What kind of case does the 2003 or is it 2004 version of Texas Chainsaw Massacre come in? I was trying to trade it in, and they wouldn't accept it. I got my copy from Hollywood Video, and I've noticed that they have different UPC's than the snap case ones. I always thought Texas Chainsaw Massacre was in a regular case, so I'm just curious as to why they wouldn't accept it. They're only excuse was "We have too many of them," even though none were out for sale.

Well several people purchased these sets as a
a blind buy. So if they are not happy with
them its a pretty easy/good turn around.

Plus if one is gamer. BB is very competive
with game prices. So then savings would better.

Just depends on how ones
financial planning is used tiz all.

Any stores in Knoxville, TN area doing this? Also, are any stores in the Tri-Cities (Bristol, Kingsport, Johnson City) area doing this? I called all three Kpt. stores but all said they were not participating. Thanks!

No question, it's any easy and ok way to get rid of the set if it turns out to be an unsatisfying blind buy - but the implication from the original post was that simply buying from Amazon @ $14.99 and turning it over to Blockbuster for a $20 credit might be a good strategy - and financially, it's not.

Well I took advantage of this today and walked out of Blockbuster with $601...yes $601 of credit.

Every DVD I traded in was $8 except for Dances With Wolves (snapper) which was $9. Why, I have no idea, but I took it.

Everything went fairly smoothly but there was one pretty funny moment...

The clerk looked at the 2-disc "The Others" which happened to have Canadian Bi-Lingual packaging (GRR!). Anyway, he says, "We can't take this one."

I said, 'Why not?"

He says, "Because this is a Canadian DVD and they press them differently up there and these won't play in American DVD players." - I am not shitting you.

I just looked at him like he said, "I love to squirt oatmeal in my ass."

Then I said, "Look, put the disc in any player in this store and if it doesn't play I'll give you $100."

I guss that satisfied him because he just rang it up and carried on.

Strange breed, these BB clerks are.

Anyway, I'm ecstatic about getting $8 for some of the crap I foisted off on them. Now, I have to decide what to spend $601 on.

If anyone in Louisville, KY is interested, there are NO Blockbusters participating in this.

I would guess because even the DD version is OOP and somewhat rare - but they dont pay more for a lot of rarer titles.

the single disc remake comes in a keepcase, and the 2 disc special edition comes out in a fold out I believe.

The store right behind my place is doing this, but for some reason, their used bins are bare of anything I want! They're totally out of Girl Next Door and Taking Lives URs, but they say that they're behind in thier pulls. Go figure.

Willl prolly take back about 10 movies, including some stuff I can rebuy for cheap at Target.

Weird, my Blockbuster is absolutely loaded with copies of Girl Next Door. A dozen copies or more.

I found a BlockBuster in Temecula, CA that was taking trade ins and took 61 DVDs. Unfortunately had nine rejected because they were not in their system. The majority of the rejected DVDs were various titles from Roan, and several Claude Chabrol Collection DVDs from Pathfinder. I was curious if anyone else had trouble with these DVDs at BB, or found a store accepting? Otherwise came out with over $400 in credit, and got rid of my 40 disc collection of Star Trek TOS DVDs. Turned around a used some of the credit to pre-order the Looney Tunes Volume 2 set for $29.

The only ones I have had a problew with were R2D2 : Beneath the Dome (won't take it), and How Stella got her Groove Back, which they took after typing it in (wouldn't scan).

I traded in 47 DVDs for a little over $400 in credit. The only discs that they didn't take were the Troma titles and Natural Born Killers from the original Oliver Stone box set. They did take titles that they originally rejected with their trade-in (unrated, not rated, etc) and get a new release for $12.99 promotion.

Dumb question that's prolly been answered in the previous 27 pages that I didn't read: Are credits spendable at all BBV stores or just where your traded?

I don't rent from BBV much and usually stock up at 3-for-$25 rates at HWV, but they don't have the above-listed unrated titles. TIA.

They wouldn't take my Chabrol DVDs either.

Yup, answered before ....

If you put the credit on your ACCOUNT, it is only usable at that location.

If you have them put the credit on a VALUE CARD you can use it at ANY Blockbuster. The only real down side to the "value card" is that if you lose it, it will not be replaced.

Anyone trade in any of these, if so what kind of value did you get??

Hellboy (Original 2 disc release)
Ultimate Jordan (Original release)

I am curious on these as I would like to get the special editions of these and it would be nice if these netted more than the minimum $8.

Thanks for any input provided.

Damn, this seems like an easy way to empty some much-needed shelf space. I'll have to get on this quick!

I dumped some more crap today. Ebay value would be like $30. So $56 is great. And I preordered (paid in full) Looney Vol 2 for $29.99.

- Basket Case (Best Buy has it in a cheap 2 for 1 pack)

- Raw Deal - The OOP AB one is garbage now that Fox reissued it

- Beavis and Butthead DO America

- The Matrix (box set coming)

- Air Force One (1st DVD, non 16X9)

- Cliffhanger (1st one, non 16X9)

- Face/Off, SE coming next year.

$8 for Hellboy, and I'm trading in UJ today since I picked up Ultimate Jordan 20th at BB w/ the Slam Dunk contest bonus disc for $21.99 using $3 in Best Buy Bucks I got at McDonalds so I'll let you when I get home (in about 3 hours).

I wouldn't expect more than $8 for this one either.

Edit: Yep, I got $8 for it.
