Still a lot of Band of Brothers tins out there also, as well as Sopranos. One store I was at had 3 copies of 6.1 in... no, they weren't stolen, were they?????

I bought a lot of crap yesterday, mainly for resale at my store. The best find was a couple freshly-stolen sets of Saturday Night Live season 1. I also found a copy of Twin Peaks season 1, a show I always meant to watch but never did. Now I can get around to it.
Aw man! you can find TNG ssn1?! I NEVER see season 1.
We get 4,5,6,7 out here and nothing else (cause they all get stolen from wally)

Season 1 is the rarest of the 3 that I find out here. One EB has 5 copies each of seasons 4 and 5. Only one store has season 1, and they only have one copy.

We also see the occasional DS9, and for some odd reason it's almost always seasons 4 and 5 with that also. We never see Voyager, TOS or Enterprise.

The place of choice for our thieves is Meijer's, just down the road for 3 EB / GS locations. They will leave a hundred dollar DVD set sitting out, but they lock up $20 video games. Target is right in the same plaza w/ one of the GS stores, and that plaza is across the street from EB, so that place gets hit a lot also. Their security is a little better though.

I called a few GS and got a different reply at each store as to what "sale" they were currently running...

I asked one if the B2G1 was still working with the 3 @ $10 and she didn't know so I asked her to just run one through the register to see and then just void it and to my surprise, she said okay and to hold on...

Sure enough she told me that the puter is still stacking BOTH deals...

Went over there and bought for 9 @ $21.70:
Trapped
She's The One
Jennifer8
Tank
Eight Men Out
Complete Superman Collection
Spy Game
Cranberries: Live
AC/DC: Live

nonametofame, which OC store had b2g2?
I hit the 2 gbs here in fullerton/brea and they were only doing b2g1. I didnt bother with the one in anaheim or lapuente since i think they are owned by the same guy.

smackattack, there are two stores actually. You should have gone to the Anaheim one as that is one of the 2 stores that are running it.
Store #1 Gamestop Magnolia and Broadway, Anaheim
Store #2 EB Beach and Talbert, HB

The Anaheim store's service was awesome. They were more than happy to allow me to do a return/rebuy on a couple of HD-DVD's I bought over the weekend at a few random Gamestops as well as 2 Xbox 360 HD-drives. I was able to stack the B2G2 Free + GI 10% coupon + Edge card 10% discounts.
I got 2 HD-drives for $121 each
8 HD-DVDs for about $5-6 each

They seemed cool about the return/rebuy, so pick out what you like at other stores and return them there to get the best deal. BTW, did you happen to see any HD/Blu-ray stuff at the Fullerton/Breat stores?

All of the Gamestops/EB's that I've been to have said that HD-DVD's do not count towards the B2G1 deal when I had the HD-DVD's scanned. For the people who have gotten HD-DVD's to work, did they have to manually put it into the computer or did it automatically come up?

For the B2G2 Free, they had to manually enter it into the computer. But for the usual B2G1 Free sales in the past, the 3rd movie was automatically deducted. Never had a problem getting HD/Blu-ray stuff with the promo discount.

thanks for the reply, i may have to mosey down that way, although a bit of a haul. The anaheim store i was talking about is on St College and I think Lincoln. I never hit the EB on beach and imperial because about a year ago they had no dvds anymore, dont know if its changed. The 2 fullerton/brea gamestops off imperial (about 1.5 miles from each other) only had regular dvds. I havent jumped into the Hi Def world yet, but i might consider if i found some good deals at a gamestop.

North OC is kinda weak, the gamestops never have anything great.

I went and theyre all b2g1

I was going to get Twin Peaks S1 but I heard theyre coming out with a complete series eventually. Is it worth a blind buy? Was the story completed or are you left hanging after the end of it all?

You might want to pick up the Twin Peaks.

Amazon

Edited to add: You are left hanging at the end, but it's a wonderful journey getting there.

Wow! You guys must have some amazing Gamstop/EB's near you. The only thing I ever find in those stores is one small wire bin filled with DTV crap, masterpieces like Blue Streak and Bait, and DVDs that look like they've been run over by a semi.

I still poke my head in hoping to luck out, but I'm starting to think it'll never happen and will probably just give up on it alltogether sooner rather than later.

b2g2

I found a eb store doing the b2g2. I got 3 Rome season 1 and Lost season 1. I used my edge card and stacked an additional 10% coupon I got from a magazine. The total was 68 and change. One Rome for me and another for a friend.

Just got back from the EBGames in Pioneer Place (downtown Portland, OR). Unless you're into Smallville, MASH, the Sopranos or The X-Files, don't bother looking there for box sets. They were already WELL picked through. I couldn't even find three $12.99 titles I wanted, so I settled for:

Dukes of Hazzard S1 - $12.99
Wings S1 & S2 - $12.99
Blazing Saddles 30th Anniv. Ed. - FREE
- 10% Card discount
= $23.98

Not bad, but seriously disappointed in the selection. Oh, and they were B2G1F as well.

Is it a computer glitch? I thought they were supposed to stack both. I remember the last sale they actually sent out an email saying to stack both. So charge $6.66 for anything that is 3 for 10.

How long is this sale good for?

Tthe 3 for $$$ sale pricing ended the same day the B2G1 sale started. Previously, they ran at the same time so the deals stacked. Apparently the B2G1 is now the "normal" promotion instead of 3 for $$$. I think the glitch was at that one store the poster mentioned, both sales were still active.

I visited half a dozen Gamestops on Monday and none had both sales active (one still had the old signage up, and when I pointed it out, they said they had been real busy and didn't have time to change it).

I hope they reinstitute at least the 3 for $10 deal on $5.99 DVDs. There is so much utter crap in those bins I don't know how they expect to sell more by RAISING the price. However, I am glad that now boxsets are cheaper, and that you can mix and match different price points to get a deal.

Sorry, had to share.

Friends Complete Series ............ $89.99
Sex & the City Complete Series .. $89.99
CSI Season 6 .......................... FREE
---
Total w/Tax & Discount card .... $170.08

Best. Find. Evar.

I like how both seires had last Monday's date on them, supposedly the first day they no longer gave cash for DVDs. It looks like thieves will still trade in stuff for credit.

Nice deal, man. I've seen the S&TC set, but nothing else for around that price. A really sweet deal would be B2G2 Free with sets like those.

Or the stuff was sold on Sunday and they didn't get around to printing the labels until Monday. The employees at one of my local stores has a reputation for leaving large trades / purchases around for a day or so, trying to force someone else to gut and file all the discs.

Too bad you couldn't find one of the other big series sets like West Wing as your free one.
