One of the titles accepted was an MGM Midnite Movie double-feature. So it doesn't have to necessarily be a single-feature DVD. Just thought I'd pipe that in.

My local Blockbuster is not a Gamerush store and they ordered a PS2 for me. The orders are received in 2 business days. They can also pick up whatever you need on their monthly meetings. (At my local store anyway).

1) If it was released by an independent studio (such as Platinum), it will not be in their database and, thus, not accepted.
I saw several Platinum discs at one store.

yeah... they take platinum with no problem... I would be a little more concerned about them not taking some of the even smaller independant studios (like sterling)

Anyone have any luck trading in any of the ORIGINAL releases of Star Trek: The Original Series -- the two episode per disc ones??

I have about a dozen of those that I can't do squat with since they entire sets are coming out now.

I would love to trade those in and get enough credit to buy the "mispriced/good priced" Looney Tunes Collection Vol 2 and West Wing Season 3.

Also anyone in Richmond, VA been able to do this and if so which locations??

Thanks

Greg

Typical. Goes to show you that there is NO consistency for the franchise...

Good news, tranq and other Tampanians. If you are willing to make a trip to Pasco County, the Blockbuster on Collier is participating [Bearss to Livingston, then left on Collier]. I don't think the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is going to let HC in on this promotion any time soon.

EDIT: I would also like to mention that I already made one trip there already and got $8 for every DVD I brought in, save for the copy of How to Stuff a Wild Bikini I bought for $5 at Wal-Mart. They have a limit of 20 DVDs per day, also.

San Pablo
And the manager is a sweetie, although you'll have to listen to his We make no money on this I just hope you know, absolutely nothing, this is just to get you into the store, we don't make enough to— (snip).

I haven't tried Pin Hole but I suspect it's a go there, as well. Incidentally, $8.00 is the minimum — $10 for A Bug's Life, $$35 for I Love Lucy Season One, are two examples on the flyer I picked up.

The 3 closest store to me (South Jersey) are all running this promo so I'd assume it's statewide.

I don't understand what you're trying to add to here that's new.

So, traded in my first batch today. 15 DVD's, most from 1997 and 1998, and non-anamorphic with little or no added features.

All are Region 1 originals, but a few did not have the "Region 1" mark on the back. They took them all anyway. They did not seem to be all that up to date with the latest procedures, worked in my favor.

Unfortunately, they would not take money for pre-orders either, they hand wrote the pre-order information on a hand-written xeroxed form.

One question ... is everyone receiving Tax back with their trade-ins? I must have missed that somewhere in the 25 pages of this thread.

15 Trade-In's = $120
6.5% Tax (Cary, IL Tax rate) = $7.80

Amount put on value card = $127.80

It appears that some states add tax, others don't.

in NYC, the amount without tax is added to your value account while the tax is credited to your account.

E.g. If you trade in one DVD, you'd get $8 on your value card and $0.69 credit on your account. Or you could just have $8.69 credited to your account.

I just ask the clerk if i could purchase a gift card with my value card and the person that was working said "Yes." So i went ahead and put about $150 on the card and use it to buy dvds online. On the back of the gift card, there are numbers with bar codes. On the top of the card there is a reload barcode and right under it there is another set of numbers with a barcode. I guess the other barcode is the account type, not sure. To be able to use the gift card online, the first four digit of the account barcode has to be 6016 or higher. ex: 6016 XXXX XXXX XXXX, (X) representing other numbers and underneath that, there is a scratch off 9 digit pin code that will allow you to buy from blockbuster website using the gift card. I hope that explains it more. Hard to explain but if you look at the back of the gift cards they have, you'll see what i'm talking about.

I got a value card for $40 then asked for another value card for the tax...

The clerk thought about it for a minute then did it for me...

I'm also in NY...

Crap thanks for letting me know. I will give it shot, worst they can tell me is no. Good news is I found at least 3 locations in Richmond doing the $8 deal so its all good. I am just looking to get enough trade $$ to get in on the preorder deals on the next Looney Tunes and West Wing releases.
