Thanks for the reminder to answer the question.

Sadly, my experiences mirror yours. I didn't receive even 10% of the amount I should have this period. I called CS and spoke to 4 or 5 different people trying to straighten it out. They were nice enough but offered little help despite the fact they could see a dozen orders or more from B&N this period. I'm not sure what's going on. I've used the link a hundred times in the past without incident. But as soon as the the amount increased to 15% I've had nothing but trouble. Here's what help I finally did receive: they gave me a fax number and asked me fax copies of my B&N orders and they would look into it. Fax? Really? Welcome to the 80s. Why not email with attachments? I don't have a fax machine. Oh well. I'll figure something out. They said the faxes go directly to the Shopdiscover people so if anyone is interested in giving this a go send me a PM and I'll give you the number.

BN seems to be not offering rebates to accounts that use the coupon multiple times. I can't get it from BN from multiple rebate sources. When my membership renews, I'm gonna change to a different email address. It only happened after I used the same coupon multiple times. Hence that is my theory on it.

My suspicion is they are no longer giving rebates on orders on which a coupon was used. And that's pretty much all of mine.

If that's the reason I might as well go back to using my B&N Mastercard since I get a instant 5% rebate directly on my purchase without having to wait for any cashback. Has anyone got an explanation what is going on and can confirm it's related to using coupons? If Discover wants a fax I'm not sure how I'm going to do it since I also do not own a fax machine. I had fax software on my computer at one time but no longer have it installed since I rarely used it, and no longer have a dial up connection on my computer.

Maybe this would work if you have to send a fax to Discover and don't have any fax machine or software.

Thanks. I remembered we had a USB modem somewhere and I just found it. It appears to work with my laptop so I'll fax them tomorrow.

Yes, but I never received confirmation emails for those orders and the emails are sent within a couple of days.

I can confirm this part as I was checking over my DiscoverCard statement for September. I checked the cashback section closely and noticed that I got a 5% cashback bonus. I made maybe one purchase from bn.com in the last month and I didn't get any confirmation email for that one (used GC to pay again).

Then I remember that my July 2011 purchase only got credited 10% when they were running the 15% back to school promotion.

So yeah, keep any receipts/evidence just in case they don't credit you.

It turns out I was given correct info. I received a shipment notice for the Star Wars set at 11:08 last night.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

This latest '15% Off 1 Item' coupon code I received in an email this morning appears to be a generic coupon code, same code available also at various coupon sites. Nowhere in the terms do I see where this coupon cannot be used more than once. Has anyone had any experience with this type of coupon code at B&N where the code is not unique to each specific person or email? If I have 3 items I want to buy, can I order each item separately and use this code on each item? Thanks, -kd5-

Coupon list updated on the first page. Added 2 new member 20% codes and a 15% non-member code.

Generally most coupons are one time use per customer online. However the only way to confirm if it is a multi use coupon is to make a purchase and try to make a second purchase. If it is a single use coupon it should say you have already redeemed the coupon. However there has also been a way to use coupons multiple times for a while. After making a purchase log out of your account. Add a new item to your cart. Apply the coupon and then proceed through the checkout process. Log into your account again and the coupon discount should be applied. Repeat the process as many times as you want to use the coupon. Works with both member and non-member coupon codes.

Cool. That's what I hated about the Borders thread, the OP was never updated so I always had to search through the thread or do random urls until I got a working coupon.

I'm used to Borders, so it sucks that I have to pay for a membership and then there's only a 20% code for members. I'm used to 40% codes. Do those happen with this place?

I finally got around to calling customer service this morning to ask about the missing cashback. My experience seemed to be a lot different than yours. I got a very helpful woman that at least appeared to know what she was doing. I explained what happened and she quickly calculated what I should have received. She put me on hold for a while to check into the matter. When she came back she asked that I wait until the next billing cycle to make sure B&N posts the cashback. She claimed it could take a couple of cycles but was concerned something was wrong since they already gave me 20 cents on the last statement. However she said if nothing posts by the next cycle she would go into my account and manually credit me for the missing amount. Gave me her name and ID, and said to call back next month after the deadline if I don't see the updated credit. Hopefully she keeps her word. Also glad they are not requiring me to send faxes.

Since I started this thread I've always tried to keep the coupon list current and up to date on the first page. So always check to see what's new.

Typically the member coupons are 15% to 20% off. Occasionally there are 25% to 30% coupons. We just had a 30% coupon last week for members who had a Mastercard. Probably some 25% coupons will start showing up as the holiday season approaches. However the online prices tend to be better than Borders, and even though the coupons seem lower you may end up with better bargains in the end. Especially when you combine coupons with some of the sales.

First, you had to pay for Borders Rewards Plus to get the same benefits you do from a B&N membership. Borders Rewards was a little better because you received 10% off online and you don't from B&N.

As for coupons, there's a big difference between Borders and B&N. Borders was discounted from list price and B&N coupons are taken off the selling price. So B&N can be a better deal on sale items. The rarely have coupons more than 20% with an occasional 30. What you want to watch for are the 50% coupons. They are rare but make for incredible deals. Members can also take advantage of the $5 off a $15 CD, $8 off a DVD $40 or higher, and $5 off a $50 purchase. These coupons can be combined and used multiple times in-store.

I would say they will become extremely rare after the latest changes that were made to the last round of mystery coupons. The unique barcodes for store coupons and one use online coupons means B&N can strictly control who gets them. For most customers I would not count on getting one.

Good to know. We didn't pay for the Plus membership since we had no local Borders and only went there when we were out of town. Our B&N also sucks because they don't stock videos, so there was even less of a need to go there. Now that Borders is gone, we might as well join up with the remaining guy.

Well, I guess the only way to find out was to find out. Had a B&N Gift Card I wanted to use but wanted to get the most from it, bought NCIS: Season 8, used the code, logged out, went back, bought Fringe: Season 3, used the code, logged out, went back, bought Supernatural: Season 6, used the code one last time. So, yes, it can be done logging out/back in as you proceed to checkout. Didn't try it any other way so I don't know if it could have been done any other way, but I got what I wanted and saved a couple of bucks in the process, so thanks for the assist! -kd5-

If you don't log out the coupon might say it was already redeemed if you try to use it. Still that's not a problem if you do the log in and out procedure to get around it. Just be aware B&N may eventually catch on someday. At least for now it's like having unlimited coupons.

^ I was able to use the last set of 20% off coupons an unlimited number of times...it was back on August 31, the day my membership expired. I guess I did log on/log off, because I went through ShopDiscover each time....but that's a "whole n'other" story.

There are actually four store coupons. Had to do a little extra hunting but I tracked them all down.
