Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

Found out today the surprise coupons are coming later in the week. Could also mean there will be coupon restrictions for the Criterion sale. I remember they had these during the last Criterion sale and as soon as they started coming out they slapped on the restrictions making them virtually worthless online and at stores for the sale. If you have a membership you may have to rely on the $8 DVD/Blu and $5/$50 coupons at stores.

http://cart2.barnesandnoble.com/shop...&promoid=10822

Surprise Savings Coupon Details:

This coupon can be redeemed only once per customer per billing address at any Barnes & Noble retail store or online at BN.com.

Discount will be revealed at checkout. You may choose not to complete your transaction after seeing your discount and before paying.

This coupon is valid from October 31, 2012 and expires in stores November 4, 2012 at close of business, or for orders placed online, at 2:59 a.m. Eastern Time November 5, 2012, while supplies last.

This coupon entitles you to one of the following discounts: 10%, 15%, 20%, 30% or 50% off the one eligible item in your order. The discount will be applied to the most expensive eligible item in the order - not the entire purchase - and will be deducted after all other eligible discounts, including (if applicable) the standard Member discount, are applied.

Additional Rules Governing Use of this Coupon: This coupon is (i) not redeemable for cash or cash equivalents (including Gift Cards and eGift Cards); (ii) not valid on past purchases; (iii) not eligible for purchases of the following products and services: Barnes & Noble Memberships, Gift Cards, eGift Cards, gift-wrapping, textbooks, digital content (including but not limited to NOOK Books"!, NOOK Magazines"!, and NOOK Periodicals), NOOKŪ devices, NOOK accessories that are already discounted, other hardware and electronics, software, products available for pre-order, products from the Rosetta Stone Series, in-store purchases of Print Magazines, or products marked as not eligible for "coupons or promotional discounts," (iv) not valid on purchases made from third parties accessible from the BN.COM website (e.g., used books, etc.); (v) not valid on applicable sales tax or shipping or handling expenses; (vi) may not be combined with any other coupon or promotional discount; and (vii) may not be combined with the Educator program discount. This coupon is not valid at Barnes & Noble College bookstores or websites. Barnes&Noble.com is not responsible for typographical or pictorial errors.

This offer is subject to change or discontinuation without notice; we will, however, honor properly placed orders with valid methods of payment with sufficient funds placed prior to such change or discontinuation. Void where prohibited by law.
Coupons are already up at B&N.com. To receive a valid coupon with a barcode you have to be signed up and receiving email offers directly from B&N.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

Sale appears to be live right now. Do I mass order or wait for coupons?

Also, I'm contemplating doing the 2 month free trial just to capitalize on this deal. How easy is it to cancel the trial membership? I thought I read in the past they would try to charge people the difference of the discounts they got before it was canceled. Is there any truth in this or was it just rumors?

If you have a membership the only current online code should work. Depending what you purchase it could save you up to $13. I have a feeling we might see online coupon restrictions when the surprise coupons start going out in a few days.

Cancellation is easy for the free trial and can be done online. Just do it before the 60 day auto renewal charge and you will be charged zero no matter how much you use it.
You only get deducted if you buy a full membership and then cancel after using discounts.
BN Buzz looks like it's dead. Haven't seen any information for new coupons in over a month, and when you try to go to the buzz page it redirects you to B&N web site now.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

what's with being charged right away for pre-orders? Ordered a couple of the post-sale titles on line and noticed the confirmation page said something about my card being charged the amount of the sale...checked my account and it has indeed already been charged - for something being released in December. wtf is that?

My CC lists 3 Temp charges for my preorders.
I am just using my visa Debit card, and they showed up as pending charges immediately. My message at the end of the order states
"An email confirming the details of your order will be sent within 30 minutes.

Order Total: $21.72 has been paid by credit card."
This was for Purple Noon coming out 12/4. The message for the Shochiku Eclipse set was the same. the "has been paid" part is what made me check my bank acct. As of now they are debits being subtracted from my balance. Not happy - but also don't want to cancel them if these are going away, which I suspect will happen.

Maybe I'm blind, but I'm not seeing a member coupon on the first page. What is the "only current online code"?

Coupon code R4B4J3K is for members. Should take $5 off a $50 purchase online, or $8 off a DVD and blu-ray title selling for $40 or more online. Actually both offers would stack if you can find something that qualifies. If you purchase a $40 title, and purchase another to put the total over $50 it would take $13 off.

I'm hoping for a non-member coupon in the next few days - I'm only planning on buying two discs, so I only need one!

The coupon is still working for me. I have a bunch of Criterions in my cart, and it is showing a $5 discount. Do you have any pre-orders in your cart?

^That has to be it. I'm a member and the coupon code would not work with my pre-orders last night but it works today with in-stock items.

My density factor kicking in: Laser, do you mean a $40 title post sale price or pre sale price?

Unlike the store version of the coupon the pre or post sale price is irrelevant for the online version of the coupon. It has to have a price $40 or more for it to activate the $8 discount. Anything under won't qualify.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

I've heard some people have been able to price match Barnes & Nobles 50% Criterion sale at Best Buy. 50% off Best Buy's Criterion prices = pretty good deal. YMMV though.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

Does anyone know if AAA members still get 10% off? Can't remember if it was in store or online.

ADDED
Looks like it might be still available for members of AAA Mountainwest only.
Alaska, Montana and Wyoming. Most likely not a lot of B&N in these states.

But no discount for Oregon/ Idaho or California AAA members.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

Heh, even if I was to price match Best Buy I would only be saving $0.53 compared to Barnes & Noble. $13.80 it comes out to with my membership discount and buzz code.

Ugh the coupon doesn't seem to be working on either Brazil or Qatsi.

Nevermind, I guess it doesn't work with pre-orders.

Got 4 of the coupon emails. 20% on one, 15% on the others. I have a $400 book I want to buy (seriously) so really wanted a 30% or 50% coupon. I'd kill for either of those...

THANKS!!

I had been eyeing the Paul Robeson collection for quite a while... tossing that into my cart along with a $19.99 blu-ray gave me 50% off - $13. Can't beat that.

The packaging on the Robeson set is very flimsy - the box is slightly too big for the contents so the whole thing is prone to inward crushing. My copy from bn.com arrived crushed, as did the replacement.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

Purchased Sunday Bloody Sunday and Rosemary's Baby in blu in store. My membership expires today and I think I am done being a member for now. Will see what the holiday season brings as far as discounts but the only time I seem to buy at Barnes and Noble are the Criterion sales.
