon wouldn't work online, but I was hoping to combine one with the B2G1 sale. It certainly says something about their laughable prices that I'd need to combine both a B2G1 and a 50% coupon to get the level of discount that Amazon offers everyday (and without sales tax).

I'm not sure how they are going to work this with the store coupons, but I figure each coupon will have a different value based on the numbers or barcode. No idea if it will be random, or in a particular sequence or not. However if I can get some help I could label the coupons to what they are scanning at the register to take the guess work out of it. That way no one would have to take a stack of coupons.

It might be a long shot for an online 50% code but the odds look better for a store coupon. A lot of stores will let you use the coupons to do ship to home orders. Prices can be high on certain items but if you look for the deals you can beat Amazon prices if you're willing to work the system to your advantage.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

People seem to be assuming that each coupon has a fixed discount attached to it. How do we know that the discounts are not instead tied to individual member accounts? For example, maybe you use coupon A and get 50% off, while I use it and only get 15% off.

The non-member coupons couldn't work like that though, right?

Sorry, you're right, I only saw the member coupons in the first post and didn't realize there were non-member coupons as well. I guess they could still be randomized somehow, although probably the assumption of fixed discounts is right after all. These mystery-meat coupons are just really odd and are certain to create more work for cashiers and result in more canceled transactions. I wonder why they chose to issue such weird coupons.

I also received the 101341 so I'd guess it's not the 50% off one.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

Some questions for you experts,

(1) If you buy multiple items, can you use one coupon for each item?

(2) Can you use this coupon with the 3 for 2 promotion? (Does not look like you can, maybe that's why they expire on the 30th.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

1. It depends on the cashier.

2. These are in-store coupons and as far as I know the B2G1 is an online only promotion.

The B2G1 sale is in stores as well and any coupon should work with the sale. At least, coupons have worked with the sale in the past.
