I was embarassed when I noticed some price stickers in the $2-$3 range on several of the DVD's I unloaded during my last trip to Blockbuster. The guy ringing them up saw them but didn't seem to care.

He just didn't want to take them back and give me $8 for them.

I've traded in 40 or 50 titles now. It's been great accumulating all this credit and I've found a fair number of good titles to buy from stores, but I have run into a couple of problems.
1) I was hoping to unload a couple of Simpsons season sets and In Living Color season one, but I don't have those stupid sheets that were stuck to the back and there's no UPCs on the boxes. Nobody has been willing to take anything they can't scan. I wonder if there's somewhere online I can find scans that I could print. The only olther titles they wouldn't take were a crappy Laserlight disc and the Quantum Leap series premiere disc that predates the season sets.
2) I've been told at 2 different stores now that they don't do special orders anymore. I was able to pick up curb your enthusiam season two in the store, but I've been trying to get th0em to order season one. I might like to order a couple of Criterions too. Has anyone else run into this problem?
3) I was thinking about using some credit to pick up a Nintendo DS when it comes out, but there aren't any of these Gamerush stores in my state. Does anyone know if a regular store might be willing to order a game system, or if any of them will carry it in-store?

For the most part they're not making much if any profit upon reselling them, but at the same time we're using our credit to buy new dvds for $5-10 more than they cost at a retail store.

Even with the reciept, i see nothing wrong with what he asked. If you bought it and returned in the next day, then he could just assume you saw it that night and went back to resell it the next day, and thus asking you about the movie. I'd get snotty about the buy/trade in afterwards too if you gave me a response like that.

I saw a couple of rare OOP dvds - Karate Kid, which was scratched to hell and missing its insert; and Half Baked, which I didn't really check out because it is not consistently going at a high enough price on eBay, and I don't really want to own it.
Odd that Vampire in Brooklyn would not scan - fairly popular film with a major star in his prime and all.

1) If it was released by an independent studio (such as Platinum), it will not be in their database and, thus, not accepted.
2) They 'supposedly' have a quota of how many of each title they will accept in trade-in. I don't know if the clerk was giving me a bs story or not. But they said some titles they accepted early on were not accepted a few days later. Maybe they're getting their fill on very common WalMart $5 titles (is Vampire in Brooklyn from there?)
3) If it doesn''t have 'Region 1' listed on the cover art or disc, it would not be accepted. This one is a YMMV issue, as I had some disks refused at BBV#1, but accepted at BBV#2.

edit: I should add that they said that it *was* in their system, but listed with a buyback quantity of zero allowed.
