Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

Confirming BUZZ works...Tried to get People On Sunday..but with my member discount it knocked it below 15, so I got Stagecoach for around 13 bucks instead. They did call a manager up to ask if it could be used because "they werent taking coupons on Criterions". But that was just this one store.

503101 is $5 off $15 or more. I'd imagine you'd have to show the text message though, and not just give the code. I know it wouldn't have flown if I just tried saying the code at my store when I used it.

Thanks! That's the original code I was texted back in December, which is still on my phone. Might be worth a try.

Mine says "must be used within 7 days".....so if they get in depth in to reading your texts they might not honor it.

So all there is to this coupon is a text from BN Buzz with the promo code saying that you can take $5 off a $15 in-store purchase and that it must be used within 7 days?

It seems as though they would just be asking to be ripped off with a process like that. Any random person could just fake such a text.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

I handed mine over to the cashier and manager and they inspected it. The texts come from a specific number. It all depends on the store and how in depth they get about it. Some may just ask for the code and be done with it.

I highly doubt the store knows what number it comes from. I just forwarded myself that text, so it now shows today's date. I'll try to use it tonight...

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

So yeah it worked for me. I bought The 39 Steps for $12.99, a combination of my trial membership 10% discount and the $5 code. After the transaction I asked her if that code would work twice and if I could buy another one I really wanted. She said they don't work like that, and that she really didn't want to do it. I pressed her once more and she said they didn't work. Sensing I was agitating her I said, "Ok thanks anyway." So with that I walked away... but plan on going back in several days or trying another location.

Knowing there was a Best Buy next door, I decided to see if I could get the titles for $15 there. I went in with 3 DVDs for trade and save, and after getting my coupons I decided to ask a cashier if the coupons would take an additional $5 off a $19.99 price match from Barnes and Noble. He said he wasn't sure, but they could probably make it work even if the system wouldn't let him. Long story short I brought up the Lady Vanishes, and The Great Dictator and a $9.99 title... the system wouldn't take the coupons, but he asked a manager for an override and I was able to get them for $15 each! They said they really weren't supposed to, but it wasn't a big deal. I was very nice, and not pushy at all.

I'll post the exact text here from the Text, and the phone number it comes from:

From: 613-64

BN Buzz: Thanks for enrolling! Visit your nearest B&N Store in the next 7 days to save $5 off your in-store purchase of $15 or more with code: 503101.

No problem so use it while you can. This seems like one of those things that may become a YMMV if it's used a lot because it could be very easy to creat even if you're not signed up.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

How aggressive are they about sending texts through this Buzz club? The $5 off sounds great, but it may not be worth it if I'll be getting a bunch of junk from them (and whoever they share the info with) for the foreseeable future. Thanks.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

Worked again today at a different location. 2 separate transactions in combination with my trial membership. Just showed the clerk the message. $12.99 each ain't bad. Now I feel bad for complaining about not getting the mystery coupons. This is way better. Tokyo drifter and Robinson Crusoe on Mars were my pickups.

It might stop them from sending texts but maybe not keep them from monitoring your purchasing tendencies. I might be off target here but i'm still skeptical. I went ahead and signed up using my bank card that I do very little with anyways. I use it about 90% of the time to take cash out and very little of anything else.

I always worry about security so I'm careful with my CC #s. I'm even more careful with a bank card which doesn't carry the same protections as credit cards. I considered signing up with my bank card but I decided giving that number to anyone is a bad idea.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

1. Does anyone know when the buzz coupon expires?

2. Can the buzz coupon be used more than once?

Thanks
