Assume that all of these are available to all customers unless specifically listed as member only.

Mini FAQ
Coupons should not work for PREORDERS , Criterions, Nook, Legos, Rosetta Stone, Digital, Gift Cards, Memberships, etc.
Free Shipping is $25 (before tax/shipping) or with membership.
Online only a single code can be applied to an order

Return period is 14 days after delivery though possibly it's 30 days now for most people though there is a discrepancy b/w the receipt and website.
Online ordered items can returned to a local store unless it's classified as a web-only item then it's at the store's discretion to accept

Single Item 15% OFF, but should be reusable in different transaction and if the Clerks will scan it more than once.

Expiration 12/31/2020 and despite the coupon language is only good for In-store coupon Eligible items.

The long standing Free 60 day Trial Offer was discontinued in late May 2016

Signed up for the trial membership. Is it normal for it to say under account settings, that my membership expires November 4th 2012? Email told me it was the 2 month trial aswell.

That's your expiration date if you forget to cancel within two months. They will bill you for a year, retroactive to when the trial started.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

So, BN took over my Borders account (which was under a different email address). Were they supposed to automatically create an account for me under that email address? I tried logging in (using my old Borders password) and it did not work. And Do I get a trial membership at BN.com automatically?

Thanks to illennium and kenbenobi for explaining the coupon.

I'm not a fb member. Hopefully I'll be around if/when any more generous people decide to post extras.

I never remember seeing anything about B&N automatically creating a new account if you were a former Borders customer. B&N did send out emails they obtained the customer data from Borders, and for a limited time you could opt out of having your customer data transferred to Barnes & Noble. Also if you had a Rewards Plus Membership you may qualify for a free B&N membership through January 2012. However it required signing up to activate it. Here are the full terms for the free membership.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

Two more 50% off list price book coupons up for grabs. First 2 people to pm get it.

Edit: Both coupons claimed. I'll probably a few more to give away tomorrow again.

He's not the one bringing in a technicality, he is following the receipts terms. B & N is trying to bring in the technicality by saying "promo not a discount".

yet they are not advertising this as a promo. they are advertising it as a 50 % off sale.

they can't have it both ways.

50 % off = implying 50 % off the list price = discount.

Look what they say, this is a discount:
"Criterion Collection Sale: All Now 50% Off!"
they want to reel people in with the language but don't want to pay out.

I'd rather they change the receipts and be consistent than play games with the customers.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

look how they are advertising:

Island of Lost Souls
$39.99 List price
$19.99 BN.com price

The list price remains $39.99, there is no new list price! it is a discount sale. (I realize 39.99 shouldn't qualify, the whole point of the 8 off 40 is so they don't have to include those 39.99 ones)

I don't really care but B & N is being a bit sleazy

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

You can't pick and choose your fine print.

They're allowing us to usually use coupons that few, if any, of us technically should be using. Look at all the fine print. The $5 and $8 coupons can be used once per person if you bought a new membership within a very specific date range.

All of the coupons say that they cannot be combined with any other coupon.

They are being extremely generous and not enforcing this rules, and giving us huge discounts on these titles.

And yet we call them sleazy and "fight for our rights"? Ridiculous.

I think of the consumer and the retail store, as two squirrels fighting.

Each are trying to grab each other's nuts as much as possible, without getting too much hurt themselves.

---

Would be nice if they had a 20% VISA coupon.

Who's being sleazy? You can still use 20% off on top off 50% & 10% in the store...that brings it down to less than you'll be able to sell it for once you watch it & resell it once the sale season is over.

They also have in the restrictions not be used for digital content so they could even push that if they didn't want us to use any of the coupons during this sale. I don't think it is worth arguing as I would like to at least be able to use my 20% off coupon a time or two more without pissing someone off.

Digital Content means content delivered electronically, like ebooks, and does not refer to items on physical media.

Can you use the 50% off book coupon more than one time on the same account if you get a different code?

It's too early to know anything definite yet. However B&N has been cycling the the 20% and 15% coupons about every other week lately. If they stay with that pattern next week might not be a very good one for new coupons, but I'm hoping they may start increasing the coupons for the holidays. I went searching through this thread and found last year several 25% store coupons came out around November 9.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

Used two 50% off coupons in-store today, with Ship to Home orders. The books I wanted were considerably cheaper online, and I hoped that if I did a Ship to Home order I would get 50% off of the ONLINE price instead of the List price. My plan worked. When the Ship to Home order is placed, the paperwork only mentions the online price. So when you go to the register to pay, they have no idea whether or not that is the List price. They just go by the price on the paper.
