I'm thinking the same. I'm not sure who the Jimmy Olsen comics were targeted for, but I had zero interest in those ones as well.

I think those were definitely targeted at the younger readers who wanted to imagine what it would be like to be Superman's Best Friend!
I know I did.

I have zero memory of this comic. I remember the 'Nam comic but not this one. And I read a lot of "war" comics as a kid.

Re: Comic Book Cover Of The Day
I never really enjoyed war comics growing up as a kid but definitely remember Semper Fi for one reason. It was often one of the prominent comics available at my local Safeway's spinner rack. Spider-Man and Hulk issues would always sell out, while Semper Fi and other less popular Marvel titles would hang around seemingly for months.
I had already shifted to the local comic book stores by that time for my weekly fix but I would always manage to throw in a random issue from the newsstand at Safeway when shopping for groceries. It's how I first got into West Coast Avengers and Iron Man.

I started reading DC's war comics in the 70s and remain a big fan. In the 80's I bought the 'Nam series on the strength of Michael Golden's art but stopped buying the series about a third of the way through. Semper Fi followed the 'Nam by a year or two, presumably because the 'Nam's sales were good. I remember picking up a couple of issues and they looked good, with Glanzman and Severin art, but they didn't resonate with me like the old DC's did so I gave it up after three issues. Maybe I needed a strong lead character like Sgt. Rock, the Unknown Soldier, or Enemy Ace to keep me engaged.

The story behind this comic book is quite the tale! I highly recommend Twomorrows Publishing's book Graphite Edition on this title.
This video below goes into Destroyer Duck around the 10-minute mark.

I remember buying the first issue of Destoyer Duck but that's it. The backstory of its creation is really interesting though, I remember following some of the saga in issues of The Comics Journal.
I don't remember that Semper Fi comic at all (but do remember seeing The Nam). I was never really big into war comics, the only ones I've really read are the EC ones (Two Fisted Tales and Frontline Combat) and Warren's Blazing Combat, those three titles are all really the cream of the crop as far as war comics go. And you sure can't go wrong with Frank Frazetta covers! (and the story about how Blazing Combat was "cancelled" by the government back in the 60s is very interesting, the military was not happy with what was actually an anti-war comic during the thick of the Vietnam war)

That second What If series is one of my favorite comic book runs of all time. The first 40, 50 issues are all really good and its ideas started bleeding into regular continuity.

That's pretty cool. I don't remember seeing Wendy, Marvin, Wonder Dog, Zan, Jayna & Gleek all in the same room together before. At least in the old days. I am sure it has been done in recent years by now.
Actually, after typing that, I looked it up and it appears that Wendy & Marvin were the ones who discovered Zan & Jayna is Super Friends issue #7. That appears to be their only old school appears together that I found. Kind of an asshole move, Zan!

Public Service Announcement: They are publishing an omnibus of all DC vs Marvel comics coming out soon and it's believed this may be a one-time only thing because Marvel hates licensing these printings. Some are even mentioning if you don't pre-order it they may sell out and never come back into print. You've been warned. They are also doing an omnibus of the Amalgam comics.

Cool. I might have to get that. I would likely skip the Amalgam Omnibus because I remember not really caring for the stories in that series when it came out.
Where do you guys order for the best price for these? I usually order everything from Instock Trades but they don't do preorders, but they always have the best prices.
I saw Thriftbooks has the DC Vs. Marvel Omnibus for $96.78 which is the best price I have found so far.
