Horse Feathers didn't ring up. A couple months ago this would have been one of the more valuable DVDs. So it goes.

Anyway, cool promotion. I turned in a bunch of discs and got like $160 in credit. Not bad for a bunch of movies I that were (a) never going to be watched again (b) impossible to sell for any amount of money on eBay.

A few buying tips, if I may:

Some of their box sets, as another posted said, sell there for a decent price. If you're looking to buy new, that isn't a bad way to go since you aren't getting gouged. Also, a lot of special editions don't have prices that are too inflated (Goodfellas, Casablanca, Shawshank Redemption, for example). In fact, the non-SE of Shawshank cost more than the new release.

When I learned about this deal last night I sifted through my entire DVD collection and found 25 expendable ones. I called 8 different Blockbusters in my area as soon as they opened this morning and it turns out none of them even allow trade-ins. That really sucks.

Okay I bought all of their 4.99 PVD titles the other day on my credit.

Took them back today and got $8 each for them. So I got back all my money plus a lot more!

YAH for me!

Is there a limit to how many of the same title they will accept?

I've gotten over $300 in gift cards and to top it off, they had a copy of South Park season 3 in the used rack at $24.99. When I asked the guy at the counter if this counted for 2 for $20, he said he doubted it. But I picked up the Butterfly Effect aong with South Park and asked him to ring them up. Yup. It worked. He said, "I wish I'd known that !"

Just traded in 11 movies, 8 bucks each. Decided to give up all my Matrix DVDs since i plan on buying the box set in December. Unfortunatly they didn't have Shawshank, but i did pick up a couple of used DVDs. Still have about 40 bucks credit on a gift card.

I've tried 4-5 stores and none seem to have this promotion going on. They keep saying they might have one around December instead.

Anybody know of any Blockbusters around the Philly area doing this?

Well, i just traded in 9 DVD's for $72 in credit. They put it on my GameRush card...so now I have like $214 in credit after some GREAT Game trade-in deals.

I think I still may go back and trade a few others in....like Top Gun (since a new version is coming out) and a few of my other $5 movies like Bandits and Jawbreaker. I can always buy again cheap if I want them again

Ok here is what I got so far (if anyone cares) with my credit:

New:

Friday the 13th Box Set
Shawshank Redemption 2 disc
Trainspotting 2 disc

PVD's:

Elephant
Tokyo Godfathers
Triplets of Belleville
Mean Girls
Nightmare on Elm Street 3 Dream Warriors (my favorite of the series)

On Order:

Mr. Bean The Whole Bean
Cowboy Bebop Sessions 1-6

-------------------------------------------------

Still have $265.63 left.

-------------------------------------------------

What has everyone else gotten? Any recommendations?

I saw a dvd (I can't remember the name of it) and it was an anime. I believe the name had something like Bloodlust in the title (has an anime character's face on the front with a totally black background with red title letters.) Someone traded it in and I thought about getting it but didn't. Now I can't remember the name, and I can't look it up on IMDB to see recommendations. I might just have to go back and get it and then trade it back in if I don't like it.

I also have to order the Cowboy Bebop Movie. Forgot about that one. I'm also thinking about picking up the Panic Room SE, which after tax would only be about 6-7 more than the cheapest price online from DDD.

Both of the Blockbusters in my area are doing the 8 dollar trade in deal and I live in Washington State.

Out of my 472 DVD's I could only find about 20 to get rid of and most of them were because better editions are coming out like Born on the Fourth of July, Shawshank, Clerks, and the Rocky movies and a few others.

After words I had 132 dollars in store credit, so I picked up

Clerks X
Used Kill Bill Vol. 2
Party of Five Season 1
Shawshank 2 disc
Everybody Loves Raymond Season 1
Used Cold Mountain

I wish I could find more to trade in because there are a few box sets I would like to get, but I couldn't find anything more to part with.

That's the one. Thanks a million! Have you seen it by any chance? Don't want to get into a review sorta thing cause I don't want to get way off topic, but something simple about it, if you've seen it?

I see that IMDB says it's only 48 minutes. Not sure I want to invest if that is the runtime.

I For one can say I'm NEVER going to Blockbuster again, among numerous other problems with them in the past.. I got a incompetent worker last night with my trade-ins, and was supposed to have $10.35 credit on my account and $120 on the card they gave me. Spent $76 and change last night. Went in today to purchase more and found out the $10.35 wasn't on my account anymore and when I showed receipts for proof they ignored it and gave me a song and dance about it. So I basically got screwed out of $10 on the deal.

MJG,if credit is ON your account, it gets used RIGHT away. Meaning, if you were to pik something up that was $45, it would take the $10.35 first, then charge you the rest (on Giftcard, Visa etc.).

Yes I Know, one product rang up as $33, the other one $39 then with tax came out to a total of $76 which it says on the receipt. They already gave me $120 on a separate card and put the $10.35 on my account, which totals to $130.35. So 130-76=54 but yet it told me I had $44 on the card today and no credit on the account.

Why is the worker incompetent if you have reciepts showing that there's a credit on your account or used to be there when you made the trade?

Blood is pure eye and ear candy. It cost a ridiculous amount of money to make and it all went into the aesthetics. The storyline isn't bad, just shallow. But the picture and sound are great home theater demo material. I used the opening hunt in the subway to show off my new dual SVS subwoofers to some friends for the first time and they were floored by just how realisticly immersive (and deafeningly loud) that scene was. We were in that train.

Last I checked, and it has probably been over a year now, $10 for Blood was about the best you could do new, so if you have a home theater setup you like to show off -- even if it is just to yourself, I say it is a good title to spend your credit on. There certainly are a LOT worse anime titles out there.

I just tried the stores further north, in the Hunt Valley, Jarrettsville areas, nothing as well. Looks like this is a no-go in Baltimore county..Dammit!

Not sure if this was asked already, but can you purchase regular blockbuster gift cards with the credit that you get from trading in the dvds? I want to trade in some dvds for giftcards that I can give to people.
Thanks,
Michael

I'm thinking about trading in some movies towards a purchase of a new game system. Does the credit have to be on a GameRush gift card or do the accept Blockbuster gift cards?
