Comic Book Cover Of The Day

OK, I'm going to post a favorite cover every day or so (whenever I remember to do it), and let's start with... Hmmmmm.... Let's see...

Yeah, this one's a great place to start. One of my all time favorite covers (an 8 x 11 print is on the back of my door in my den)!

Fantastic Four 121 by John Buscema and Joe Sinnott

I will join in. This is one of my favorites when I was a kid. I read the hell out of this issue for whatever reason.

Re: Comic Book Cover Of The Day

My intro to early Spider-Man in the late 70's and 80's was through Marvel Tales. They usually did a copy of the original cover or sometimes a completely new cover.

Hard to pick a favorite as I could post many of those all day long. But here one that I loved and read over and over...

I have this particular issue in a frame. It used to hang behind these figures, but I have done some reorganizing, and it now sits here. I remember when this set came out...I had to have it. One of the best-looking cheaper figures I ever saw in my opinion.

Re: Comic Book Cover Of The Day

This was a Gil Kane cover I had as a kid. I recall the striking cover, but I remember more about the Masters Of The Universe insert than the actual Superman story.

Re: Comic Book Cover Of The Day

That's an awesome Hulk cover. I always thought all of Marvel's magazine painted covers were so damn good looking as a kid. They just jumped out at me in the grocery store.

My parents would take me with them to go grocery shopping and after I got my free kid's cookie (depending on the store), I went straight to the comic and magazine section/aisle and stayed there until they came and got me. These type magazines and the painted Frazetta paperback book covers always captured my attention and imagination. I never could buy any because they were too pricey, and my parent would usually only allow one comic due to cost. Getting that one comic and sitting in those sections for the entire time made me look forward to going grocery shopping and I went every time I had the opportunity. I still like grocery shopping today.

I never owned the one below but for some reason, it always stuck in my mind. Probably because my parents were extremely religious, and it reminded me of how "Satan" was described.

A classic that was one of the best of the era. Jack Burnley and Stan Kaye.

Re: Comic Book Cover Of The Day

I want to read this comic. I always loved weird ones like this. My best friend when I was a kid had a grandfather that had tons of old comics and he let us look at them. Ones like these were always what I gravitated to even though the story was never quite as interesting as the covers.

Silver Age Superman covers are my favorite. You're right about the inside almost never delivering on the wacky covers in a satisfying manner.

How about Romita squared? I always thought this was one of the coolest Spider-Man covers.

I am a sucker for some Mike Zeck Captain America covers. So here is one that kinda mirrors the one above.

You gotta do the companion cover to that story.

One of the best issues of MTIO. Interior written and drawn by John Byrne and inked by Joe Sinnott.

Cover by George Perez and Joe Sinnott.

Re: Comic Book Cover Of The Day

I know I had that issue. The Thing was one my favorite characters as a kid. Anything with him dealing with his "monstrousness" or his old "less rocky" self always fascinated me. He had one of the most interesting back stories in my opinion and I always felt sorry for him. So I would always try to pick up a Marvel Two-In-One when I could but I generally stuck to the FF issues because Byrne was doing them around the time I was really into reading and I loved his FF artwork and stories.

This was a MTIO issue I had as a kid and loved the image of The Thing actually being peaceful while chaos is going on behind him...and with some of my favorite Marvel characters no less!

Re: Comic Book Cover Of The Day

I'm a cover whore and so I would be posting just about every cover and variant
Ive spent way too much just based off a cover. Buy shit I have no intentions of reading. Even if it's a shit title. Awesome cover, coming with me.

Iron Man Vol 3, #76 (421) by Adi Granov

Clearly the inspiration for the MCU Iron Man.

Re: Comic Book Cover Of The Day

I can probably count the number of Iron Man comics I had as a kid on one hand. Never was a fan for whatever reason.

So here is one of the only ones I had...and it wasn't from the original series or even a solo Iron Man comic.
