I find it interesting to see the foundation of the Marvel Universe built brick by brick, month by month. through the Silver Age. By the end of the Silver Age you have a complete structure from the original creators. Then, new creators come in and begin building additions to the original structure. Like a building that has been constantly added on to and remodeled over the decades. This is the picture in the lobby of the original building.

Had to be pretty exciting to be a kid back then and have two quarters in your pocket. You could go home with 4 gems!

The DC superhero stuff at that time is kinda tired and dull so you can see how Marvel took charge pretty quickly around that time.

But in other news...how do you top an uzi toting dolphin? Easy answer...you can't.

ORIGIN OF MARVEL COMICS

Introducing
Hate Monger
Mr. Hyde
Human Top > Whirlwind
*
Nick Fury - Although first time Fury appears in Marvel continuity, it doesn't fold him or Sgt. Fury and Howling Commandos into the continuity. That doesn't happen until SHIELD is introduced. This is a genre crossover. Fury is missing the eye patch. Later, after introduction of SHIELD, a retconned story is published that has him losing eye in WWII.

Other than the eyehole, which they obviously fixed soon, that Iron Man costume is sooooo much better than the original, it isn't even close.

There's a part of me that wants to read all of those early 1960s Marvel Comics in release order, and see the Marvel Universe being built in real-time.
