Re: Comic Book Cover Of The Day

Ha! I just came here to post that same Captain Nice comic above. I was reading yesterday about Captain Nice and Mr. Terrific, 2 shows I've never seen. That's William Daniels (voice of KITT) as Captain Nice. Show was created by Buck Henry.

Not sure if that's an actual comic book or just a parody cover.

I'd love to have that image on a t-shirt.

You're not missing anything. They're groan inducing bad. I was 8 when they were new and watched them on network. Watched them again as adult and couldn't watch more than 10 minutes before bailing.
Same with this show

Funny that the Brave and the Bold went from an adventure comic, to a character try-out book, to this, and then a Batman team-up book.

Speaking of Strange Sports Stories:

Wow. Weird. I have ever heard of or seen those covers before. Strange Sports stories indeed!

Speaking of sports, I have a feeling that Superman would get called for traveling a lot. Well, maybe not so much in today's NBA but back then, definitely!

That brought back memories of reading that when I was a kid. Now to track down a copy.

Oof. While I appreciate Kirby’s importance to comics and indeed modern art, now, when I first got into ‘collecting’ in the early 80’s, it was stuff like this that made me wonder what anyone saw in his work. I’m sure by this time he was just taking whatever they’d give him, but even when I’d look at back issues, I just saw virtually no evolution, and probably some de-evolution in fact. It’s colorful, I suppose.

As long as he stays in the air, it's not traveling right?

I am the exact same. I hated, HATED his artwork as a kid and a teen. Even now, knowing all his history, I still don't care for him and avoid his stuff if possible. Like you said, I appreciate it, and I find his creativity without measure. His backgrounds are probably the best and most imaginative of any artist ever. But his damn figures are so thick and blocky that I just couldn't stand if he was drawing characters that I loved. Kinda like Stan Lee. I appreciate his history and actually loved his dialogue, stories and writing as a kid...but as an adult, some of his tuff is hard to trudge through now.

Thick and blocky! But this one is cool which almost give the impression that Cap's fist is almost in 3-D!
